Hello! First off, let me just say I am so excited to be part of this rp and can’t wait to plot with all of you ^^ Some info about me: My name’s Beck (she/her | est | 25+), I’ve been rping for since April and I love it! I’m usually available during the evenings and my favorite food is red bean buns and boba tea!
Okay! With that aside, let me introduce you to my child, Jiyoung the familiar! An angsty boy who just needs people who are persistent but kind and patient to help him open up. Below you can find info about him! If you’re interested in plotting something with him, feel free to send a message via discord (GalaxyGal#7398). Tumblr dm is fine too but I’m easier to reach on discord. OK here’s Jiyoung!

Basic Info
Ki Jiyoung, familiar, unbonded, 307 y.o., looks 25
Owns Cafe Le Monde
Is an author, but has been writing under different pen names
Has many degrees because he’s had a lot of time on his hands and likes studying
Feels neutral about witches, vampires, and werewolves
Feels comfortable around other familiars
Has a horrible fear and disdain of hunters
Family: mom, dad, older sister, older brother, younger brother, and younger sister--he adores all of them, but their relationship with him is complicated because he refuses to bond with another witch
Background
Born into a family that upholds tradition and expects their children to find a witch to bond with
Jiyoung had made it clear he never intended to bond--saw it as a shackle rather than a way to grow
Parents made last ditch effort and introduced him to a witch they thought he might like
Well, sure, if you call falling in love “liking” but that was later after they formed an unlikely friendship built on mutual trust and respect
His feelings were seemingly not reciprocated, but Jiyoung was fine with that as long he could stay by the other’s side
Time-skip--his witch is turned into a vampire and their bond breaks, but it doesn’t end there
His witch-now-vampire friend/unrequited love is killed by a hunter
Jiyoung, out of guilt, shame, and fear, refuses to form another bond and has spent the last 200-something years doing things for himself (university, traveling, opening a cafe, writing books, etc.)
He’s lonely, reserved, contemplative, and self-critical (among other things) but also kind, open-minded, thoughtful, and gentle (among other things)
Most importantly, he fears opening up and losing those he cares for and he is in desperate need of people who can challenge him, be patient with him, or just be kind
Jiyoung pulled the door open to Siphons and Spells and upon entering, landed his gaze on Aera. He smiled kindly at her and waved as the door closed shut behind him. “Aera, how’ve you been?” He glanced around the shop, taking in the lack of customers and beyond that, a lack of Sohye. “Sohye is off somewhere, I guess?” It was perfect timing, then. He knew the witch was always running around. He pitied Aera, having to constantly keep an eye on Sohye on at all times. He knew she could be a handful, though she meant well. Still, he knew the toll it could take, focusing so much on your witch. He wondered if the other familiar, with all the time she spent in this shop and with Sohye, made sure to take care of herself.
Jiyoung walked up to the counter and leaned his elbows on the surface. He was glad for the lack of foot traffic and even more so, the lack of Sohye. This was a conversation meant solely for familiars. Jiyoung and Aera. He cared for Sohye, but as a familiar he felt most at ease with his own kind, and Aera was no exception. In the time spent in her company, he has come to be a sort of mentor, maybe? Jiyoung’s not sure, but regardless, he feels a responsibility to make sure Aera is taking care of herself. After all, a familiar can be no help to her witch when she doesn’t take of herself. “What have you been up to lately? Besides caring for Sohye and her shop? Hopefully, taking time for yourself.”
there are people he outlives, the life of adulthood he can’t experience, paths he can’t tread to preserve the secret of his immortality, friends he tries not to make, friends he can’t see.
jiyoung was one of those friends for a long time– owner of a cafe kijung frequented decades ago. cafes, as so many places do, had their regulars over the years, some of which he spoke to, some of which he silently recognized that inevitably did the same for him. recognition from humans is a curse for a vampire, especially one with a face as young as kijung’s, forever a high schooler, unable to excuse looking the same for more than five or six years. who would believe kijung to be any older than 23, i even that old?
he preferred people not to know his age either for the same reason. maybe it was more reasonable for someone to believe he was 14 when they first met him, and that he grew into a 19 year old, hitting puberty early but never quite growing into the manly physique of his counterparts.
it might make sense to flee seoul, and to travel like many of the other immortals do, just barely settling for several years before picking up and moving to some other corner of the vast world, options nearly as limitless as kijung’s years will be. this is kijung’s home now, however. maybe one day, now that kyuhwan is with them, and kijung has no need to attach him to anything other than the two most important people in his life.
for now, he cycles through locations, and makes himself scarce after spending too many years at any. now is the start of the cycle again, however, kijung trusting the regulars have filtered out over the years, and that no one will recognize him when he shows his face again.
he opens the door, stepping into the cafe and out of the cold. if he were a human, he, chilled to the bone, would undoubtedly order a warm drink, and he’s surprised the establishment isn’t filled to the brim with more people doing exactly that. it is a bit late, he supposes, and it’s better for him, because there’s no line, and he spots jiyoung behind the counter. his lips curl up in the smallest smile.

