MY JUNE 2026 ONE
The one maid Fleetway I did from 2023
I think the ribbon for his apron would float freely around him lol
He got that shit on tho
"Hey sparky"
New evil duo unlocked
Imagine when Fleetway Super Sonic (amnesiac arc) finds extra life sonic and brings him in with ebony and pijamas noticed how his effors in wanting to "redenm" extra life doesn't seem to work.
How extra life hates flickys with a passion (Me and @nervouspiratedragon headcanon that the flickys shit on his box and mocked extra with their freedom) and even when super scolds him for It, extra shrugs It off. Super would also notice extra life's anger issues.
In the grovy train, I think extra would like to work on It, It would be a change in his Life to try something new, his relationship with ebony and pijamas would be profesional at BEST and indiferent at worst. If extra life isn't working he would then impersonate Sonic for free chilidogs, admiration and then huff angrily when super sonic whispers him to stop doing that.
What do you think?
You know, I hardly even really thought about the fact Extra existed until you starting rapid firing about him in my inbox 𼚠It's not a bad thing
Super and Extra are definitely a duo I can see taking on the role of a redeemed villain trying to do the same for someone else but struggling to get through to them. I can't think of a good example to compare them to, but I'm sure it's a trope somewhere.
Extra impersonating Sonic for free stuff is funny. And while Super probably isn't particularly comfortable with it, at least it's just to get freebies... it could be a lot worse.
Super might be a lot more permissive in Extras bad behavior than he usually would just because he sees himself in him so much. He'd desperately try to rationalize or explain it when he does something wrong in the groovy train to try and convince Ebony and PJ to let him stay (who are EXTREMELY skeptical but can't bring themselves to say no to him especially since they know what it's like)
It's hilarious to me to imagine something making Extra angry and he's on the verge of crashing out but Super is FIGHTING to hold him back trying to convince him it's not worth it (extra might argue that Super would've obliterated the thing not that long ago and that usually shuts him up)
I like that type of dynamic a lot. I might write something if I ever have good time and a solid idea...
Do you think extra life sonic was planning to kill Sonic on this panel?
Like what would happen if tails woke Up too late? Would extra life kill and then impersonate Sonic? Would he drop him and run away?
Honestly either is plausible. He definitely had zero issue with violence so it's not like that's the issue. The issue is that if he killed Sonic he'd by default be considered to take his place and I'm not sure if he'd want that.
Maybe he would impersonate Sonic for a while but it'd become clear very quickly that people wouldn't just give him things or really have any reason to do so if he acted the way he does, so that might not last long anyway
So ultimately, probably run away. At least that way he has the greatest chances of freedom
What kind of flowers would fit fleetway super sonic and extra life sonic better?
Petunia is Extra life for sure. Mainly because the point is that their looks are deciving, and that's a big thing for Extra life. His deep resentment is obviously in regards to Sonic, and he's just naturally a troublemaker it seems.
Super sonic, I like both the Chaos Rose and Orange Lillie's the most. I guess if I had to pick one probably the lilly because of the two sided nature of the meaning. On one hand he's destructive and angry but also you can consider his change in personality as a rebirth of sorts
Another flower that fits him are Dandelions for the same reasons. They're a bright yellow at the start, very vibrant. But over time they turn white and blow away. They're also considered a weed, not a flower.

What would Fleetway Super Sonic do on this situation to calm extra life down? I'm curious about your thoughs!
Also did you get my answer about surge and extra life?
The OG post is making me cackle because I lowkey forgot Extra Life definitely has daddy issues. He's like if mainline Metal Sonic was a failed son who hated his father đ (New niche brother duo unlocked?)
