Contrast is evident in this pic. Spring? Awakening? Renewal? Light? Or, Winter? Hibernation? Restoration? Dark? . Contrasting seasons collide on this day in Colorado. Mother Earth shows us how. The parallels to life itself are not lost on me today. The juxtaposition of new growth (spring) covered by snow (winter). . Go deeper. Tune into the news for just a minute to see epic contrast at play everywhere - all levels of society. Good and evil. Light and dark. Truth and lies. . What/where is the moral compass in our society, with individuals, organizations, political structures - domestic and global? What/where is the moral compass of humanity as a species? Truth, empathy, compassion, love? Lies, survival of the fittest, the self above all other? . Heady thoughts for a quiet day looking out my window witnessing contrasting seasons, being mindful that contrast surrounds us. Through it all, is there time when contrast peacefully co-exists? Do we challenge contrast? Do we stand up against evil keeping our eyes on the light for good to prevail? . No answers here. Contemplation is the inference. Personally, I’m reflecting on profound contrast presented to me to date in 2019. Navigating life, riding the wave, trusting sun shines above the clouds. . See the open spaces (cracks, gaps) between pieces of flagstone? See how today’s spring storm blanketed them with snow creating an interesting mosaic? . In Colorado, spring showers = snow showers. We’re not typically happy about snow this time of year — not as excited as the beginning of snow season. It is what it is, right? . The analogy to life is not lost on me here. How open spaces (perceived cracks, gaps) allow space for the unknown, unexpected, unwanted fall in place. When this happens, step back and mindfully witness the beauty that organically appears. .
