It may have not been Eleanor’s first New York Fashion Week but because this was her first one after her divorce, she was so nervous that it felt like it was her first time. Unfortunately, no amount of preparation, coffee or even sleep can change that. She was going through her list of the things that she needed one more time and was so focused on figuring out what it was that she forgot (there wasn’t any) that she did not realize that she was spacing out. “I’m sorry, what was that?”, she asked once she snapped out of her trance. ( @codstarters )
“Ellie!” Flossie let out a loud laugh. “You’re here? I was not expectin’ you, weren’t you in Milan a few weeks ago?” She ran up to the blonde as she pulled her into an embrace. “Gosh, I bet you’re so busy and can’t deal with me right now--but oh my god, I am so happy for you to be here right now. Margeritas all round!” Flossie said in glee. “Okay, maybe not now because you’re working, but I can just sit here and watch your pretty face”

Having no idea what he ultimately wanted to say, he struggled to find some words. What did he need a few minutes for? What could he possibly say to make anything better? He brought a hand up to rub his face before sighing. Although he already knew how she must be feeling to have to see him again, her words stung. His life definitely had gone downhill since he messed things up, as much as he tried to put up a front. He was truly his happiest when he was with her so why mess it up? Was that really true happiness? A relationship in which he hid his life from her? He shrugged his shoulders, “I just want to talk. I know I don’t deserve any more of your time. I wasted enough of it for you, but I just want to explain everything. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you, and thinking about how differently things could have gone if I would have been completely honest with you from the start. And now you’re here, of all places. That’s got to mean something right?” His gaze was on the ground by the time he finished speaking, afraid of what her face would do to him. What the upset look he had already seen would make him feel. He slowly looked back up at her, hoping she was at least considering what he was asking of her but knowing he deserved nothing but her walking out of his life this time around.
Florence wasn’t an aggressive person, she wasn’t a nasty person. But when it came to Sam, she couldn’t really control her thinking. The confusion of her affection to him, to a sudden betrayal was hard for Flossie to get her head around. When she had time to reflect on their relationship--she hadn’t known much about his history and she had no idea why she didn’t put two and two together regarding his accent and her going to New York to escape the torture she had been putting herself through back in London. She let him talk---Keeping her head down. But every time he spoke, her heart battered against her chest and she tried to inhale even though it was hard to breathe at this exact moment. “I--I don’t know what it means.” She muttered, annoyed at herself that she also believed that in some weird, fucked up way. She let out a sigh as she looked up trying to hold in whatever she had inside of her. “So where do you want to talk to Sam? huh?” She spat out raising her eyebrows. “Because, apparently you must live here which is news to me”

He never did know when he was pushing boundaries and approaching her the way he did, as if his acts could have been easily forgotten by now, was way too far. His gaze never leaving her, admiring the familiar features, those same ones he used to hold so close to his own. He took a step forward as she took one back, unable to stop himself. It was as if the whiskey was in control and his mind and body wanted to go back to a place he was happy in. Alas, he did what he was best at, and screwed that up too. “Please, just give me a minute. I have so many questions,” he pleaded, as if she was the one that owed him anything. He wasn’t sure why he wanted to ask anything at all, she owed him nothing. Maybe it was just an excuse to gaze at her longer. As he was about to speak once more, she was up and gone. He contemplated his next move. Did he follow? Did he forget it? Of all places in the world she could have ended up, she was there, in New York and in that exact same bar. That had to mean something. Without giving it a moment longer, he hurried behind her, his head spinning from all things at once. He sighed as he pushed passed the door to exit, some relief taking over to see she was still there. “Wait– please. Don’t leave. I just ask for a few minutes,” he pleaded once more, hoping for a better reaction from her but expecting the worst.
Flossie scoffed at his question, she couldn’t think of anything worse being in the same proximity at him, not even in the same room as him. She shook her head, pushing her small body past him, knocking his shoulder slightly and hurried outside the door. Fighting back the tears from her eyes, she wiped them quickly, aggressively. Anger spouted from her veins, as she quickly got out her phone to call Millie, Cece, Fin--Anyone that would pick up. Her breathing started to pick up, and she began to feel her breath was shorter. Her cheeks felt hot---Over hearing his plead, she turned back around. “---What the fuck do you want?” She spat out--it a little aggressive for Florence, so she gulped harshly wiping her brow. “---I--I...I don’t want to talk to you Sam, I don’t want to see you----I didn’t want to ever see you ag-” She stopped, because even how angry, frustrated and upset she felt. She would always feel a deep love for Samuel, she had loved him once. “What do you want?” She spoke a little softer as she exhaled. She found it so bizarre that she had saw him, after all these years -- she actually never thought she’d see him again. Studying his demeanor, he looked as handsome as ever, but he swayed lightly indicating he had been drinking. “I-Just...I---It’s been a long time.” It came out of nowhere, but a little whine of sadness came out of her voice as it trembled and she quickly looked away to avoid his gaze.

