First Time for Everything - [Past - Natasha and Bucky]
Casually, James’ eyes drifted up, catching the curtain move. There was a flash of a face, beard and crooked nose enough for James to know that was their man. He put down the empty tea cup, and sat forward. Two fingers tapped on the dish, a signal that it was time to move. The corner of his lip turned up, as James stood and offered Natalia a hand. “Ready to leave, darling?” he murmured in Russian.
It would be her job to distract, his to grab the briefcase, and together they’d bring it to the safehouse.
Natalia heard him tap on the dish and she took his hand. Taking a deep breath, she gave him a flirtacious crooked grin, as if they were going to go spend some time together in somewhere a little less crowded. "More ready than you think, sweetheart.", Natalia purred and stood up, taking his hand. To anyone else looking from inside the cafe, they would not realise just what they had planned.
Making sure they were not watched, she quickly crossed the street. There was an flat that was to rent close by and that gave her an idea, which suddenly gave her confidence.
Opening the front door, she looked in. As she suspected, the house was split into flats. Seeing no one around, she walked up the stairs. She had not bothered looking for names on the front door. The people they wanted, would not be using their real names, so what was the point?
Knocking on the door, assuming Bucky would be hidden to one side out of view, she prepared her most winning smile as she waited to hear the door open.
"Hello! I've just moved into the downstairs flat and you'd never believe this but I forgot to bring some tea. Would you be able to help me?" Her voice sounded breathy and innocent even to her own ears. Hopefully the man would fall for the rouse.
Weaving Webs - Peter and Natasha
“Sure thing. You’re the international super-spy who could probably kill me in forty-six different ways while sleepwalking. What you say goes.”
Peter follows Natasha’s graceful, practised motions with fluid mirrored movements. He stays quiet for almost half a minute before speaking up again.
“So, um, did you ever name any of the moves in your repertoire? Can I expect to be taken down by the Eight-Fold Taratula Atemi? Ooh, maybe the Woven Orb Onslaught Pin?”
Natasha started to move, using her skills against a dummy she'd unhooked from the wall. Peter was watching her and admittedly, he performed the same movements as she did, not as practiced but she recognised flexibility he used just from jumping from building to building.
Then he ruined it. “So, um, did you ever name any of the moves in your repertoire? Can I expect to be taken down by the Eight-Fold Taratula Atemi? Ooh, maybe the Woven Orb Onslaught Pin?”
Rolling her eyes, she turned her movements on Spiderman, gripping his wrist and pushing him firmly against the dummy. "NO, I don't name my moves. Did anyone ever tell you, you can be annoying when you can't keep your mouth shut?" Letting go of him, she smirked. "Tell you what, why don't we spar directly instead? That way you have to keep your mouth closed while fighting." What was this kid, Tony Stark's bastard son?
First Time for Everything - [Past - Natasha and Bucky]
“Hmm,” James answered, settling back in his chair, overlooking the street in front of him. If all went according to plan, the mark would be making a trip soon, all to pass on the briefcase to one of their men. In a different time, the Winter Soldier would have just taken the mark out, picked up the briefcase on his own.
Of course, he had Natalia as his ward for this mission. He took a moment to eye her, looking even younger than she was in her picked up clothing. Beautiful, but young. She wasn’t ready for a mission to go south yet, still too green. “I expect we’ll have plenty of time to finish our tea.”
Her left hand moved towards her knife strapped to her leg, before pulling back. One less thing for the Winter Soldier to pull her up on. She wanted her first dual mission to go well, wanted him to be proud of her. The idea of him being proud of her... well she loved the idea. Instead, she moved her hand to the opposite side of her cup.
Nodding at his remark, she continued to watch the seeming empty house. Yet she had a feeling it was not as empty as it looked. Glancing up, she saw the rags in the top window move. Natalia raised her foot and tapped his ankle to get James attention. "Look up." She murmured in English. She needed some way to gain his attention and the conversations around them had raised - a man arguing with his wife about what he wanted for his dinner. She put her cup down, waiting for him to tell her what their next move was.
First Time for Everything - [Past - Natasha and Bucky]
He could sense the tension in her, and if James knew it was there, somebody else could notice as well. “Darling,” he said, dipping his head down to speak in her ear, all the while keeping a pleasant smile on his face. Running his hand down the center of her spine in an attempt to calm, he continued, “Why don’t you find a spot in the sun. I’ll bring over some tea.”
Shooing Natalia away, James made his way to the counter, casually eyeing the rest of the patrons. Their mark wasn’t in the shop, but across the way. Never hurt to be prepared, though. His eyes ran over Natalia’s lithe form, sun light making her hair glow. She was beautiful, he’d be a fool not to notice, but they were on a mission. There wasn’t any time for that.