Hmmmm, I'm assuming you mean the nice one--- Ah, I'm not sure he'd know very well how to calm someone down either way? That was never really his strong suit... He'd kinda flail around a moment trying to decide what to do. Ultimately he tries to hold him back from attacking anybody frantically trying to convince him taking out his rage on innocent bystanders that have nothing to do with his own creator is in fact, not acceptable behavior and ge needs to stop (Debatable if this would ever even work)
And he'd probably suck at finding something comforting to say too--- "If it makes you feel any better... I don't even have a father!...Unless you count... emeralds, I guess?" And Extra just stares daggers at him like "That was terrible also wtf"
Eventually Super realizes he's absolutely botching this and thinks 'Hm what does Ebony usually do for me?' And VERY cautiously tries to hug him which just might shock Extra enough to be effective. He's never received such a level of empathy and attempts to console him before. (To which Super might say sm corny like "Well I'm just passing on the kindness haha")
In conclusion it would take more than one try for Super to get it right due to inexperience--- but he'd... manage, at least? Eventually
... they're kinda growing on me
(Also, no I did not)
Oooh boy didn't you know you can get extra life to work as long as you think of what role you want him to be?
Like he is anti Sonic (scourge before he turned Green) but a clone instead of a evil version of Sonic.
He is a organic metal Sonic before It became a trend.
He is Sonic exe at home
And he is a Lil gremlin with anger issues and daddy issues
Sonic exe at home 𼚠oh he would despise him
I wonder if him and metal would get along or if they'd hate each other? Metal isn't really meant to be a "spare" more so an equal match, but it's simular enough they kinda radiate brother energy to me tbh.
Extra is like the older sibling who gets jealous seeing the younger one get spoiled and have more than he does and picks on as a result, but metal is so soulless he practically ignores him if not smacks him back and returns to whatever he was just doing
can you draw extra life please? only if you want to but your headcanons are đĽş
ououhgh scrimblo from my comics </3
Could I ask Extraway with your new style? It's okey if you don't want to do It.
(Extraway is the ship between extra life sonic and Fleetway Super Sonic)

EXTRAWAY MENTIONED HELLO I'M PRESENT
What if extra life sonic is making Sonic dobout kintobor? When extra life spoke of kintobor locking him Up FOR YEARS (probably didn't even check on him) that's making kintobor look like a neglet parent or someone that hides things that should contrast with how Sonic himself sees kintobor -as a kind man Who wanted to make the world a better place, easy to read as a book-
If I was going to have them argue about anything it would probably be this. They think of him in opposite ways and I think sonic would be shocked and in denial but he probably wouldn't REALLY think he's being lied to because if that wasn't true Extra wouldn't be as messed up as he is so he isn't really sure what to think
Imagine a sonextraway scenario!
Like fleetway super sonic manages to at least make extra life be more docile, then he starts to lose his energy ("dying") which makes extra life sonic begin worried for him because he doesn't want to lose super sonic so he and ebony track the chaos emeralds see chaos and yada yada
(extra life would push Sonic away from super sonic so he has no obstacle in getting his power back)
In the end extra life is left heartbroken, not because of super Sonic's "betrayal" but because he probably won't ever see him again
Lucky for him Sonic does have some interest in him (mostly to know he won't be a bother haha)
"Sonextraway"
I feel like after all is said and done and it's just Sonic and Extra and Sonic is expecting to have to deal with Extra's antics now but the guy is weirdly. Docile-ized since he saw him last? This is rather confusing of course, I mean, there's no way this clone who was out to get him and cause trouble is suddenly "better now", right?
Unfortunately for Sonic, that would be the truth. And even more unfortunately, he's going to have to accept that Super made it happen. After all, how ridiculous was it that Super of all people managed to calm this guy down but Sonic was put into a chokehold basically on sight when they met? He's not gonna like that for sure.
Especially the 'having to acknowledge that Super might have genuinely been a decent guy for a while' part.
