Laura Reeves Workshop @ The Arnolfini || 28/01/2015
On Wednesday I went to a workshop led by Swansea based artist Laura Reeves.
Laura digs, searches and explores. Uncovering the artistic potential found within her family history, or buried in old photo albums and tapes, Laura becomes the narrator. We are guided through stories, as the past becomes the present and fiction blurs with everyday occurrences. In this workshop Laura will discuss how she discovered her own subject matter, helping the group find what they are most interested in.

As part of the workshop we created lists of things that we love, working from the letters A-Z, and then used Google to search for images of the words we had chosen.
We then responded to the images we had collected by creating a piece of writing using the images as a starting point.
Below is my list of thing that I love:
A – Apple mac / Art
B – Bed / Black
C – Coffee / camping / courgette
D – Daydreaming / DragQueens / Denim
E – Erasure / Earl Grey
F – Films
G – Going on an adventure /Gossip Girl
H – Home / Hallhuber
I – Ice cream
J – Juice (orange)
K – Ketchup / knitwear / knitting
L – Lygia Clark / Lena Dunham
M – Mint green
N – Nose ring / netflix
O - Onion
P – Pretty in Pink / Pink
Q - Quorn
R – Roll neck sweaters
S - Sewing
T – Travelling / Things organised neatly
U – Umbrella weather
V – Video Games
W – Walking / Walking boots
X – XX (The)
Y - YOLO
Z – Zachary Quinto*
*Disclaimer: I don't actually love Zachary Quinto, but he was the first person that came to mind
I found it really strange, when searching for images on Google, that I would occasionally feel a really strong connection to an image of something that I love, even if I had never seen the image before.
