Very sad news arrived yesterday. Verda Williams (far right) one of the producers and host of the 1970's NBC television series Positively Black with Labelle (L-R = Nona Hendryx Patti LaBelle Sarah Dash) a good friend of many years died suddenly in Des Moines, Iowa. Verda, will be deeply missed by Nova, her daughter and our God-Daughter, her family, co workers in television and friends. Positively Black, produced by Verda Williams; a Black Woman and 'Soul!' produced by Ellis Haizlip, a Black Man were the two television shows during the 70's that helped define Black culture and politics.