(I waited for 3 and a half years. White man did it in one week. /ref)

These are the first panels of Kitchingâs pages for the comic, but this is obviously not the first page of the comic, so letâs get the lay of the land before I dive into this: Sonicâs 900th Adventure was a collaboration between many different creators whoâve worked on the series over the decades. Itâs specific that it counted all of Sonicâs English language adventures to reach the 900th mark, so stuff like the French Sonic Adventures or the various Sonic manga didnât count for this total, but they acknowledge at the start that they were only basing this on the English language comics. For me, those are the ones Iâm most familiar with, so this is hardly a problem The premise of the comic is that while Sonic & Tails are reminiscing together about how many adventures theyâve been on (Tails is the nerd who counts them up to 899, I love the âdonât think too hard about itâ nod to everything being canon lol), the Warp Topaz appears out of thin air, still super-charged from the last time that Sonic used it and ended up in another dimension (and briefly without his memories). For those of you who donât follow IDW Sonic (itâs great by the way, would highly recommend it), the Warp Topaz is a gem that was used for a time by a villain called Dr. Starline - itâs a crystal with the power to warp. The point of this story is that itâs highly unstable and Sonic needs to deal with this by playing a game of hot potato with it across space with various of his friends, before he can put it back where Starline originally found it and hopefully neutralise it
After the introduction with Sonic & Tails, which was written by Ian Flynn, we jump to Sonicâs first zone-hopping location, where he teams up with Amy, for a section of the story written by Evan Stanley. When youâre reading through this comic, each writer is teamed up with different artists, so itâs easy to keep track of whoâs writing what as the art styles hop around a bit
All of this comic is enjoyable and Iâm obviously not diminishing anyone elseâs work on it, but for the sake of this post, Iâm only going to be covering Kitchingâs scene in any sort of detail. There are two reasons for this, the first being that I wanted to cover anything âStC adjacentâ for this blog and that includes other Sonic work that StC writers or artists did. And the second, bigger, reason being that Iâm just not sure if itâd be okay to post a large amount of images for the currently published Sonic comic the way that I do for all these old 90s comics that SEGA doesnât acknowledge any more. No one who worked on StC, Archie Sonic or La Sirène Sonic is getting paid for those comics any more (sadly), but people are getting paid to work on IDW Sonic and I want that to keep being the case. So while Iâm probably splitting hairs here, this is where I draw my line in the sand. My hope is that just including a few images from the five pages of the comic that Kitching wrote will be okay. Because I like this comic and wouldnât want to skip it entirely
All that aside, in the comic itself, when Sonic parts ways with Amy, he meets up with Knuckles, which brings us to Kitchingâs part of the story. The art for this section was provided by Mauro Fonseca for pencils, Rik Mack for inks and Reggie Graham for colours. You can check out this cool and interesting post here from Fonseca talking about how the art team worked to capture the feel of StC for this part of the comic. The post talks about studying Elsonâs art and translating it to modern Sonic, paying attention to how StC was coloured and the sorts of location designs it used, ending with a mention of another StC panel that was recreated as a homage in IDW Sonic and a note about how wonderful Kitching was to work with. I just love to see this level of dedication and respect between art teams and feel that it really shines through here
Anyway, thatâs a lot of talk to get to the events at hand, where we see in the panel at the top of this post that Knuckles has turned up to help Sonic on his quest. Sonic canât hold onto the Warp Topaz for too long without it affecting him, so he needs to pass it to his various friends to get a break from it before moving onto the next location
But Knuckles doesnât make it in time to take the Warp Topaz, seeing Sonic teleport away faster than the SEGA mandates can stop any of those beloved SonKnux flirty rival moments that used to be in Kitchingâs StC stories from happening. Now that would be an entirely different kind of man date. Get it? Man. Date. âŚIâll show myself out
