Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery - A true gem in San Diego, located near Cabrillo National Monument at the peak of Point Loma.
If you can get past the morbid fact that it is indeed a military cemetery much like Arlington in Virginia, you might be fascinated by the dramatic sunsets here. Even if you come during the day, you'll be positioned at one of San Diego's best vantage points, overlooking downtown on the East side of the peak.
I decided to take my father to this point on the last evening of his visit and we were lucky enough to catch this awesome sunset. We stood silent admiring the event and just as the green flash was yet again missed by my shitty eyesight, a distant bugle call announced the official setting of the sun. It wasn't "Taps" but nevertheless I was reminded of my military school days...
