Surprise! I think of Midnights as a complete concept album, with those 13 songs forming a full picture of the intensities of that mystifying, mad hour. However! There were other songs we wrote on our journey to find that magic 13. I’m calling them 3am tracks. Lately I’ve been loving the feeling of sharing more of our creative process with you, like we do with From The Vault tracks. So it’s 3am and I’m giving them to you now. 🌌

Midnights is a wild ride of an album and I couldn’t be happier that my co pilot on this adventure was Jack Antonoff. He’s my friend for life (presumptuous I know but I stand by it) and we’ve been making music together for nearly a decade HOWEVER… this is our first album we’ve done with just the two of us as main collaborators. We’d been toying with ideas and had written a few things we loved, but Midnights actually really coalesced and flowed out of us when our partners (both actors) did a film together in Panama. Jack and I found ourselves back in New York, alone, recording every night, staying up late and exploring old memories and midnights past. We were so lucky to also work with our brilliant collaborators Sam Dew, Sounwave, Lana Del Rey, Jahaan Sweet, Keanu Beats, William Bowery, and Zoe Kravitz. Laura Sisk was our excellent engineer. The wonderful and wise Beth Garrabrant took the album photographs. Midnights is a collage of intensity, highs and lows and ebbs and flows. Life can be dark, starry, cloudy, terrifying, electrifying, hot, cold, romantic or lonely. Just like Midnights. Which is out now

i was 13 years old when fearless was released. i screamed every lyric into the walls of my bedroom which were plastered with taylor’s posters from j-14 and tigerbeat magazines. i was just starting to navigate my teen years and that record gave me everything i hoped for. now, here i am at 25 years old (26 this year) about to relive that experience all over again with a different mindset. the nostalgia is real and i haven’t had this kind of rush of endorphins since the beginning of 2020 before life changed for us all. my life changed at 13 but in a different way so having this release to look forward to an entire decade later makes me so overwhelmingly happy. i grew up with @taylorswift always having my back musically and now i get to reexperience this all over again in a time where all anyone wants is some hope and something to look forward to.

re experiencing the release of Fearless (Taylor’s Version) with my boyfriend of 4 years when we just moved into our first flat in London.

when i was 13, i only imagined what love felt like and wishing i could have it but little did i know that @taylorswift would have my back (as she always has) releasing Love Story (Taylor’s version) a decade and more later. thank you @taylorswift.
