inquixoticâ.
she waves away his thanks, with a slight air. to her, heâs the obvious choice â good looking, air of mystery. thereâs attraction, and he seems quite the opposite of her, so it was a good first bet. âitâs a whole lot of pressure, right? i canât imagine having to choose.â luckily, any thinking he had to do was going to be overshadowed by the rest of the drama, but she still is sympathetic to being put on the spot like that. itâs easier to step forward and swallow a rejection than it is to make that decision. âmustâve been my winning smile. am i your typical type?âÂ
he doesnât seem like the jealous type, at least not on the surface, which is good in the long run. sheâs sure at least one of these games will require a good kiss or two with other islanders. and besides that, he seems to be of a similar mindset, luckily â though with the added flirtation, which she basks in gladly. âgood answer.â with a pleased smile, she sips her drink and wonders if maybe she shouldnât be a little more genuine. a little voice reminded her that is is still possible heâs doing the same, though. âso what do you want to know? favorite color, favorite author? biggest fears, the meaning of life?â itâs mostly a joke, trying to put him at ease, half selfishly for the good light it would paint her in. she also genuinely wants him to relax from the day one nerves, now that the worst of it is over, enjoy himself some. âiâm an open book. i do want to know what you do for work, though, and about verona. the name alone sounds gorgeous.âÂ
âMORE PRESSURE THAN I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE,â he admits somewhat sheepishly. when he had been told he was the one going to be doing the choosing, he thought it would be a breeze. but then actually looking at people step forward for him quickly proved him wrong. but for now, he thinks he went with the right choice. sheâs easy to talk to, seems like sheâll be able to carry the conversation too. which for enzo is probably one of the most important aspects of doing this whole experience. âi know everyone says this,â he begins, taking a sip of his drink before continuing. âbut i donât really have a type. i normally just get to know the person and see how it goes from there. see if we have chemistry and stuff like that.â enzo doesnât realize just how much heâs said until he stops, gaze looking back to her. âwould you say iâm yours?â he knows she stepped forward for him which he thinks means something, but he wonât feed his ego just yet. Â
HE MIRRORS HER SMILE, thinks that the two of them are off to a pretty good start. they can bounce off each other, he thinks, which is a good sign. "i was thinking just the basics about what you do and everything, but if you want to get existential on day one, we can,â he says, and thereâs a small laugh that follows his words. he knows theyâll have plenty of time to get to know one another, so he figures they donât have to go too deep right away. charlotte is helping him relax a little bit, especially now that itâs just the two of them and not in the big group with everyone else. he nods, leaning back in his chair slightly, figures theyâll be getting to know each other for awhile so might as well get comfortable. âiâm just a writer, mostly just horror and thrillers.â he says with a shrug, and itâs not nearly as glamorous as some of the other contestantâs jobs. âveronaâs great, though. itâs a big tourist spot because of romeo and juliet and whatever, but iâm used to it all. i grew up there and went away for school, but i ended up going back.â enzo doesnât mean to, but he seems to almost downplay it, and itâs because heâs not used to someone wanting to know everything about him. âyouâre from the southern us, right? whatâs it like there?â heâs sure she might still have some questions, but he doesnât want to come off right as a guy who only talks about himself.Â
