SORA - I approach her as though she's Arin's sister, as do the writers. Although he may feel frustrated and let down by her at times, the love they have for each other as "found family" was always present. Arin could put personal grievances aside and still work together, knowing they would eventually talk through and mend those issues. They each know they would never intentionally do anything to hurt the other. That's an incredibly deep bond and very special to me.

RAS - Many fans were so immediate to talk up the idea of "Evil Arin", which admittedly did sadden me a bit. Arin is an empath who always tries to see the best in others and protect the innocent. He's kind and considerate. There was never any hint at him being the sort to betray his very strong moral code and values. Ultimately, he never did. I think most any desperate lost child with loving parents would have done the same thing as Arin; the most logical thing. He very cautiously sought out the only one offering him prioritized help. Arin ALWAYS kept Ras at an emotional "arm's length". He knows he's ruthless and manipulative. The goal was simply to get any useful info and get out unscathed. It's a chess game against a master player and Arin didn't want to be caught playing checkers. Despite Ras's methods, I don't think Arin truly hates him, or anyone. I think he pities him.

LLOYD - Their connection keeps evolving, which makes it particularly interesting to me. Arin goes from viewing Lloyd as an idolized superhero on a pedestal, to a down-to-earth mentor, to a peer; a caring and well-meaning guy who's just too overwhelmed with responsibilites. There's a very important life lesson in there. At the end of the day, EVERYONE has limitations. At times, everyone is just some goof and prone to mistakes. All your heroes are flawed. What matters is if they care about those mistakes and are actually trying to do their best despite them. I believe that Arin never stopped having a great respect for Lloyd, even though he felt the need to take a different path. Nowadays, he's simply more aware that Lloyd is still learning, but always knew that his heart was in the right place.

Today we were talking about how words can mean different things to different communities, and that people outside the community wouldn't understand. Like how a non-poker player wouldn't understand poker jargon the way other poker players would. Anyway, then my professor said he was gonna show us his "favourite example" and wrote a single word on the board that gave me instant psychic damage: beta.

Apparently sport climbers use this word with a meaning of "technique, method." But for a horrifying, horrifying second there was the possibility in my mind that we were gonna talk about ABO in my fucking linguistics class
