So, we’ve been lazy.  Really lazy.  

We lost our username and password to tumblr.  We also forgot who created the account.  Our blog was lost in limbo on the interwebs, and it looked like it was the end. Our login information was hidden in our email archives for over a year, and each time we went to look for it we got distracted.  (Okay I’m just talking about myself).

The good news is, our own DCPUDDY has evolved and now has his own fashion instagram. He’s grown from the worn out ratty game t-shirt wearing geek to a button bearing whiskey drinking dappery gentleman. I’m just adding words here.

As for the rest of us, we admit we’re lazy.  We admit we don’t have discipline.  We admit we like dumping our laundry out on our bedroom floors on Sundays and just picking random pieces to wear every morning and hope that it matches.  And if it doesn’t.... well, at least we smell good. Well, at least I do.

Sorry Tony, the fashion God, we have disappointed you... but please, take Puddy.

Cosplay compromise

If I could, I would cosplay everyday to work.   I looooooove my cosplay.  I also have a collection of Chinese dresses, ranging from the Han Dynasty to Ching. I collect them and get them hand tailored when I'm back on the motherland. However!  As much as I'd like to wear them everyday, they're so heavy and long that 1) It will get dirty 2) It's always hot were we are and 3) I can't go to the bathroom without bunching everything up over my head.

Yeah. Hassle.

Anyhoo, I was so happy that Zara had an "Asian" collection this Spring/Summer. What what!  I spent almost $500 dollars and Damien had to tell me to stop.  That's what friends are for. Making sure you can still afford food and shelter.  Thanks Damien! (I think he just wants to avoid me crashing on his couch for a few months, that selfish bastard).

By the way, this Kimono (I can't tell if it's Chinese or Japanese inspired, I don't think Zara knows the difference sometimes. Alllooksame.com) inspired me to be #yankee about it.  It's a style in Japan, I've always liked it, as ghetto as it was.  All I need is a bat or some sort of weapon, a pair of getas, spike up my hair and then squat around at the bottom of some stairs with a cigarette hanging out of my mouth. 

Trust me, it makes sense.

The blazer, it's a glorious thing really.

Paired with some dark denim jeans, a simple v-neck tee, and some casual lace up's, it really dresses up your whole outfit (I still haven't figured out if men wear outfits yet or if that's a strictly female thing). Truthfully, I still have no idea what I'm doing here.

Grey and white dominate my second official Tony Tuesday. To add a splash of color, I hurled the sun closer to the sea and carved out a tranquil bay in which to take my photo. An inflated sense of self is apparently a side effect of looking more fashionable.

When your parents tell you that you look like a hobo, it's time to come out of the cave and put a little more effort into it.  So, here you go.

I suppose one of the reasons why I stopped wearing nicer clothes is because I signed up for a bunch of Wushu classes 3x a week.  Taking time in the morning to do your hair and makeup, then walking around in heels all day just makes it that much more of a hassle to change and sweat for an hour at a gym.  Especially when your hair is pinned and curled.

Anyway, protip. Dresses are a good cheat.  One piece, done.  Great excuse for me to buy more.  Now quit calling me a hobo for a week.  That's how long the fashion buff lasts for.

My first Tony Tuesday was a little underwhelming compared to how much the rest of the crew “brought it” so to speak. That said, I was incredibly proud of my ability to roll up my sleeves over my sweater - a look that was inspired by a 4-year old thumbnail picture of Kanye West on www.fashionBeans.com.

I found out how to un-slob myself outfit with one simple accessory this week.

Wear a hat.

Except I don't really know if a hat is considered an accessory or not.  But I felt like I somewhat cheated my slobbing either way. Sweet!

I'm going to keep the caption for last week's Fashion Friday to a minimum. Mostly because I'm ashamed. Ashamed because the night before while looking through my closet I had a moment where I wanted to throw everything out because it was terrible. Now I know how my wife feels when she's going through her clothes, except I'm... you know... a guy. Please excuse me now while I go watch Nascar and have a beer to regain my manhood in an attempt to forget that night. 

On a related note, linen jackets when it's warm out are amazing. Just embrace the wrinkles.

Confessions of a lazy slob

After my Nine West heels crapped out on me, I went through my box of shoes (yes, I have a box of nice shoes) and pulled out my old Diesel pumps. It was like looking into Albus Dumbledore's Pensieve; I found all kinds of magical things in there that reminded me of the old days when I used to work in Advertising and clothing mattered. 

Since I've followed my heart and switched into software development years and years ago, I've resorted to t-shirts with mushrooms on them (green ones, because it means you got a 1UP, and you always needs those), questionable pants that resembled pajamas, and ballet flats to work.

I left advertising because insecure clients stuck on brand status gets old after a few years, and I got tired spending thousands on client brands to show we cared about their products (overpriced, made in China!). However, in the software industry I was happily surrounded by geeks and slowlllllyyyy got comfortable and conformed to the typical uniform of shirts with words on them and slippers.  

To be honest, if it wasn't because we were inspired by http://www.shittonywears.com I'd still be rolling out of bed straight to work. Ok I would change but the clothes would look the same, all right?

My personal goal is to un-slob myself and make good use of all the money I spent on these clothes. Find them, dust off the cobwebs on them, and start brushing my hair again. Yeah, sometimes I just let it air dry. So what? Don't judge.

Ok, first legitimate post after dressing up for today with my fellow Flip Flop Fighters (most posts from them to come). 

Let me start by saying that the night before while I was trying to get my clothes ready was both fun and terrifying. Mostly because I have no idea what the hell I'm doing here. After staring at the little section of recently purchased clothes in my closet, I pulled a handful of random things out that I was sure wouldn't work together and started trying them on. Ten minutes later, "holy shit, maybe this will work..." and Tuesday's outfit (do men wear "outfits"?) clothes were picked out, for better or worse. On a related note, I don't care what anyone say's, my new Aldo's are amazing. Who knew brown and navy denim would work on a shoe? I sure as hell didn't.

I guess to be fair, they may not actually work, what do I know.

Fast forward to this morning walking into the office. I don't think I've ever been asked if I was going on an interview more times in one day, than I was today. There may or may not have been some sarcasm in one or two of those comments, but I'm taking them all as compliments because frankly my fashion related confidence is way too fragile at this point. 

All in all, I feel like today was a success as far as trying to fancy up our office goes and I can't help but feel that Tony would be proud. If for no other reason than for the effort. Which reminds me, I need to get started on setting up a LAN party in New York.

J here- 

  In most of my pictures, I’ll be wearing ballet flats.  Working in the software industry means you either wear flip flops or flats, or sometimes, no shoes at all. (It’s true, people do that, even into the bathrooms).  Now that I’m a flip flop fighter, I made an attempt this morning to trade in my comfy shoes for some heels. Simple right? Right…?  

  Nope. While I was walking to the office, the bottom piece of the heel got caught in-between a tile and a rug and popped out, so I ended up walking around just on the screw (for those of you who have never worn heels, there is in fact a screw in the heel). So for the remainder of the day I was like a circus clown walking around on stilts, except one of the stilts is a foot shorter.  I went back and found the piece and stuck it back on, but for the rest of the afternoon I had to drag my right foot around because if I lifted it too high the piece would come out.  And because I had to drag my foot, my heel would occasionally pop off while I was walking down the hallway and I’d have to go back and get my shoe.  Well, THANKS for the support Fashion Gods! Obviously you hate my shoes!!  What do I have to do to appease you?!  Fashion Gods: 1  J: 0
