black out days, cy&sg
Chanyeol was trending on tipsy, a can of beer that had a tendency of sticking stale to his tongue in one hand, and his words curling slurred around the edges when he turned to mumble a joke into his friends ear. It was a nice enough party, the bass of the music fracturing out into static from outdated speakers and enough people stumbling around drunk to keep everyone at least mildly entertained. He felt too warm, the collar of his shirt brushing uncomfortable at the nape of his neck, but he ignored it—he tended to habitually run a little too hot anyway. He focused in and out on a girl across the room from him, eyes wandering occasionally to land back on her figure, drain a little more of his beer, tear his eyes away, repeat.
Chanyeol felt a little like he was stuck in a continuous loop of a shitty almost-love song and he really wanted to shuck it off, for more than one reason. Not that it was love exactly, more like pride masquerading as feelings that weren't quite as selfish. He knew her, he'd almost been with her, and she'd hooked up with his band mate instead. It was one of those things that grated at him, because he'd liked her—and perhaps in an imitation of her past she was all smoke and mirrors, ghosting away from his fingertips and winding him up into a subtle sort of madness. He didn't appreciate it, but then, Chanyeol had never been one for subtleties.
His eyes slid back to her as Seulgi moved from the living room toward the kitchen of the apartment everyone was crammed into, presumably to get another drink. Chanyeol pushed off the wall to follow after her, drained the rest of his can along the way like it wasn't a poorly disguised excuse to talk. "You look like Barbie." Chanyeol informed her, which may have ranked top three for shittiest pickup lines out there, but he supposed the bitterness was going to drag whatever tumbled drunk out of his mouth down as sour as the amaretto he'd been drinking earlier anyway.
He tossed the can into a plastic bin propped up near the fridge, tugged at a strand of her hair before he tipped open the cooler with the toe of his sneaker to find another drink. "Haven't seen you around in a while." he murmured out, voice pulled low from his stomach, nearly hard to hear above the thrum of music winding into the kitchen. It wasn't like they really met up all that often. He saw her sometimes at shows, parties, it wasn't like he had any sort of claim to her attention. "Maybe that's a good thing." he tacked on, the corner of his lips tipping up into a smile as he cracked open the can and took another sip.
