2025 Renegade Bindery Bound Fic Exchange
Bind #2 - way home
This was my second year participating in @renegadeguild's annual gift exchange, and I ended up choosing to bind two fics for my giftee.
The first was way home by yamabato, a Haikyuu fic.

Bind #1 - if these wings could fly
This was my second year participating in @renegadeguild's annual gift exchange, and I ended up choosing to bind two fics for my giftee.
The first was if these wings could fly by MaximillianDelirium, a Genshin Impact fic.
Honestly, my favorite thing about this bind is the absolutely gorgeous fabric. It's hard to capture in photos, but it has a similar metallic gold throughout to the HTV.
(I did bind this fic entirely fandom-blind. I knew literally nothing about Genshin Impact except "it's a game" prior to this.)

Bind #2 - Complicated Creation
This was my first year participating in @renegadeguild's annual gift exchange, and I ended up choosing to bind two fics for my giftee @grimmauldplacepublishing.
The second book I bound was Complicated Creation by Elemental (@elementalsight)
I absolutely love how the chrome vinyl turned out on the covers - even if it was incredibly frustrating to weed the design. WORTH IT.
The endbands are custom dyed linen thread to coordinate with the bookcloth, and the edges were inked and then speckled with a thin, silver acrylic for a very subtle shimmer and speckled effect. The end pages were custom speckled as well with a trio of coordinating purple inks.
Additionally, I did a custom drawing for the fic of a stylized nine-tailed fox. It's featured on both the title page and in the text when Tamamo-no-Mae is introduced.

Bind #1 - Away Childish Things
This was my first year participating in @renegadeguild's gift exchange, and I ended up choosing to bind two fics for my giftee @grimmauldplacepublishing.
The first book I bound was Away Childish Things by letterred (@letteredlettered)
I opted for a simpler, more understated cover design on this one. This was my first time working with a faux-leather fabric and I'm really happy with how cleanly it turned out for the spine.
Both of my binds for the exchange feature a bookmark that goes from bottom to top so that the charm can be dangled and visible down the spine of the book, even while stored on a shelf without hanging off the bottom of the shelf. Additionally, this bind features speckled edges using a dark green ink that has a metallic gold shimmer. That shimmer is almost impossible to capture on camera, unfortunately. The ink in question is: J. Herbin 1670 Emerald de Chivor
The endpages were custom paste papers made with metalic ink and silver acrylic mixed in for a subtle, green and silver combo to compliment the more minimalist design of the overall book.
The Saffron Soul by BeautifuFiction [A Fanbinding]
I am incredibly happy with how this bind turned out, especially how nicely the different gold elements tied together in the end.
The book measures 8.5 in x 6 in and is right around 2 inches thick, and the fic itself is 673 pages long.
This one involved 5 or 6 firsts for me as a bookbinder, including a binding technique I've never tried before (K118). One unique aspect of K118 books is the ability to open it a full 360 degrees! And while I definitely have some room for improvement in a few areas on this method, this book can successfully do open all the way!
A big thank you to @the-pen-pot for giving permission to share this bind and for writing such a wonderful fic. 💖
I really loved this fic by @blchwaaaan (link to the fic on AO3 below - go check it out!!) and I just had to do a little pamphlet binding for it. 💜💜💜 The cover pattern is my 2nd favorite thing about it (the first being the fic itself!)

Finally getting around to posting this. 😅
A little while ago, I got into bookbinding as a way to immortalize and have physical copies of some of my favorite fanfics. So, I made a hard copy of one of my all-time favorite Legend of Zelda fics: Sands of Time by tirsynni
And while most of the fics I bind are going to be personal copies that I keep, this one now belongs to @tirsynni! It's awesome when I am in a position to give something back to authors who have put so much time and effort into my favorite stories they've shared with readers for free. 🥰
Reblogging this because I finally got around to putting it up on AO3 as well.
