Exploring World War One Heritage on and near Paganel Primary School.
Our Unremembered wreath has been presented to the Foreign Secretary and Commonwealth Foreign Ministers at a lunchtime reception as part of ...
Inviting communities to commemorate the brave sacrifices of the Labour Corps - resources and links to find out more.
Wreath prepared to post for the Heads of the Commonwealth to lay at the cenotaph later this month following the Heads of Commowealth meeting in London.
Each flower is made by children from years 3 to 6 from Paganel Primary School following whole school assembly to launch our ‘Field of Remembrance’ project.
'Tell them we were eternally young, believed in the old lie, how sweet and honorable to die for the mother country. Tell them we marched on foreign soil against tyranny, even when we were called boys, sambos and darkies but we were men proud to heed Kitchener’s call..'
The commonwealth war graves commission names the 500 World War One burials at the Cemetery.
Some useful background info about the Cemetery and burials of New Zealand World War One soldiers there.
Fantastic launch of our project, Field of Remembrance - well done our ‘Field of Archives’ team supporting making of flowers by all pupils from years 3 to 6 at Paganel School - I’ll be forwarding a beautiful wreath to the Heads of Commonwealth meeting for them to place at the Cenotaph in London this April.
‘Lest we forget’, great place to start with the ‘Unremembered’ of the Labour Corps, many of which are buried at Lodge Hill Cemetery - see our whole school assembly presentation for details on the four soldiers buried at Lodge Hill Cemetery we researched who served in the Labour Corps.
Also thanks to B’ham Music Service and Paganel School guitarists for providing themed tunes for the Guitar group to play at the assembly!
Collecting, recording and preserving the stories of Paganel school and community.
