pre-school, elementary school, middle school in KANTO
(13) took a gap year as is traditional to go on his pokemon journey with LEAF, she’s his first girlfriend for a couple of months, etc. beats the kanto gym leaders. BLAINE tells fire that he has potential, but he can’t take any shortcuts
(14) went to public high school for like half a semester before he got kicked out for dealing drugs and soda
(14-15) he took the rest of the year off and traveled through JOHTO, finishes up all the gym leaders but doesn’t make it past the e4
(15-19) forced to go to FP in UNOVA now a year behind in school; he was supposed to finish high school before he was allowed to consider becoming a professional trainer. over the summers, back in KANTO, he has a recurring and awful fling with LEAF.
(17-18) the thing with KRIS. fire struggles in school
(19) crushes on BLUE pretty hard. bffs who make out. dropped out right before graduating— let’s face it, school’s not for everyone, stayed in unova, washed dishes and waited tables in striatron for a while thanks to CHILI, challenges gym leaders in his free time. he makes it halfway past the e4 which gives him the confidence to start training to go pro.
(20) when he defeats ALDER and the unova league, he returns to KANTO briefly and finally tells his MOM he dropped out of school. has a moment of weakness with LEAF but then tells her he’s outgrown their relationship for good. fire attempts to defeat the indigo league, but is beaten by KOGA. koga explains that for now, there aren’t many prospects for a battling career in the region since there are very few positions and they are all competitive. fire moves back to UNOVA because he doesn’t want to wash dishes again. tries his hand at tournaments now that he qualifies with the hall of fame. he wins driftveil and a couple others, then goes on the world circuit (like the olympics?) that summer where he’s the dark horse. he’s first in unova and in the top five for kanto and johto. then there’s a surprise eighth place in hoenn. fire meets BRAWLY while competing in this one, who recommends more traveling to identify and study new pokemon. it’s kind of a whirlwind.
(21- now) starts to get recognized. he moves to HOENN for a few months (oct-march) to check out the battle maison and do a few tournaments. has an unpleasant run-in with KRIS. dates MAY semi-seriously. lived underground for a while, but after the paychecks came in, split his time between a hotel or BRAWLY’S. after it’s all over he returns to the KANTO/JOHTO region to visit BLUE. gets rejected, but it’s cool. decides to finish the indigo league. meets up with BLAINE again and tells him what’s happened over the last 10 years. blaine lets him train at his gym and treats fire like he is his own son.
(22) by pure luck manages to defeat LANCE. lance offers to mentor him. fire trains on mt silver all fucking winter. ofc. he learns a lot from blaine, who critiques his battling and gives him books to read. KOGA retires and fire joins the e4 as the lowest ranking member, but he works his way up. blaine passes away and it’s sad.
(25) is like second in line. old man lance is preparing to retire, but fire realizes he’s still not good enough to take his place. he travels a long ass time in remaining regions like SINNOH and KALOS. meets a bunch of women.
(27) comes back to find RED as champ. but red resigns like, immediately because he’s found a worthy competitor and he’s tired of the job. OK. red has hired KRIS in the meanwhile which is. awesome. dates a girl named SELPHY lol
