Video of Basil cutting the balsa wood for the physics project. What we decided to do is that we will make the left side of the bridge first and then make the right part. We decided to cut the pieces of balsa wood relative to each other so it comes out more precise.
Bridge day 1
Today was the first day of working on the bridge. Basil and I didn't start cutting yet; we just worked on our plan. We decided to go with the design in the picture above. The middle beam will be the thickest with four equal peices of basal wood glued together then as we move away from the center, the pieces get thinner. We also decided to have supports on the bottom so the bridge will have more stability. We decided to do a one to one method meaning that we will create a life sized drawing of our bridge on paper, and then cut up the balsa wood according to the paper. We are almost finished with our life sized drawing.

Our first day of service saw us in Canto Grande. This poor barrio (called a ‘pueblo joven’ in Peru) is on the outskirts of Lima. It is there that the Christian Brothers run a school called ‘Fe y Alegria 26’, one of a system of schools funded by the government but run by religious communities which...

Homework due 1/12/12
Homework was pretty straightforward. Apart of the word problems really the only thing that you needed to know was the specific heat formula we learned in class.
Specific heat
Measured in many different ways however the common unit is J/celsiustimes kilograms. Each object has its own measurement of specific heat which dictates how much energy needs to be put in to acquire a significant temperature change. Of all the substances, liquid water has the highest specific heat meaning more energy is required to substantially changed the temperature of liquid water.
No hw
No physics hw this day would have been perfect if I didn't have a test and a quiz to study for
Homework
Homework took forever because I had to keep looking back at the textbook. The hints weren't very helpful
lab
Lab writeup was easy just finished. The only question i have is on number 4. I got an answer of .11J for the work done to stretch the spring 10 centimeters. Did everyone get that or something close to it.
Homework
Homework was actually hard don't really get specific gravity and pressure. Tomorrows class has to be really helpful or I am going to do bad on that part of the test on wednesday
Homework was really easy only took like 20 minutes. I posted number 33 which i thought was the hardest of the problems.