Tea in hand, he met her back at the table, nodding his approval for the location. Now they just need to wait.
The hand in the centre of her back gave her pause, knowing he was trying to help her to calm down. Nodding at his words, she simply smiled and walked over to the table close to the window, making sure there was good view of the place over the road.
Right now, though the sun was streaming in through the window, she hoped that would block the view of anyone looking too closely into the cafe window. She glanced around as she saw her partner return with tea. Listening to the chatter from the people behind them, she thought that would be good to cover up anything they might need to say to each other.
"Thank you, sweetheart." Natalia murmured, adding lemon to her tea as he sat next to her. The black door over the road was the one they were watching. Sipping her tea she said, "Nothing so far."
First Time for Everything - [Past - Natasha and Bucky]
Though there was a smirk on James’ lips, his eyes were hard. He was more than willing to play the game, even enjoyed it a little, but there was a job to do. He watched Natalia put on her mask, even if her cheeks were the tiniest bit of pink. A note he filed away for later.
“The cafe up the street has a lovely view, wouldn’t you agree?” James asked, eyes roaming over her dress, deciding where she could keep a weapon on her. Niether of them were foolish enough to start a mission without one. His sentence was code, one he assumed she’d pick up on easily enough, James was the one that trained her, after all.
“The cafe up the street has a lovely view, wouldn’t you agree?” James asked. Sensing his eyes moving over her clothes, she nodded.
"I would. On the left leg of the road?" She gestured towards where she knew the cafe would be knowing his words had another meaning. Her eyes skimmed the area in front them as they walked. Dropping her arm from through his, Natalia found her hand gripping her bag a little tighter. Breathe and no giveaways, Natalia. Instead, she walked in front as she saw the small cafe and pushed open the door.
"A tea would be nice, sweetheart." She left her voice light.
First Time for Everything - [Past - Natasha and Bucky]
James was leaning against the doorframe, the navy suit barely hiding his size, or the gun holstered away inside the jacket. They might be going on a reconnoissance mission, but the Winter Soldier was never unprepared. Besides, the girl standing in front of him, dolled up like someone he’d long forgotten, was too green to be relied on, nevermind if he was the one that trained her.
Still, it should be a simple mission, one he could use to sharpen her, take this girls edges and smooth them out, taper them into the tool they needed to win. Always to win.
And she was the best. Top of her class, the only one James would even consider taking with him. It helped that she was easy on the eyes, too.
He smirked down at her, “I was born ready. How about you, gorgeous?”
“I was born ready. How about you, gorgeous?”
Natasha did not want to react to the Winter Soldier calling her gorgeous. It was just an act, she knew but that did not explain the flip-flop feeling in her stomach that seemed to link directly to her cheeks.
Natasha gave him a cool smile, bringing her training back to bear, to beat down any feelings she might have. "You know I am." Determined to do the best she could, to make her mentor proud, she asked, a playful lilt to her tone,"So just where are you taking me, муж?". Slipping into character as she locked the door and put her arm through his. They were supposed to be married after all...
Weaving Webs - Peter and Natasha
Peter arches an eyebrow at the mention of a warm up, but goes along with it anyway.
“Actually, I think it was Stark’s idea,” he says absent-mindedly as he stretches in mirror to Natasha’s movements. “Fury wasn’t real keen on the idea, but we kinda managed to talk him into this whole trainee thing.”
He idly flexes in the other direction.
“I mean, I’d be kinda an idiot to turn down the training on offer from SHIELD, right? The fact that it’ll make a certain newspaper editor eat his own words is just icing on the cake.”
Stark's idea? That was not what she expected to hear. "Fury can be very - stolid in his idea's and need a bit of persuading at times." Natasha watched as he exercised.
“I mean, I’d be kinda an idiot to turn down the training on offer from SHIELD, right? The fact that it’ll make a certain newspaper editor eat his own words is just icing on the cake.”
Natasha shook her head as he talked about the person she assumed was his boss. "Ok I'll do some movements and you follow me. Is that ok?"
It’s in the stars It’s been written in the scars on our hearts We’re not broken just bent And we can learn to love again {x}
First Time for Everything - [Past - Natasha and Bucky]
(Set in 1950's Russia - Natasha's first mission with the Winter Soldier)
Natasha sat in front of a small cracked mirror in her room, putting on her make up. She had little in the way of make up, a stolen powder compact, lipstick, eyeliner – also stolen. She was dressed in a black slip and was trying to go over all the details of the sting in her mind. She and the Winter Soldier were pretending to be newlyweds. They were to follow someone and pick up some details. The person concerned was suspected of crimes against the Soviet state and they needed evidence of this.
