Sorry it’s been a while! I’ve been traveling a lot, moving around, being depressed lol. But I’m trying to get back into a rhythm of sorts!
I finally went through all your responses (least I think I got everyone’s!) on if and how you want a sequel. The general consensus I saw was yes, a sequel is wanted! Most people said they either wanted another chat story or didn’t care what form it took.
So, that being said, I’ve decided to make the sequel in chat story form! I hope that’s cool with all of you! If any of you really want to see it in fanfic form, I could see if I could write a version of it for AO3 (maybe after it’s finished).
Otherwise, for now, we’ll have the sequel in chat form! At the moment, I plan on posting it to this blog, just to keep everything in one place! I’ve got another big writing project going on at the moment, so I’m not quite sure when I will start the sequel. But, it should be sometime within the next couple weeks, if not sooner! I’ll keep y’all posted!
Thank you so much for reading! It means so much to me that y’all enjoyed this story so much! This started out as just a fun experiment, and it turned into something much bigger! I’m glad I decided to share this, and I’m glad you all liked it as much as I did!
Thank you for all your comments and reblogs and likes as well! I love hearing people’s thoughts on my work; I love interacting with my readers 💚
So where does that leave us? Well, thos blog will stay up for future readers or anyone who wants to reread haha. As for a sequel, I am definitely still down for doing it! Keeping telling me if you’re interested and if so, in what form!
Hey guys! This update is also a behind the scenes one. Sorry if this is kinds lame, but I find it amusing so I’m going to post it haha.
I don’t know if anyone’s noticed, but Tord and Edd’s phone batteries are very distinctive.
Tord’s never goes above 50%. This is because he’s a fucking idiot. He never fully charges his phone because he’s impatient. By nighttime, his phone is always below 20%. His phone is guaranteed to die at least once a day. He’s just very stupid.
Edd is the exact opposite. His almost never goes below 50%. He diligantly charges his phone. He lets it charge all night, every night. He also usually uses his laptop or tablet over his phone, so he naturally uses less battery.
Once again, Tom and Matt don’t think much about their phone usage. They just charge it when battery gets low. You know, like normal people.
Hello everyone! Today (at the request of the lovely @four-legged-song), I’m going to talk about what happened the night of the “sleepovers.” Aka, when Matt stayed with Tord and Tom accidentally fell asleep in Edd’s room. This one’s gonna be a bit long, so I’ll put it under the cut.
I’ll start by making something clear. Matt has been helping Tord a lot, because he’s his friend and he does care about him. However, he’s like Edd: he’s not picking sides. He knows that what Tord did was wrong, but he knows Tom has some fault in things too. So, when he stays with Tord, he’s not there to comfort him or to reassure him of his innocence. They both know he fucked up. He’s there to help more on a physical level, aka making sure Tord doesn’t choke to death/suffocate or try to commit suicide.
The two actually don’t discuss the issue that night. Matt makes Tord some tea and makes sure he eats a bit (he feeds him soup, because he know liquids are the only thing that can get past the flowers at this point). He has to cut flowers out of his throat a couple times, which breaks his heart. At one point, he sneaks off to the bathroom and cries a bit. They put horror movies on to distract themselves. By about 4 am, Tord falls asleep. Matt doesn’t sleep at all that night, afraid Tord might die in his sleep. Tord falls asleep with his head on Matt’s chest, but Matt doesn’t think about it too much. He knows Tord just needs some love and affection rn. Matt spends the whole night thinking of how to solve this mess, which is why he messages Edd before doing anything else that morning.
Meanwhile, Tom is in Edd’s room. He goes over just as to find some distraction. They chat about mundane things: movies, Tom’s next gig, Edd’s latest commission, etc. But the tension of the drama is in the air. At one point, they’re laying side-by-side, and Edd’s talking about how incredible the action sequences were in “Black Panther,” when he turns over and sees Tom’s fast asleep.
After his text to Matt, he slips out of his daily clothes and into his boxers. He settles himself and Tom very gently under the blankets. He can’t help but stare at Tom a little, thinking how cute it is that he is so calm and peaceful when he sleeps. But eventually he falls asleep, too. And wakes up to Tom staring at him, just like he’d been doing hours ago. And you know what happens next ;)
I hope y’all enjoyed that little extra insight into things! I always have some of these scenes completely thought out in my head, but since it’s a chat story, those irl details never get relayed. This was fun though!
Hey y’all! Welcome back! Today I’m going to give you some insight into how I wrote the secondary romance in this story.
For those who don’t know, I’ve written EW fanfiction before. Namely, EddTom and EddTord. Personally, I like TomTord, especially if it’s written really well. But I myself never knew how to write it.
I knew I didn’t want this to be a cut and dry story. I wanted complications and messy things. So when I decided to have Tord help Tom, I knew I needed to give him a good reason for helping.
There weren’t many reasons in my mind to explain his behavior. He and Tom were not friends yet. Tom wasn’t going to strike up some sort of deal with him in exchane for his help. Tord, to me, needed intrinsic motivation. And, without a previous friendship, what made most sense to me was romantic feelings.
Which may seem confusing. They weren’t friends, so why would romance be there? I knew I needed justification for this. Which is why I created the high school narrative.
Neither one of them hated each other. Tord was a foreign kid who was bad at communication turned into a smug teen in a bad attempt at feigning self-confidence. Tom was a shy kid who couldn’t handle the awkwardness of not smoothless communication. Then he got jealous as he watched Tord act so confident and attract the eyes and love of everyone around them. It was all just a mix-up of emotions.
I think there is a case to make for enemies to friends to lovers stories. I personally enjoy those. But that wasn’t the story I felt fit this overall narrative. They needed to be agreeable enough with each other to work together, but not really comfortable yet. And so I settled on the “we didn’t really hate each other and we can actually be friends if we tried” story.
And that’s how Tord came to like Tom! From the author’s perspective at least haha! Tord obviously has his own narrative, but that can be explored later.
I hope you enjoyed that little tale. See you tomorrow!
Hello friends! Today’s behind the scenes is a post about the phone settings the group use. Well, Edd and Tord really.
So, Edd usually has the “screen rotate lock” on. That’s because he does a lot of reading and occassionally drawing on his phone. He also doesn’t sit still for very long. I think he fidgets a lot and constantly changes seating positions. He get’s annoyed at the constantly rotating screen when he moves, so he disables that feature.
Tord always has “do not disturb” on. That’s mostly for when he’s at work, as he doesn’t like distractions. He frequently forgot to turn it off when he went home. After a while though, he realized he prefered not being disrupted in general, so he left it on full time. He checks his phone regularly though (and never closes it when texting Tom), so he doesn’t miss anything important.
He also usually has an alarm on at night so that he gets up for work in the morning. It doesn’t always work, though.
Lastly, he usually has bluetooth on. That’s also for work purposes. Again, he kinda forgets it’s on, so it just stays on constantly.
Matt and Tom don’t really use settings usually. Neither thinks very hard about their phone usage.
Hope you enjoyed this little tidbit! See you tomorrow for another! Again, let me know if there’s anything specific you want to see!
