What I try and stand for is just being human. I think with our records I just want to talk about what it’s like being a person. I think it’s alright to be truly dynamic. The thing that’s a bit more striking is that the music on all of our records is quite colourful, quite uplifting and the way it works is similar to uplifting pop songs but its juxtaposed with this narrative that is me beating myself up or talking about things that make me and other people uncomfortable, there’s a morose darkness to the stuff that I write about. People engage with that. People like being given either permission or context to think about those things. To be able to deal with those things in a safe environment, rather than just in their own mind.
