Since Raccoon City is coming back with Requiem, here’s my OC Jade Calloway + bit of lore + art!!
I have her for some years now with my twin @fragileitem
Jade was born with (DM1) a degenerative neuromuscular disorder inherited from her mother. Because of “anticipation,” it hit Jade earlier and harder than it ever did to her mom Her parents met in college and later worked for Umbrella together.
Her father, Stephen, did not know about Laura's condition and the reasons why she joined the umbrella (which was in the hope of finding a cure, so she could have a healthy family). So, he kind of pushed her to have another child, since deep down, he knew that Joshua wasn't his son. Laura died after the labor, due to her body being weak and Jade inherited the disease.
Stephen panicked after realizing the full scope of the situation he pushed his family into, and started working non-stop, with a bit of indirect help from his brother (who worked as a spy to [REDACTED]. Stephen was able to contact [REDACTED] who provided an untested virus found in an extinct bird species in Liaoning, in northeastern China.
The virus was later known as IC-ARUS. It does not “cure” humans in a normal way. It rewrites and upgrades cells, and it tries to reach the brain to spread a bigger “evolution” that the human body cannot fully handle. To stop it from reaching Jade’s brain, Stephen built a magnetic dampening collar, The electromagnetic waves prevented the virus from reaching the brain. He also kept her stable with a drug called HELIOS, which helped push and slow down the virus's immigration.
TIME SKIP TO RACCON AFTER HER FATHER IS DEAD, THE LAB WAS DESTROYED OFC AND SHE GOT A NEW ID AND A NEW LIFE WITH HER UNCLE AND BROTHER!
After the Raccoon City outbreak, Jade was rescued alongside Noah (Friend OC), and later they started working with Wesker, who took an interest in Jade's condition. Jade kept working for Wesker for some years (Re2 - Re5) and was able to study and experiment with a lot of viruses in the process, even studying her own to understand it better.
(Also Noah and Jade are soooo queerbaiting /jk Jade is Aro/Ace lol)
During the RE6 era, the collar was removed due to plot reasons that I'll not go too deep into, and IC-ARUS reached Jade’s brain. Her body changed into the thing shown in the drawing heh.
Joshua (her brother) and Noah made an antidote using Noah’s modified antibodies. They removed IC-ARUS from Jade’s body, but it left her extremely weak. Later, around the RE7/RE8 era, Jade went down a morally questionable path. After years of study, she created a regulated and modified dose of IC-ARUS and applied it to her spine. It helped her recover movement, but it goes against everything Joshua believes since both of their lives were destroyed by B.O.W. research. Jade is going down a morally questionable path (just like someone she once worked to...)
NOW IN REQUIEM! Jade, with training and experience, goes back toward Raccoon looking for something that could cure Joshua. NOW SHE WILL BE THE ONE WHO WILL PROTECT HER BROTHER!... even if it means going against Joshua will (: That’s all I have for now. I didn’t explain the full RE2 to RE5 arc here because the post is already long enough awaaa sorry! i love them smh.... Mutated Jade is an old art i need to update it
