the words were spoken through her closed door.   abitha was looking through the peep hole to see  the mothman  standing there,  holding what looked to be a couple paper bags.   her brows furrowed as she immediately opened the wooden barrier between them,  grabbing the cryptid by the arm and pulling him into her apartment.   god forbid a neighbor would see some  thing  hanging around her door.   she already had to work hard enough to maintain a normal exterior,  she wasn't about to let the mothman,  of all creatures,  ruin that for her.

❝  what is it?  ❞   she'd asked before snatching one of the bags.   she looked into it and saw a cereal box with some vegetables on the top layer.   her eyes flickered back to the other instantly as her gaze sharpened,  suspicion in full display across her features.   ❝  are these...?  ❞   someone's groceries?   now,  considering  what  he is,  she reckoned he didn't go into a grocery store to buy these himself.   not that he would have the capital,  either.   but she was too lazy to actually go shopping herself this week so she wasn't about to  look at a gift horse in the mouth.   whatever that expression meant.     ❝  i just want you to know that you are very lucky i don't feel like going to get groceries myself this week,  otherwise i would definitely be asking a million questions,  starting with  where you got these from.   or,  rather  how  you got these.  ❞

i think i'm gonna shift my writing style on all my blogs to past tense. it just makes more sense for me (at this time) and my muses are always more reflective so the past tense style makes the most sense.