Raising her slip, she strapped a knife to her leg, before putting the rest of her clothes on, a skirt and blouse, small heeled shoes. As she brushed her hair, she applied a final coat of pink lipstick, not a colour she liked but the only one she could find. Hearing a knock at the door, she shouted,” Just a minute”. Taking her bag and coat from by the door, she gave herself a final look. If it all went wrong, she had the knife and her own abilities. Blowing a kiss at the mirror as a good luck charm, she opened the door and raised her eyes at the man stood there.
“Well, hello. You ready?” Natasha gave him a sly smile in her character, and put her coat on.
Last Time I Saw You...- Logan and Natasha
Logan smiled. It was good to see her again. Seeing such a familiar face was bringing back so many memories. It was really helping him. She also looked amazing. She looked stunning before, but now, she had gotten so much better.
“Sounds like one big super sleepover to me,” he laughed, sipping his beer. He looked around the room, admiring the art. “Tony really is just sweating money, isn’t he?” he smirked, seeing the expensive looking television that he was going to definitely take advantage of.
As she asked if he had changed, he shrugged. “I dunno. You’re the one who hasn’t seen me for a while, you tell me,”.
She definitely seemed different, but then again, she acted the same. She spoke the same and her mannerisms were the same. “Oh, so Hawky’s here too is he?” Logan smiled, remembering how he used to tease the man.
“So. You work for…..S.H.I.E.L.D now, correct?” he asked, looking her over. “But…you work for Tony as well?”. It was so confusing, but he qas glad she was there to explain it.
“Tony really is just sweating money, isn’t he?”
Natasha shrugged. "It seems like that at times. Good of him to let us all stay though."
She looked back at Logan and shook her head. "You've barely changed at all." A few extra lines round the eyes but that covered everyone who had serum or modifications. Most peoples changes were in their eyes, an extra layer of darkness.
She chuckled at his nickname for Clint, knowing how much he'd hate it. “So. You work for…..S.H.I.E.L.D now, correct?” Natasha nodded. "Both myself and Clint do."
“But…you work for Tony as well?”
"No, the Avenger Initiative is all part of something the director of SHIELD dreamt up. Tony is only a part of that. If anyone, Steve Rogers is the leader of that group."
Natasha grinned. "Though I did work for Tony once. If you want to see the man squirm, just ask him about Natalie Rushman and see what he says." The idea appealed to her warped humour. Admit it, Romanoff, you've been hanging round Barton too long...
Last Time I Saw You...- Logan and Natasha
Logan opened the beer with one of his claws, flicking the lid off and then retracting the adamantium back into his skin. It was useful, he’d give it that. He drank thirstily, sighing happily. As she rattled off the list of people, he almost spat out his drink.
“Hulk? As in….big guy with the….the green?” he asked, looking around as if he was about to drop in from the ceiling. “In an apartment? In probably the most stressed apartment complex in the world? Good plan,” he smirked, bringing his beer over to sit on the massive couch.
She seemed so adjusted here. She was happy, and he was glad for that. They had been through so much together. He’d even helped train her. It was such a different time. This wasn’t their time anymore. They should have died long before this, but the Universe had other plans apparently.
Logan didn’t really know what to tell her, but he knew it would be the truth. He could never really lie to her. Besides, there was no point, she was a very skilled interrogator. “The usual. Looking for answers. Teaching a class of unruly mutants how not to kill each other,” he sighed, shaking his head. One thing he wouldn’t miss now would be the marking of stupid assignments. That reminded him. He would need to call Xavier.
“Ah yes. Saw that on the news,” he said, shaking his head. “Since when did we have to start dealing with aliens?”. It was all getting ridiculous. Super soldiers, Super assassins, mutants, and now Gods. He was waiting for the day when the Earth just crumbled under the pressure, and he had begun to wonder if that was such a bad thing after all.
“So, what is your place in all of this? Running around with Super heroes and aliens? Didn’t think this would be your scene,” he smirked, watching her. “But, I suppose, people change,”.
“Hulk? As in….big guy with the….the green?” he asked, looking around as if he was about to drop in from the ceiling. “In an apartment? In probably the most stressed apartment complex in the world? Good plan,”
Natasha shrugged. "Not my idea. That's Stark's but he does have a heavy duty apartment in case he 'goes green'."