Sonic is instead teleported to a lab, where heâs found by Metal Sonic, who immediately tries to take the Warp Topaz off him. You can see from the heavy dark shading and the vibe of the lab that this is very StC and Fonseca talks about this part specifically in the post Iâve linked aboveÂ
I do wonder if Kitching chose to write about Knuckles and Metal Sonic or if these characters were given to him to work with on the basis of his Metallix stories being one of the better known of his StC work. Indeed, Ian Flynn has mentioned a few times on the Bumblekast in years gone by that Brotherhood of Metallix is his favourite arc in StC (just donât ask me to link it - Iâm a regular Bumblekast listener, but there are hundreds of those eps. I swear he brings it up sometimes)
Metal Sonic grabs the Warp Topaz and Sonic appeals to him to give it back, saying that the risk it poses is bigger than all of them
After a pause for effect, Metal Sonic responds in about the way youâd expect, evoking another glorious StC tradition of Sonic being knocked around
After this, Sonic reveals that heâs only been pretending to be down and out, when the truth is that he knew Metal Sonic was more likely to grab the Warp Topaz if Sonic acted like he didnât want Metal Sonic to have it. This has given Sonic the chance that he needed to recover, so he can now safely handle the Warp Topaz for a little while himself again
But Metal Sonic is no fool and uses the Warp Topaz to, well, warp. Sonic only just manages to get there in time to go along as well
Back to Knuckles! And with the good news that Tails has narrowed down the location that Sonic needs to get the Warp Topaz to as well
Metal Sonic looks pretty beat up now and Sonic just sort of sends him on his way, which is very funny to me. But more importantly, this means that we do get the olâ StC-style SonKnux teasing after all! Iâm so glad that it survived after all these years, like a beacon in the night. Sonic will always tease Knuckles ;A;
Kitchingâs section of the story ends with Tails telling Sonic off for making Knuckles worry and Sonic saying that he will tell Knuckles the truth⌠eventually! His wink at the audience is actually another intentional reference to an StC panel from Elson that Fonseca added. Hereâs the original:
âŚAnd with that comes the end of Kitchingâs most recent contribution to the Sonic franchise. It seems wrong to not give a quick run-down of what happened in the rest of the comic after this. So Iâll add here that after leaving Knuckles, Sonic next gets warped to where Eggman, Orbot and Cubot are waiting in a giant mech that I assume is a homage to the Sonic OVA maybe, which was written by Daniel Barnes. After dealing with them, the next duo that Sonic meets is Blaze & Cream, in a section written by Aaron Hammerstrom. This part makes me so happy, because I love Sonic Rush and Blaze & Cream are one of my favourite duos in the series, even if they donât get teamed up together much any more. The Warp Topaz is getting more unstable at this point and rapidly warps the three of them to many different locations, before Sonic feels like heâs starting to get a handle on it and again moves on. This leads us to Caleb Goellnerâs section of the story, which gives the Babylon Rogues, Rouge and Shadow a look-in. They all unsuccessfully try to take the Warp Topaz off Sonic for keeps, before he evades them and heads on his way
The story ends with another section by Ian Flynn, where Sonic finally finds the cave where the Warp Topaz was taken from and returns it to its rightful home, the exact location of which he discovers due to Starline having left some Eggman fanboy graffiti. Sonic is then able to escape before a cave-in that should prevent the Warp Topaz from falling into the wrong hands again, unless a future story requires it to come back. Now that theyâre in the clear, Sonic asks Tails to thank everyone whoâs helped them today, before cheerfully running off into the night. A closing caption thanks the audience for sticking with them through the various Sonic comics as well. Makes me wonder if weâll get a Sonicâs 1,000th Adventure comic someday?
Anyway, that about wraps it up. The next comic being advertised at the end of this one was IDW Sonic #65. Itâs wild to think that weâre getting closer to IDW Sonic #100 at time of posting!
