what time is it? summer introduction time!!!
ok first things first let me be real shallow and say look at that face look how pretty my god. but a pretty face does not a well-rounded character make. or something. so i guess here’s a snapshot of some backstory.
so jisoo’s rich. like, filthy rich. and seeing as his family are pretty traditional in the way they go about things, he’s going to inherit the family conglomerate and be the leader of the business when he grows up. it’s a role he’s been groomed for ever since he was a little boy, with a focus on politics, business, history, and maths in his education.
problem is, while jisoo handled the first three with ease, there was something about maths that just wouldn’t stick in his mind.
what he actually has is dyscalculia, but his family simply saw it as laziness and stupidity, and they pushed the poor kid to spend all of his free time poring over textbooks, which is probably why he’s pretty uptight, not really able to have fun.
another issue in jisoo’s life is that to attempt to bring better relations between his family’s business and a rival one, ever since he was a baby his parents planned to marry him to the other family’s daughter, lois. and yeah, she’s a nice enough kid, but really there’s not enough attraction there and certainly not enough passion to support a wedding at age seventeen, but it happened, and jisoo’s keeping quiet about it, hiding the ring. something feels sick, dirty, wrong, about being married to a woman he doesn’t love. he’s ashamed of it.
and what’s a further point for shame is that his wife is a numerical genius, a perfect businesswoman. and seeing this, his family have given him an ultimatum. if he can get through high school and college with an acceptable grade in mathematics, jisoo can be the head of the family business. if not, he’s going to inherit the position of a useless figurehead, with his wife lois actually managing the business. and jisoo hates feeling worthless, feeling dependent, and so to avoid the humiliation that that would bring he is working as hard as he can to fulfil the expectations placed upon him.
other little thingssss:
he’s not aware that he actually has a condition, he just thinks he’s ‘stupid’ or not working hard enough
jisoo is bisexual, but other than his literal wife he has never had a serious relationship
he and his wife have never consummated the marriage they haven’t done the frick-frack i’m actually 12
he loves cats and is literally terrified of dogs
he plays piano pretty well but is not some kind of prodigy
honestly he’s reasonably antisocial and a pretty dull person
connections-wise i’m just really looking for anybody to help him come out of his shell, be it a best friend, an enemy, or anything in-between! this guy needs to loosen up, fellas!
