Lir shrugged. âMight just be a coincidence,â she mused. âwere you under any sort of stress lately?I figure your powers might well be connected to your emotional state, so if youâre stressedâŠthey could well act out?â A small flame burst on Noriâs fingertip as the time agent spoke; it would seem she was recovering-slower than Lir had expected, though she didnât say this.
âIâd say theyâd possess a very good sense of taste and adventure, actually,â Lir grinned back to Noriâs words. âTheyâd be damn lucky too. To find you,â she winked.
She still ignored the soldiers, who seemed significantly wary of the two of them-and with damn good reason, as far as the time agent was concerned. A spray of some gas flew towards them, Lir lowering her helmet visor once more hurriedly. âThat thing I gave you? Nothing they throw at you is going to work on you,â she informed Nori smoothly.âWhatever means of subduing mutants theyâve got is useless against you now,â she explained as Nori called forth a fireball; yup, anger definitely worked as a means to enhance her powers, the blonde noted. âKeep one of them alive; I have someâŠquestions,âNori couldnât see the smirk on her lips behind the helmet now, but she should be able to hear her tone well enough; it was a dangerous one.
âGood taste,â Nori said, âprobably got the worst taste in their life. â
As the soldiers entered, the girl glowered at them. Now the fire was back in her, she could feel it returning to its rightful place, âgood,â she said, âthey deserve nothing less.â The girl smirked, âgood to know,â she said, âyou take that one then,â she said, âIâm going to make work of this stupid squad.â More soldiers appeared in the hallway screaming and shouting, âand then we both take this lot on --between the two of us Iâm guessing itâll take two minutes.â She stood where she was, as the soldier approached.
âThey want you back, bird girl,â he said.
âToo fucking bad,â Nori said. She shot out a hand, sending a wave of fire down the hallway where it exploded all around the scientists. She tried to ignore the smell of burning flesh and uniform, then turned to the armoured guards, âLir, think that oneâs more your style,â she said, âand then weâre getting my friends.â
