Françoise Paulette Louise Dorléac (21 March 1942 – 26 June 1967)
Both shy and bold. Light, dazzling, but sometimes sad look. Full of contrasts, she was like a twinkling star. — Patrick Modiano
The problem, for many young actresses, is to make a successful transition from young girl to woman, to switch from juvenile parts to adult ones. Françoise Dorléac, who will always be Framboise Dorléac for me, won’t have those difficulties, for she is a precocious, premature woman, with a constructed face and body, constructed firmly, to last. She is the only young actress who might very conceivably have greater and greater appeal. — François Truffaut
Happy birthday Framboise!
Please join me in wishing Françoise Dorléac a happy birthday and in keeping her memory alive. Thanks to her adoring fans she will never fade away and her career will be a testament to the great, albeit too short, life this wonderful woman lead. Keep watching her movies, keep sharing pictures, keep talking about her. We will never forget her beauty, her grace, her talent, her humour, her joie de vivre, … Here’s to Françoise!
PS: I (un)officially declare this international Françoise Dorléac day. ;-)
Joyeux anniversaire Françoise!
Today we celebrate the birthday of our beloved Françoise. I know this is not the best moment for a celebration but in a time of crisis we also need a break now and then. Watching a movie can be an excellent way to forget about all your problems for 90 minutes. So I invite you to watch Les Demoiselles de Rochefort (or any Françoise film for that matter) and enjoy her joie de vivre and escape to the wonderful and fantastic world Jacques Demy created in Rochefort. Let’s honor our Framboise and keep her memory alive. Let her lust for life guide you through these dark and uncertain times.
I (un)officially declare this international Françoise Dorléac day.
I hope you will join me in celebrating our birthdaygirl Framboise by spreading some love and joy just like she keeps doing to this day.
Happy international Françoise Dorléac day. ;-)
80 years ago on this day was born a French girl called Françoise Paulette Louise Dorléac. Little over a year later her sister Catherine was born. By the 60s the sisters had taken the French and international film scene by storm. Working with names as François Truffaut, Jacques Demy, Eduard Molinaro, … Françoise life was cut short in a tragic car accident in 1967, however she made an indelible mark on all people who saw her and all those she met. Even now, 80 years after Françoise’s birth her life, movies, personality keeps being celebrated worldwide by fans who were born decades after her passing. Her legacy is very much alive both professionally, there are still screenings of her movies, and in private, just look at all the tribute pages online. Fans today spread their love for our Framboise on Tumblr, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, … making sure new people are able to discover this very special actress. Whether you just watch her movies, have a fan account or talk about her to your friends of family I just want to say thank you. Thank you for making the time to do so and keeping her memory alive. Françoise spread a lot of love and happiness and it’s a pleasure to see people share that message. I hope the family keeps growing and we can make Françoise happy and proud.
Happiest of birthdays to our beloved Framboise. Take a moment of your day to remember and celebrate this spark of joy who brought and still brings so much happiness to her fans. May she be an inspiration to live life to the fullest and spread postivity wherever you go. Joyeux anniversaire!
Happiest of birthdays to our beloved spring child! May her light continue to shine brightly and bring happiness to her fans. Let's keep her memory vivid and make sure her legacy lives on. Here's to our Framboise! <3
