Chester zoo has an absolutely amazing, giant anteater.
It’s pretty shy, but when it came out to investigate the day, it was magical.
The beautiful enclosure at Chester Zoo for their family of Giant Otters from South America.
They can grow up to 1.7 meters (5.6ft), which is giant indeed and the reason they need such a large enclosure.
Chester zoo Jaguars
Last weekend I had the pleasure of visiting Chester zoo, where I’ve been wanting to go for some time.
It’s certainly come a very long way from it’s humble begins as depicted in the recent BBC drama series Our Zoo.
It has a strong reputation for being an engaging and entertaining zoo with a wide variety of animals and conservation projects. In my opinion it’s a well deserved reputation and I can’t wait to get the chance to go back there again soon.
One example of the diversity to be found at chester zoo is this astonishingly beautiful Black Panther, one of two Jaguars that I was lucky enough to see out during my visit (more pictures to follow)

The imaginatively named, white faced whistling duck.
They have a clear three-note whistling call and white faces. Oh and they fly brilliantly as a team :)
There is a delightful new arrival at Whipsnade Zoo. Oscar!!
“I love my stone!!”
One of four Harris's Hawks that were flying together as part of today’s Birds of the World afternoon show at Whipsnade zoo.
Native to South America these impressive birds live in social groups.