Flossie had only met Aubrey briefly a few times through Finley, once when they were younger briefly and then spent some more time with them in Glastonbury last year. She kind of knew why she had been invited and could see Finley’s doting eyes on the brunette. Flossie then did see this as her personal achievement to see what she was up too in their ‘friendship’ of some sorts. However Flossie decided to try and embark on a friendship with the artist and see what happened. They had seem to get along in Glastonbury last year, why not now? She went to the address of the studio, and opened the door “Aubs?” She muttered as she looked out for her. “It’s Flossie! Florence---Flossie Hawkins?” She shook her head in a laugh.

“Well, we’re not going to think about that now.” She told her while moving her hand up and down the other female’s back. “Right now, we are madly in love and I could just make out with you on the bar… I’m sure nobody would even blink an eye at that,” she joked, letting out a laugh and placing her empty flute down on the bar. “Who needs a gross man?” She asked with a scrunched nose. “It was my grandmothers. My mom gave it to me when she passed.”
“I mean...You can?” She raised an eyebrow. “You are a very good kisser-” She shrugged her shoulders softly. “Men are so gross. I despise all men!” She said the effervescent bubbles making her tongue looser. “...It’s stunning--I will honestly give it you back.” She whispered softly. “But it’s nice to pretend isn’t it?!”

“Love.” Millie rolled her eyes at that answer. If love was the answer to have babies were made, then the OB would probably start questioning her very existence. After all, it was no secret that her parents did not love each other. Before she could even wallow in her own self-pity though, her eyes grew wide at Flossie’s words. “Florence, no!” She shook her head, bringing her hands to her chest as she looked over at her best friend in surprise. “Good God, as much as that sounds exactly like something I would say…” Boy, Flossie did know her well. “I didn’t say that to a five year old.” She laughed softly before shaking her head. “I told her that I’ll tell her when she’s older, and I think she took that well. You know, it’s only a matter of time before I’m going to get that phone call to give her the talk. I guess I’ll just hold onto the proper answer to her question until then.”
“It really is. I thought you would had got the diagrams out you did for me, and literally sat her down and told her everything--But I guess I was twenty four..and she was...five..-” She let out a loud cackle shaking her head. “I mean, yeah--You will get the call. Like you sat me down and told me, and even updated my mother on some of the amazements of it.” She smiled softly. “But, yes---Love is the reason why you should have sex Mama Hawkins told me--Which again, is wrong on so many levels. But also, quite romantic? God, I don’t know.” She sighed softly. “I wish I was that innocent sometimes..I mean, a complete new world ahead of her. But yes, I agree very young--” She vented. “...You will get the diagrams out though won’t you?” She teased.

𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐉𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐔𝐒 of Flossie’s. Spilling freely from his lips as he lulled his head back. “Hold on, that’s not a half bad idea.” Finley narrowed his eyes as he mulled over this thought. Granted, it would probably end in one or all of them getting eviction notices. He and Charlie were loud enough, throw Flossie into that mix and you’d hear them all the way from the West Village. Still, Finley grinned widely. “The ol’ gang back together again.” A scoff weakened the male’s smug smirk but only just. “Oh, lay it on a bit thicker would you?” Finley rolled his eyes at the melodramatics but he tucked Flossie affectionately beneath his arm nonetheless as they strolled towards the dive bar. “You know you’re still my favourite person, yeah?” This was true but Finley’s nose wrinkled up playfully as he said it. His hip bumping against hers. “Nothing wrong with baked beans, mate. Sir Bert on the other hand… That boy deserves a full roast… And doesn’t he know it.” Finley chortled at the thought of the tiny prideful dog, whom he loved as dearly as he would a nephew. “Fine. Better make it a cocktail round though. I’m feeling fruity.” Shimmying his shoulders as though to highlight just that, he guided them into the venue and straight towards the bar. “Do you think they’d do ‘em with those fancy umbrellas and the like?”
“Exactly! But to be honest---Charlie and I would probably kick you out, because we are way more fun and better housemates than you. You’re awful.” She joked but kind of half-joking, only having to live with Finley a handful of times during their friendship and kind of wanted it to stay that way. She lay her head on his shoulder softly, smiling lightly “---I better fucking be. If anyone ever replaces me, I will kick down your door and annoy you when you have the worst hangover of your life.” She threatened playfully. “But you’re mine too. Always.” She muttered, always kind of having to repay the compliment because he was, always. She pushed him into the bar, rolling her eyes “Get in there you pleb!” She laughed loudly. “They better do cocktails, and it better be a bloody pina colada, cause I feel like singin’ club tropicana all night” She winked as she slid into a booth with him and opened the menu. “You do know, I am on a wild one tonight. Like a wild Flossie will emerge tonight and I don’t think she’ll be able to come back in again”

Ellie let out a laugh at her comment about her own dog, Ellie bent down now to pick up Rocco. He was a sucker for other dogs. He always thought that everyone wanted to play with him. She was nervous for the time that they ran into another dog who wasn’t friendly towards others… hopefully that wouldn’t happen, but she did know that they were out there. “Bertie is adorable, though.” She said softly, reaching her hand out for Bertie to sniff her hand. “He’s a pain in the butt,” she said jokingly.
“Bertie is an absolute melt--He will bow down to anyone or anything. So pretty sure he’ll be submissive to your little one here.” Bertie let the woman stroke her, he was a sociable dog but considerably smaller. “He’s gorgeous.” She stroked the corgi enthusiastically. “I mean, dogs need to have other dogs--it’s like people need people!” She pointed out. “Do not worry cause Bertie needs a lot more social time with dogs, alot of the time he’s just stuck with humans.”

“Will I sound too old if I say I still prefer Madonna?” He asked with a playful laugh. Jude rarely had the time to actually sit and enjoy music at the bar, there were a million things to do when they were up and running. But, whenever he got the chance, he definitely had a preference for some oldies. “I’m afraid it’s a little too late for that, you’re already grown. You do have the biggest heart of any adult I know, though.” He flashed her a smile and munched down on his baked good. “It wasn’t,” he started with his mouth full but quickly swallowed “It wasn’t a fiasco. Things just didn’t work out. At least you didn’t spend any money on a big wedding or went on a reality show.” He cringed at the memories of his own failed marriage. “Bar owner. And why would they care how fantastic my sister is? That’d attract some creeps…” He finished his breakfast and stood up, reaching for a garbage bag and handing another one to his sister. “If you’re sticking around, make yourself useful.’
“No, that is an amazing opinion--and of course I still prefer Madonna. It’s Madonna!!” She laughed furrowing her eyebrows. “I mean, Mum did play Like a virgin and Vogue to us when I literally could talk, so she’d be very disappointed if we didn’t praise her like our actual queen.” She pointed out knowing sometimes that their subject of their mother could be a little sensitive. “--I am not---” She crossed her arms “I am thirty--Which is technically the new twenty, let’s not say I am grown please!” She smiled childishly as she winked. “I know, and you have it too but you’re too shy to show it.” She hit back. “...But, that’s made you who you are? And also, you were plannin’ on spending your life with him so...-” She trailed off, putting her tongue in a cheek. “I don’t think it’s a failure. And don’t think it should stop you if you did want to date someone else.” She grabbed the garbage bag as she picked up some of the rubbish. “Well, just say bar owner, 40, BRITISH. Just be yourself?!”