I think Iâve already said about everything that I wanted to say about this one: I enjoyed the ride and all the contributions made by the massive team to this book and Iâm especially grateful to get to see Kitching & Elson make a comeback, with both of their own styles coming through in both the cover and the writing that they did. Iâd like to think that maybe we could see work from both of them or even other StC creators back in Sonic again in future, but even if not, itâs wonderful that we got to see this much after over two decades without them
Now, even though this is chronologically the last contribution that any StC creators have made to the Sonic franchise, itâs not actually the final comic that Iâll be covering for this blog. There are two more Sonic comics that Kitching made with a direct connection to StC that I havenât covered before now, because they felt like an appropriate way to round out my StC coverage. So join me again next time, when I look at the two stories that Kitching wrote for StC-O, which while released as fan-comics, absolutely stick within the framework of his canon StC stories and feel like direct continuations on his own terms. The first gives Sonic (and the readers) some long-needed closure on Johnnyâs death, while the second is set many years later and shows how Kitching wouldâve ended StC if heâd been able to do that the way he wanted. Also, my favourite ship gets canonised. I mean⌠I guess itâs not technically canonised, since it happened in a fan-comic, but even so, I take my wins where I can get them
Sonic the Hedgehog's 900th Adventure is out, and I got to draw the story written by Sonic the Comic's Nigel Kitching! Me and Rik and Reggie worked together to try and do a nice story that's a heartfelt pastiche of the vibes of Sonic the Comic.
Some thoughts after the cut
Up next on my list to cover for this blog is Sonicâs 900th Adventure, which is an IDW Sonic comic, not a Fleetway publication, but which includes the work of both Richard Elson and Nigel Kitching, seeing them officially come back to the franchise over two decades after StC had ended its run
The 900th Adventure was published in 2023 and it was a pleasant surprise for StC fans (at least it was for me) to see our side of the franchise get acknowledged again, when weâd so often been ignored. Heck, we didnât even get covers in Sonic Mega Collection like Archie Sonic did. It was good to have something, even if my pipedream that Kitching characters like Ebony & Pyjamas mightâve made a cameo didnât come to anything
The above cover was Elsonâs contribution to the series. And while my first reaction was that if felt less edited from the StC style than his art for the Sonic R anniversary did, when looking up about it on the wiki, it turns out that it did receive some friction from SEGA of Japan:
Iâm glad Elson put his foot down about this. Since the cover was to be a homage to the StC era, moving it too far away from this style wouldnât achieve that. So in the end, only Tails was changed. Hereâs the available drafts for anyone who wants to compare:
While Tailsâs expression does change a few times across the versions (I honestly think the one on the pencil draft looks best), Iâm not seeing a particularly massive revision for him, so Iâm not sure if there was perhaps an earlier draft that isnât on the wiki, but this is what weâve got to go on. Iâm grateful that we do have so many of Elsonâs drafts, since there arenât as many for all of the other covers and we donât get to see Elsonâs work so frequently these days
But the biggest shame about this cover is its lack of availability in the UK, where it wouldâve met its target audience. The âRIâ on the top left of the cover stands for âRetailer Incentiveâ and Elsonâs cover was RI:25. Which means that retailers would have to buy 25 copies of the comic to receive one copy of this cover. And this one isnât even the worst offender - to get Jon Grayâs cover, retailers would need to buy 50 copies of the comic, since his cover was RI:50
This meant that Elsonâs cover was hard to come by when the comic first came out and unless British comic shops importing them were aware of it being a specific design for Sonic fans in the UK or were in an area with particularly high demand, they were unlikely to receive any. Itâs a shame, because given that we have comic shop chains like Travelling Man and Forbidden Planet in the UK, a better option to get these covers to their target audience wouldâve been to instead make it a âRetailer Exclusiveâ cover for either or both of those store chains, which would mean that people would have to go to those stores to get this specific cover and, because the stores were aware of this, they wouldâve promoted it more to British fans. There were other Retailer Exclusive covers for the 900th Adventure, so itâs not as if this option wouldâve been impossible. There was a missed opportunity here, but itâs in the past now, so I digress (As a sidenote, as a long-time StC fan from the UK, I do have this cover, but only found it last year, from an eBay seller based in America for a marked-up price. Which further proves my point)
The bottom line is that Iâm still glad that Elson was brought back to the series and that his finished piece still had the same StC energy that he was known for. I do hope that the door has been left open that both Elson and Kitching could come back to work on future specials, because I really would love to see it
