Have you ever taken a minute to think about free will? I'm not referring to the ability to make our own decisions as much as I am the ramifications of that ability and what it tells us about God. It really is a fascinating concept to think about. For one, it tells us is that He's not egotistical. When the Lord gave us free will He gave us an incredible gift. He wanted us to have the ability to choose Him. What a beautiful thing. He could have made us love Him. He is all powerful, after all. History is full of rulers and dictators forcing those considered less valuable into submission through fear and threats of pain. But He's not like that. It was more important to Him for us to make that decision ourselves than it was for Him to ensure our affections. I honestly can't believe that He created us because He needed our worship. If He did, He wouldn't have given us the option to reject Him. What He must have really wanted was relationship. Not relationship that was required for living on His planet and breathing His air, but relationship that was fought for and desired. Another thing our free will tells us is how empowering a Father He is. A parent who is afraid of losing control often uses fear to manipulate their child into making the desired actions. But God, knowing how vital it is for His children to be given the ability to choose, uses love to draw us toward the right decisions. Love empowers us to learn responsibility while fear tries to take away our ability to choose. But here's the part of all of this that intrigues me the most. By giving us free will, the Lord made His heart vulnerable. Have you ever thought about that before? He opened Himself to the possibility of being rejected by the ones He created with such loving care. He wanted us to choose Him. Love, by nature, is a choice and He could not require us to love Him and have it be genuine at the same time. To me, this speaks volumes of the God we follow. What kind of all-powerful Being would not only desire relationship with His creation but would also allow Himself to be vulnerable with them? He's certainly not just anyone and certainly not what we would expect. He is unimaginably good and we are incredibly fortunate to know and love Him.
This is such a rad song.. love love love it! Just want to bop along… !Â
Every day I wake up with a song in my head ... literally - I sing all the time... It seems to be what I was born to do because it gives me constant joy.. This morning the words.. ‘God I look to you....’ were on my lips before I even opened my eyes..Â
I just had to find it, learn to play in on the guitar and singgg..... (after school drop offs and in between work ;)
Here are the words.. And they are so apt as I have been feeling just that the last few days.. overwhelmed by several things.. He speaks to our hearts and our minds.. God is SO great and SO in the detail and in the thick of our lives and our struggles - we just have to listen, we just need to HEAR.Â
I pray that you - reading this now - will hear God and the words He speaks over you and into your life. Words are LIFE.Â
John 1: 1
‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.’
God I look to You
I won't be overwhelmed Give me vision to see things like You do God I look to You You're where my help comes from Give me wisdom, You know just what to do And I will love You Lord my strength And I will love you Lord my shield And I will love You Lord my rock Forever all my days I will love you God Hallelujah our God reigns Hallelujah our God reigns Hallelujah our God reigns Forever all my days Hallelujah

Very cool new song from The Brilliance - love it!Â
I just love this - that we can sing HALLELUJAH, celebrate and rejoice because it is already done. It is finished. Jesus did it all for us, and this is the most beautiful love story of GRACE and REDEMPTION - right there is middle of the heart-wrenching sacrificial death of LOVE hanging on a cross - THE life given for us, for every person and for every sin.Â
This space is held in past, present and future - a timeless and infinite moment that is all consuming if you let it be. And when you do, it does just that - it consumes your smallness, it consumers your fears and your worries, it consumes those things that feel so big in this moment but will be gone tomorrow or next week or next year - it drowns it all out in Perfect Love. And when you get this, GET this space, GET INTO this space, you are filled with a sense of peace and Holy Presence that can only be described as Perfect Love. Perfect Joy. This is where you can come undone only to be glued together again with the Love of a Father, the Love of a Son and the Love of a Holy Spirit - giving you a WHOLY Spirit - full, without need or desire or want. THAT is encounter, that is life - THAT is love.Â
I am in awe to have felt this, and to be blessing to be able to feel that again and again - I truly believe that one encounter can change EVERYTHING - this has been my experience. You become new. It's as simple and complex as that.Â
Amazing Grace.Â
Exhale.Â