It’s been decades since Jiyoung opened his little cafe, Le Monde. His travels had given him an appreciation for food and drink in a way he hadn’t before and since his return to South Korea, the familiar’s been running his little universe with the utmost care and dedication. It’s a shame he had to run it from behind the scenes most of the time, filing ownership under different identities, having friends step in for a time to man the service counter. Jiyoung would work in the kitchen or office, sometimes coming out, pretending to be an employee. The years when he could act as actual owner were a treat.
It was that exciting time again when the familiar could freely be the owner and greet guests. He could often be found sitting behind the counter when it was quiet, working on his latest novel—something he was doing now. The door chimed off to his right and Jiyoung lifted his head from his notebook to meet the familiar eyes of a friend he hadn’t seen in years. “Kijung!” The greeting was full of surprise, but Jiyoung’s expression was that of warmth and welcome. He’d forgotten that alongside himself, his friend had also done his share of keeping his immortality hidden. “Is it that time already? I could swear we saw each other only a couple of years ago. Where did you travel to this time?” Even as he spoke, Jiyoung prompted Kijung to take a seat at the counter. “Anything to drink or eat? On the house.”
Hello~ It’s Beck! I’m doing a plot call for Jiyoung! It can be a regular thread or something for the event! If you’re interested in doing something with my muse just leave a like on this post and I’ll hop in your dms ^^
sohye loves christmas. you’d think, being a witch, she’d be the most partial towards halloween. but, while she would never pass up the indulgences of halloween night, she has a huge soft spot for christmas. which is why she’s dragged jiyoung out into this cold december night to partake in the gwanghwamun plaza christmas fest. sohye is clearly much more excited that her familiar companion, but that does not deter her. enjoying the festivities of christmas with a good friend by her side? what more could she ask for?
she stands next to him, near the large christmas tree, both hands cupped around a hot drink and she takes a moment to simply admire the sights. the lights, the smells, the decorations, all of it sparks a joy inside her, one that only christmas can bring. “isn’t christmas just… magical?” she says to jiyong, a sparkle in her eye. she’s aware of the irony of that statement, considering she can do actual magic, and christmas is, for all intents and purposes, just another day. but the magic of christmas that sohye’s talking about is different. it’s a feeling. it’s the warmth and the joy and the giving of it all. it’s the way it feels like anything can happen at christmas. maybe it’s naive of her to give in so deeply to the fantasy, but considering she spends almost every other day of the year talking to the dead, she thinks she’s earned some christmas spirit.
of course, just because she’s happy to enjoy the magic of christmas, doesn’t mean she’s not tempted to… enhance it, with some of her own. she spots a group of kids, not far away, making snowmen, and a mischievous grin spreads across her face. “hey,” she says to jiyoung, leaning in so only he can hear her. “wouldn’t it be fun to animate those snowmen? just a liiitle bit so they can wink and tip their hats at the children? I bet they’d love it!”
Christmas season again. Jiyoung stares up at the large Christmas tree with something akin to nostalgia, though he’s never been one to celebrate the winter holiday unless forced to. He glances down at the witch beside him who looks for all the world like a child living out her most precious dreams. It’s endearing. Jiyoung can’t remember the last time he’s seen such joyful innocence since he made a point to keep his distance from most everyone. Sohye was an exception. And the one to convince the familiar to attend this festival.
“‘Magical,’ huh?” He lifted his cup of hot cocoa to his lips and took a sip, mulling over her words. He’d never quite understood the ‘spirit’ of Christmas, what made it so full of wonder for Sohye and others like her. The snow? The presents? The romance? Celebrations like this one? He supposed, taking in the festivities and laughing families, that it had less to do with gifts and more to do with the time spent in the company of people you actually liked. He smiled softly at the witch. “Yeah, there’s something special about it, I guess.” He paused and lifted a brow. “Magical, though? You’d think you’d be all magicked out with how you spend the rest of the year.” He huffed a laugh at Sohye, amused at how whimsical she could be.
“Don’t even think about,” Jiyoung warned with a slight edge of concern in his voice. For as long as he’d known her, Sohye had always been a mischievous witch. Jiyoung was not bound to her, but as a close friend he couldn’t in good faith leave Sohye to her own devices. Luckily, she was the kind type, not one to cause a stir; but she always seemed to get a kick out of the familiar’s panic, even though he believed—most of the time—that she’d never cause a scene. Like animating an army of snowmen in the middle of a human crowd at a festival. Right? “‘Magical’ as you seem to think this holiday is, try to keep the real thing inside, hm? Leave the magic to Santa and his reindeer.”
