Meeting The Frost | Gavin & Jack
The silent caves, endless shadows and emptiness. It was where it was the best to hide, and lie without saying a word. Without thinking a thought. It was where Gavin was resting, lonely in the dark. When there had been no other places to go, an extinct volcano had been a perfect option. It was far away from people, far away from everything. And it was enough.
A sigh left the youngster’s lungs as Gavin was being curled up under the shelter of shadows. It had been months now since he had been outside the last time, but it he didn’t care. This gave him peace, until…
A distant sound of something rustling against the cave walls pulled Gavin up off the ground. His pale golden eyes were open and he looked at the entrance of the cave hall he was currently in. Was it an animal? No, it couldn’t be. But what was it then?
It hadn’t actually been Jack’s plan to sneak into an old volcano, but after he had discovered it from the middle of nowhere, his curiosity had grown too much for him to ignore it. It had taken a while as he had tried to find the way in til he found his way to the top of the mountain. There had been a small hole, and Jack had floated in silently.
Soon his feet had met with the cold floor of the main cave. It had been dark, but it hadn’t scared him off. Oh, no, Jack had tilted his head before he had chosen a hallway, which he then followed.
And after a moment he saw how the caves were forming a labyrinth of their own, and he had taken a turn til he had arrived to an entrance of a cave room. Jack stopped, noticing something moving in the shadows.
"There’s someone here…?" he whispered, frowning in wonder.
As soon as Gavin recognized a figure of a human being, he hopped onto his feet like an animal and he retreated deeper into the shadows. His fingers were curled, and he could feel the fire warming in his palms as he was getting ready for an attack.
Then he heard a voice, a voice of a young boy. Maybe around his age. And was he a human? And how had he managed to sneak into the mountain?
"Back... off..." Gavin growled in the corner. He hadn't been moving much for a long time, and he wasn't sure if he could defend himself if there was a fight of some kind coming.
