I don’t believe in fandom dnis but generally just no poppy, proship, darkship, etc! I don’t support dream, no wss, and any dsmp content I post is about the characters first and foremost.

Im more bashful about being cringe on my other socials but here I do all my indulgent stuff heehee

The main thing I do is my pokespe au where rubys an admin of team magma, I post about it pretty often :) I’m also just generally very au-ful and love making what if stuff and crossovers and whatnot!

All the pain and suffering Ruby went through in the RS arc was the result of this scene right here. 

After the Salamence split his head open, Ruby’s life got turned inside out. The reason Norman left was to protect his son from a mistake he had made without knowing it, selflessly taking the blame for his child. The Petalburg leader’s plan to summon Rayquaza with Ruby got messed up becauce said eleven-year-old had lost respect for his dad and ran away, when it his fault for Rayquaza escaping in the first place.

From the moment this scene happened, the destiny of every character in the RS arc changed course, got twisted around and messed up. It’s no wonder Celebi came to him while he was living in Johto; none of RS was meant to happen the way that it did, right from the first page. Ruby lost so much in making up for that one mistake he never knew he made, and he first learned of it as his father died summoning Rayquaza to end the war.

But where did the old Ruby go? The old Ruby died in this scene. That happy little boy died right here.

since you said you planned on rewriting your response to my ask about how you imagined what norman and rubys relationship was like pre rs/in general that tumblr tragically deleted this is me sending another ask if youre still interested in answering the question. No pressure tho x3 Thanks!

Aaa yeah for sure!! Sorry for being so late on the rewrite 😭 thank you for the ask! Pre salamence ruby very much idolized norman and wanted to be like him and I think even post salamence this was true for a while! I think Ruby’s aversion to battling is something that was built up gradually through his guilt and he only began to attach that to his father because he sees norman as the primary social force to be the person he hates. He sees his dad as someone incredibly strong and intimidating and so the prospect of someone like that directly opposing him becomes an ironic obstacle similar to what he would represent in the gym challenge.

A lot of my previous post was about how similar ruby and norman are in their self destructive tendencies and ruby getting his blessing to do contests from his father is crucial to him also deconstructing his complex around battling, because the person that symbolises who hes scared to become has allowed him not to be. And from that he can access battling in a healthier way ^^

I also think that Norman’s absence allowed Ruby to make him more intimidating in his mind, and turning his image of a man he majorly knew when he was 5 into a manifestation of his fear who can also crush phones with his bare hands. Ruby clearly still idolizes him a lot though

He values his training and his super special dexholder skill comes from it! There’s just a lot of nuance that his trauma doesn’t allow him to explore.

Both of them also approach problems in a similar martyr-ish way where they take responsibility for others and do their work alone even if it’s not the most efficient option while pushing their loved ones to hate them so it hurts less if they die. I stand by the idea that the reason ruby is Like That in oras is because this line of thinking isn’t disproven!! He’s on the receiving side this time but he idolizes his father so much that he’s like “wow my father so selfless I can’t believe I was so terrible to think he didn’t know what he was doing” and then goes on to do the same thing with the same pokemon.

I think that’s everything I wanted to mention and that I did mention in the original post? But a lot more succinct and less rambly. And less yelling. Sorry for taking so long and thank you for the reminder!!! I love ruby family it makes me sick

Ahhhh thank you!! I love rs analysis I love it so much ❤️ I don’t think I’m adding much to the table with my opinions but I like talking and I appreciate you guys asking me to talk. Rs arc to me is about overcompensation and learning balance.

Both Ruby and sapphire have extreme opinions on what they should do with their pokemon and their lives, and struggle to get along because of it. Team magma and aqua are born from a similar extremism, and the conflict with gym leaders stems from that as well. Ruby can’t get along with his father because he feels like their values are too different, and this gets deconstructed when Norman accepts Ruby. Once Ruby’s secret is revealed, he compensates for his insecurity by doubling down on his refusal to battle, and it drives his and sapphires differences further. Once maxie and Archie work together, they can’t be beaten until ruby and sapphire do too, and learn to compromise.

Oras is similar with Blaise and Amber working for a similar goal despite their different views while ruby works alone and everyone suffers for it, they gotta work together… with the power of friendship…… all these guys really just have to overcome their insecurities and need to work alone and all will be well…
