I have some really messy feelings about the Shadow and Bone series. Like in the TV show the darkling is awful but in a okay I can see how that happened to you and your doing that thing where you finally found someone who could potentially be your equal who wasn’t like your mom way. Also you do seem to really love your people and want a safe place for them. 

But in the book he is just a spiteful child of a man who is a groomer. And is a groomer in the same way my abuser was a groomer. So I’m sitting here like triggered to hell and just am waiting for his inevitable death. 

But watching the TV show I’m like okay but Mal is going to die and Alina isn’t. And she would forgive him eventually. Especially because she did get away. He also straight up was protecting his people and like maybe the next season will show us the fucked up everyone is afraid of you and you’re a narcissistic child who like a billion years old. Like the adjacency that they gave Alina in show make shit muddy as fuck.

Why doesn't knowing what happens after new traumatic bullshit stop it from manifesting after new traumatic bullshit. Like it should be an either or shituation. Like i can either intimately understand that trauma is going to make disociate and be weird and withdrawn and feel a titch like some froze me in glass. Or I could not and those things happen. Not like understand that its going to happen is happening and like not be able to stop or do anything about it and just be mad.

I wish that non-tech people understand that electrical engineer/electrician/technician/computer scientists are not the same thing and that yes we may be able to do a slightly above average version of the amatuer diy of the other ones job because of overlaping parts in our profession, their knowledge base and education and ours are different.
