People have already written extensive posts about it. I had a big post about how boyfriends hate is just ācringe cultureā doing its thing and being used to attack marginalized creators people donāt like. Kinda sad I lost the post when I deactivated my old account.
I block people who needlessly hate on boyfriends, the hate is mostly rooted in cringe culture, racism, and transphobia.
So many people try to paint the creator of boyfriends as a āstraight white cis woman fetishizing Asian menā when in reality heās an Asian gay trans man writing about gay men.
Wait I have more to say.
The harassment of the creator of boyfriends follows the same pattern of every other big transphobic harassment campaign and it really feels like a lot of people ignore it and try to act like they arenāt engaging in transphobic harassment when they do their āsilly little hate postsā about boyfriends. He was stalked. His accounts online were dug through to find any excuse to call him a predator, homophobic, etc. People found old bts shit he drew when he was a minor and used it as an excuse to call him a danger to gay men.
The same pattern of harassment that happens everytime a trans person becomes a target online. Their sexuality is put on display as a freak show to the whole internet and everything they make is interpreted as perverted and sexual.
He also got the very common treatment of being falsely labeled as privileged. This is also common in transphobic harassment. Someone is falsely claimed to be privileged so itās āokayā to harass them. Him being Asian was ignored. Him being gay was ignored. Him being trans was ignored. People just called him a white straight cis woman. Iāve had to tell my own trans guy friends that the creator of boyfriends is a trans guy because the lie thatās heās a cis women was spread so much.
People saw a trans man be ācringeā (expressing himself) and used it was an excuse to harass him.
