while as a black woman and a phantom of the opera fan i understand @phandombigotryarchive ‘s and @asianphancollective ‘s frustrations with phandom i completely condemn their actions. this is absolutely disgusting and as a person of color you ought to be absolutely ashamed of yourself. this behavior is literally the reason why people (especially white people) think that people of color, especially black people, are constantly aggressive, vitriolic, and hateful of anyone who is not like them. you are putting a stain onto a entire community.

you’ve completely ruined the entire atmosphere of phandom, a place of understanding, fun, and community. yes, are there problems within the source material and people’s takes? of course. nothing is perfect? are there takes that are outwardly racist? probably. that doesn’t mean you have the right hunting people down. people who haven’t even done anything.

In light of the recent PostPlus nonsense tumblr is trying to pull, here's a reminder that monetization of fanfiction can lead you to legal trouble. On Ao3 it's against the TOS to even mention any money-sending site at all because of the conditonal protection they offer.

Putting your entire fanfiction blog behind a paywall is like pointing a neon sign saying "please sue me". I bring this up specifically because tumblr mentioned fanfiction in the post that they made and that is going to leave a lot of people misinformed.

Remember: Do NOT paywall your fanworks.

And rest assured, my blog will never be pay-to-read, even if this weren't a fanfiction blog. I think the whole thing is ridiculous.

As excited as I am about Phantom returing to West End, and featuring a cast with some much needed diversity, I’m still not able to forget that:

They sacked their whole cast and crew THROUGH GODDAMN ZOOM, and replaced them with the UK Tour cast and new people. For no obvious reason.

They’v cut the orchestra to a minimum - in a time where each single job means so much. Amplify and replace as much as you like, it’s still a cheaper version. I’ve heard this version in Hamburg, Copenhagen and the World Tour. It works, but it’s a cheaper version. Period.

They’ve changed the proscenium substantially, yet calling it the original version.

Seeing the beautiful new rehearsal photos therefore leaves a foul taste in my mouth. I’m SO HAPPY for the leads of the new cast. But I can’t forget the sacrifices done along the way, and how rotten the producer and composer has treated those who gave the show life for so many years.

Hence… forgive me if I seem to lack enthusiasm about each new photo and video. It makes me think of the full orchestra with HARP goddamnit, of Kelly Mathieson, Scott Davies, Ellen Jackson and Philip Griffiths, of the backstage and front of house crew, of the proscenium, of the original version which is no more. Of people in the industry treated so rotten when they were already on the ground, by people whose wealth is substancial - much due to the hard work of these very people. Not a pretty sight.

I am. So tired. 😫

Having to use a wheelchair 90% of the time to move is infuriating. Relearning to navigate the world and seeing it from a literal new perspective is really, really shocking. And despite the fact that my legs do not work and my neuromuscular disease has rapidly progressed to the point I thought I wouldn’t be in for at least five years, I may not qualify for disability benefits.

And if I do, I can’t get married. Or have more than $2k in my bank and my medications cost more than that. Or have. A source of income besides less than the poverty wage allotted to me. Because the United States Social Security System is fucked.

But y’all can genuinely help. I’m not asking for money. No one is. We are asking you to interact with a text bot that sends a letter to your senator for you. It takes two minutes. Read this post. Send a text. Help disabled people achieve independence and support.

Public support does help. It’s Disability Pride Month. Show some support. Two minutes of your time. I want this and the post I cited reblogged from each of you. Please, please please. I hate begging but I will do it because I’m that desperate. If you’re not in the US the least you can do is reblog.

Hi, not sure if you have seen but Emma Harris is joining the London cast as Madame Firmin & 2nd cover Madame Giry.

Does this make her the first Meg to Madame Giry performer?

I believe you're right. At least of principal Megs. There's probably some understudy or non-replica casting I'm not quite on top on.

Closest I can think of is that original ballerina and later resident choreographer Patricia Merrin also understudied Madame Giry in the original West End cast, according to cast lists. But I don't think she ever played Meg.
