ofmythsandfables // vlad:
—- Normally he would have been quick to catch his love as he threw himself at him, but Vlad was a weaker version of himself, and so he banged into the doorframe with a groan but never once let his lips part from James’. His arms encircled his lover and held him as close as he could, not wanting to let him go for another second, and the warmth the radiated against him was a welcoming feeling. One he’d missed terribly.
“Draga…” he murmured, his voice hoarse and gravelly instead of its usual velvety tone, “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry…”
Tears began to form, making his green depths look like glistening pools when he finally opened them to gaze upon James. He searched his face, committing every little inch to memory, yet still placing kiss upon kiss to reddened lips. “I had to… I had to leave. I had to for your safety. I needed to keep you safe from him…”
Droplets freely fell down battered cheeks as he then clung helplessly to James. His face dipped into the crook of the kitsune’s neck and inhaled deeply, suddenly needing to be engulfed in his presence for his own comfort. The vampire wanted nothing more than to be held by him, to love and be loved. But he knew he owed James an explanation. And James needed to make the decision whether or not he wanted him still.
the sound vlad made upon impact was alarming, but the joy that filled james’ heart was too overwhelming to stop & check on his lover right this moment. he’d do that later. he looked so tired, so disheveled - james couldn’t help but wonder what happened to him? james didn’t feel like talking despite the nagging voice of curiosity demanding answers. but vlad had something to say & james would let him speak.
content to just hold the vampire, james let him nestle against him, arms wound around his shoulders. he was overjoyed to feel vlad against him again, to taste him against his lips, to hear his voice once again. he’d been so worried, convinced his beloved had died somewhere all alone without saying goodbye. “shhh.” he’d never seen vlad cry, never thought he could & the sight broke his heart. he held him tighter, one of his hands burrowing fingers into vlad’s hair.
he could hold him forever like this, but this was not the place. “vlad, c-come... sit. w-we can talk, a-after.” pulling away a little, he waited until the other looked at him, then offered a little smile & motioned over to the door. the could curl up on the couch in the living room. he wanted to know why.
