I'm writing this about the end scene of the film Tree Girl, specifically at the time stamp of seven minuets and forty-five seconds where the song changes again, I realized I haven't actually written about the song but that will come in time, But when this part of music comes in things shift again. It shifts to this feeling of confusion, I wish we knew what Angel and Alice where talking about before Alice disappears, because in this scene she act as if she's spacing about right before she goes, like she's looking at something we cant see, or as if she is feeling something that we don't know. I also feel like Angel could have known something about Alices disappearance. She doesn't seem as startled or confused as someone who just saw someone disappear out of thin air, or maybe, maybe this has happened before? But going back to what I was saying before, Angel seems almost as if she's sad or angry like she almost saw it coming but didn't realized it was coming so soon. Angel doesn't get up to look for Alice, she sits there, looking around holding her hand out, almost as if she thinks Alice can grab her. But quickly after doing that Angel starts to grab a hold onto herself as if it was almost her fault maybe, it's a strong and angry hold. Or a sad and lonely one….
during these few seconds of the film, lyrics can be heard,
"With you I felt love
With you I felt pain
With you I was me
And a bit of you too
Inhaling and being inhaled
In an all or nothing situation"
I have a feeling these lyrics hold a grate meaning to Angel and Alice. This section of the song is played right before and after Alice disappears, and I feel it's a symbolism of who they are. To symbolize how they feel and who they are together, as one.
Alice disappears after the lines "With you I felt Love, With you I felt pain" I feel these line connect back to them, to tell us how they are. When Angel and Alice first meet, five minuets and forty-three seconds in, it seems as though Alice is trying to get Angel to follow her almost as if Angel doesn't trust her like Alice has done something before? Or maybe I think Alice has disappeared once before, I think Alice is trying to tell Angel its her, she is real, and she is there with her.
But We don't actually know if they've meet before, or even if they know each other, But i believe they do. They both seem to friendly with each other like they've meet before, like there friends, or best friends who had a fallowing out with. They talk to each other a bit to calmly to be strangers and a bit to strangely to be friends. Witch would make sense to why Alice had to convince Angel to follow her almost half way into the film to have tea together. With my theory of Angel and Alice knowing each other it makes sense why Angel had such a strong reaction to Alice disappearing because After Alice disappears, Angel starts to freak out, reaching for where Alice was, and then the next clip is her standing then she faints.
"With you I was me
And a bit of you too
Inhaling and being inhaled
In an all or nothing situation
If I tried to say no
My heart said yes
If I tried to disguise it in my voice"
This is symbolizing how similar Angel and Alice are to each other, how they are basically one. "With you I was me, and a bit of you to" Telling us more about them as one. The only thing that sets Angel and Alice apart is there color schemes of pink and blue, you'd think that Angel's is pink and Alice's is blue but I was informed awhile ago that there swapped. Witch brings me back to the idea that they are one, it's been formed for awhile because there like a sliver of the same person torn apart to create two people. with there deep connection with each other in such short time helps with that idea.
"With you I was me, and a bit of you to" while this part is heard you can see Angel start to break down, witch is a fear of separation that I think both Angel and Alice share. Angel can be seen holding out for Alice for her to grab a hold onto her, but Alice is gone. Angel soon realizes that herself so she grabs a hold onto herself instead. Then she lets go to. She gets sucked into something that doesn't necessarily take her away like Alice but it does take a hold onto her mind, And she is to now stuck.
"Inhaling and being inhaled
In an all or nothing situation
"If I tried to say no
My heart said yes
If I tried to disguise it in my voice"
This part of the music covers the feelings Angel were feeling, accepting no less than everything. Then everything is gone, Alice disappears, Angel faints, and we don't know if she's okay. The next part of the film is what I assume, is Alice, the reason I believe that is because the color on the strap of the dress changes to blue to symbolize the character switch
"My eyes gave me away
And so we became one
In a mad love that saw no limits
Hard to let our love go
To let it go
Hard to let our love go
To let it go
The fear of separation
Became an obsession
Jealousy and jealous scenes
Until the castle tumbled down
And now our love has turned into smoke
That we can smell but not touch
A fire that became a flame
That will never go out
Hard to let our love go
To let it go
Hard to let our love go"
This part of the film is supposed to resemble the first three minuets and three seconds of the film but, it's different. There's a whole different character in the seat sitting there. Alice. Alice is way more out of it, she is completely different from when Angel was in her position at the beginning. Alice is drowsy like she's been drugged, her head sways from side to side. At first I assumed this was Alice's first time teleporting but I think it might be her second. If we look back to when Angel and how she reacted to transporting the first time it was pretty smooth, she was able to get up and walk around after being transported but the second time the rainbow appears for Angel she faints, and I assume that means someone is being transported somewhere and it matches up to Alices position right now. So I believe this is the effect of the rainbow. At some a point latter on till the end of the fil I assume, Alice try's to go back to Angel, by sticking her full head into the tea-cup. But I can also see this as a symbolism of suicide, she is willing to drown herself to see Angel again. That she's willing to give up everything for Angel. Maybe just to see her one more time.
