A World of My Own || Attina && Ariel
Ariel merely laughed at her sister’s question, seeing as she had already reasoned it in her head that she was indeed being helpful by clinging to Attina. But there were more important, exciting things to talk about and arguing over such a small matter didn’t seem quite so significant just then.
“Thank you,” she said, sincerely. When she had first made the deal with Ursula to become a human, she never expected to see her family again, let alone have them support her change in lifestyle. But a lot had happened between that deal and now, and Ariel was all the happier for it. “What about you? How are things going back ho— back in Atlantica?” She nearly referred to the sea as home, but caught herself. It was her home, once, but now she couldn’t exactly refer to it as such. She had a new home, a new life.
Still holding out the outfit, she shook her head, red hair flying about her face. “This is actually less fabric than a lot of humans wear usually. You would stick out like a sore fin wearing just a skirt and shells.” She understood where Attina was coming from, having made the transition herself. Mermaids were not modest at all in comparison to humans, and it had taken a little bit of time to get used to the idea of so many layers.
“Atlantica? Well-- it’s quieter without you,” she teased. Attina laughed and shook her head. “No, home is good, we all miss you. I’ve been studying a lot. I’m nervous about taking the throne eventually.”
Attina shrugged, nothing too new was going on. Ariel seemed to be the one with all of the excitement. There was nothing of note to tell her about. Which was why coming up here with Ariel.
“I feel like I’m just going to get tangled up in all that fabric,” she sighed. She stood on the sand, waves lapping at her feet as she looked over the dress her sister had for her. “How do I put it on?”
