I’ll make a confession: I’m terrible at listening. Especially during lectures. I can sit through an entire lecture and and come out of it not being able to recollect a single sentence I wrote. Sometimes mid-lecture a friend will ask me to clarify something and I won’t even know the general topic they’re asking about. Honestly, the only reason I even go to lectures is to force myself to write the lecture notes (because otherwise they won’t be written). What this means is, during the Christmas holidays, I get to enjoy spending two days writing all my lecture notes again. But, within the next two days after that, I am generally able to do most of a past paper. I’m not really sure what my point is - I don’t recommend doing this (I wish I could listen in lectures - it would save a lot of time over the holidays). I guess maybe I’m trying to say that even if you’re a mess like me, there is some hope at the end of the tunnel that - with some effort and resilience - you can end up being not so much of a mess. 🤷🏽‍♀️
