Life is a highway
I wore black because I liked it. I still do, and wearing it still means something to me. It's still my symbol of rebellion -- against a stagnant status quo … against people whose minds are closed to others' ideas.
Johnny Cash
An Ode to My First Car, A Black Mustang by Mary C.
On a warm, cloudy day in April she rolled into my driveway
And she became my very first car.
That day I could not have imagined
All the memories I would have with her.
I saw a beautiful black mustang.
I looked around and inspected every part of the car.
I saw the hood, covering the engine and other parts,
I didn’t see how that simple hood and other parts would be in my future.
It was what I would sit on with my brother when we got locked out of our house
Or where my friends and I would sit talking and watching the baseball game.
Next I opened up the trunk.
I saw a large empty space,
Not a space that would be filled up
With dodge balls and birthday cakes,
Baseball gear and water balloons,
Or bags filled with books, but more often shopping bags.
As I opened the door, I saw a black interior.
On the dashboard was the radio.
I liked that it had a bass that made me feel cool and that it held 6 CDs.
Later I would love that it was the radio that played the my favorite mix
Or the CD that my friends and I would jam out to in the school parking lot.
Looking back on that day, I was just an excited teenager looking over her first car.
Now I see every part of it and remember something about my life.
That car has been with me through so very much.
This Mustang was not just my first car.
She is a moving scrapbook of memories.

50 Years, Mustang strong
There are so many beautiful places to see along the roads of the United States. Why miss them to speed up the journey? The journey is, after all, half the fun.
The complexity of modern vehicles makes some projects a no-go for newbies, veteran Portsmouth, R.I., mechanic Paul Roderick says. But, Roderick says, there are still plenty of auto DIY projects, like these, for weekend warriors.
You don’t need a mechanic. You can figure this out on your own! Here are 10 more things that you might not have realized you don’t need anyone to fix for you on your car.
3 Things To Always Have With You
Not all of us carry tote bags big enough to haul a small child, and not everyone owns that coveted pair of14-pocket cargo pants, so we need to be picky about what takes up space in our pockets, purses and briefcases. To get the most roar for your room, make sure you always have these surprisingly useful everyday items with you.
Hand sanitizer
○ Obviously we’re all against the constant assault that flu season brings, but in addition to keeping your hands (and other surfaces) germ free, a bottle of the gel is also useful to squirt onto frozen car locks to help quickly break down ice. You can also use a dab of it to quickly shine up your cell phone screen or glasses.
Clear nail polish
○ Alright, guys, I know you might not be worried about chipping your new manicure, but hear me out. Clear nail polish has plenty uses outside of the beauty department. If you rip an article of clothing, dab some on the ragged threads to keep the cloth from unraveling further. If you scratch the paint on your car, cover the scratch from clear nail polish to keep it from rusting before you can get to the shop. If you’re tired of licking envelopes or stamps, paint a strip of polish on the seal instead.
A piece of a kitchen sponge
○ Sure, you can use it to clean up spills, polish leather and apply makeup, but you can also use this handy little guy to quickly remove deodorant stains (when the sponge is dry). You should also consider keeping one in your car with a plastic bag, because if your car starts to leak oil, a sponge on top of a plastic bag will effectively contain the fluid, minimizing fumes, until you can get it fixed.
Show your true colors! Take the quiz to find out what color best represents you, and what that means about your personality.
Fact: A ‘stang by any other name is still a ‘stang.
