Alphonse doesn’t need to sit down, and I also realised that at first I was like “oh that’s a nice big chair,” but that was really only in relation to Ed lmao. i really wish arakawa had like, done more with the chairs in the mine chapter tbh, because when you read the chapter (really the first few chapters) there are themes there that don’t really super get explored in later chapters?? like, sure, there are the ishvalan slums, but those are more based on like, race, and you don’t really get that overt of a class struggle, of the working class having their labour exploited, as the manga goes on. the only place where something like this pops up would be the light novel with the tringhams, but 1. that’s a light novel so no illustrations, and 2. the episode in fma03 isn’t in the manga, so it doesn’t have fma manga chairs in it. the medium of chairs would have been a great manner to also draw a divide between lieutenant yoki and the workers that he exploits for labour.

Oh!!! Oh!!!!!! That’s a great chair, I love it. It’s really sturdy with the leg support, and the seat and back look really well-cushioned. I can really see that it’s easy to fall asleep in, even though that angle would be really bad for your back. Not that Ed would have a problem with that, he’s 15, his knee doesn’t make a cracking sound whenever he gets up after sitting for 2 minutes. Still, it’s good for studying, but there are better chairs to sleep in. slempy boie/10