When she'd asked him about what he was doing lately, the reply about teaching mutants not to kill each other. Natasha chuckled, "Wait a minute, you're Wolverine the school teacher?" she teased.
"I have no idea why we had to deal with aliens. It seems... ludicrous now but it happened and we had to be ready for it."
“So, what is your place in all of this? Running around with Super heroes and aliens? Didn’t think this would be your scene, but, I suppose, people change,”.
Natasha gave him a chuckle at his description. "Yeah it seems completely mad when you think about it. But my boss wanted me and my partner Hawkeye as part of it. Neither of us are superheroes or gods. Actually, neither is Tony Stark but he is a genius I suppose."
Pausing slightly, she said, "You mean you've not changed after all this time, Logan?"
Weaving Webs - Peter and Natasha
“Does beating up on crazy costumed criminals count as exercise?” Peter asks with a nervous chuckle. “But I’m pretty sure some of it just comes with the whole spider thing.”
He falls quiet as Natasha resumes speaking, scratching the back of his head as she asks him for specifics.
“I honestly hadn’t thought about it much. I guess maybe we could go a round, let you have a look at my improvised fighting and see what I could work on.”
Natasha nodded. "Fighting counts a little, course it does, but perhaps lets warm up and then see how you fight now."
Walking into the centre of the mats, she stretched her left arm over her head. "But we both need to warm up first. Reps of eight, legs slightly apart, right hand on the hip and move your torso over to the right." Making sure his stance was correct. she moved in a similar way then told him to change sides.
"So was this your idea or was it Fury's? Joining the Avengers I mean."
Insomnia Calls - Bucky & Natasha
Natasha allowed a smile to touch her face as he agreed they had spent too much time apart. But they were certainly catching up now, his lips touching her hair.
“Stay here tonight.”
Natasha looked up at him, debating what she should do. Yet she knew she slept best when sharing a bed with someone she trusted. Catching his hand with hers, she kissed his palm, allowing her tongue to stroke his skin.
“You know that’s what I want.” Natasha whispered and moved further up his body to kiss him, skin pressed against skin, her fingers discovering his skin again as they did so many years earlier. Tonight, she was his. Tomorrow would bring what it must.
He grinned up at her, kissing her soundly. Bucky’s hands ran over her body, touching her, drawing out the comfort from skin on skin contact. When his hands felt the goosebumps on her arms, he pulled away for a moment, reaching for the blanket at the edge of the bed. For half a moment he considered changing the sheets, but Bucky decided he was far to lazy for that.
Instead, he pulled the comforter up their bodies, settled it around them both.
“Better?” he asked, even as his lips ghosted over her neck, as Bucky lay down again, Natasha’s body close to his.
Natasha purred as his hands traced over her skin, making her shiver a little. Pressed against him, she felt their skin cool down. The events of the evening were starting to take their toll on her and as he pulled the comforter round them both.
As he kissed her neck, she realised the events of the evening were starting to take their toll on her. "I have you with me, your arms round me. Not sure what else I could ask for." Natasha placed a gentle kiss on his neck before covering her mouth as a yawn escaped.
Insomnia Calls - Bucky & Natasha
When his lips met hers, she almost smiled. They had exhausted themselves and his lips on hers, fingers on her now sensitive skin made her feel exhilarated, his warm hand leaving a trail of heat along her skin.
Natasha watched as he collapsed back on the bed, smiling as he told her it was good. “Hmm I thought it was.” She grinned as he pulled her close, feeling the warmth of his body against her. Putting her head on his chest, she placed a kiss to his now cooling skin, moved her hand up to where the skin joined with the metal of his arm.
“I .. missed you.”Nat murmured, listening to his heartbeat. That was no lie, it felt good to be here with him. “Next time, let’s not leave it so long.” She kissed him gently on the chest, on one particularly prominent scar. A hand in her hair told her he was hearing her.
Bucky ran a hand through Natasha’s tangled hair, watching the blonde strands slip between his fingers. He kissed the top of her head, “You know I missed you, too. Too much time apart.” Bucky’s hand ran the length of her back, as much as he could reach, even while his metal hand idly rubbed her arm. “Stay here tonight.”
He knew that in the morning they’d separate, and maybe he’d have to fight Barton for her time. Bucky couldn’t be that angry though. It was his fault she’d had the time and the distance to find another partner. Never mind that they move so perfectly together, two soldiers trained for the same dance. But he was willing to share.
They still had the rest of the night, though, and god damn, if he wasn’t going to waste it.
Natasha allowed a smile to touch her face as he agreed they had spent too much time apart. But they were certainly catching up now, his lips touching her hair.
