Darcy Lewis Bingo is now Darcy Lewis Events
This is all just a heads up, friends, about some changes we’ve decided to make and a soft relaunch of this event as more than just a character bingo.
After a spring and summer of more surprise surgeries and medical procedures, important family stuff that needed our attention (in both hemispheres, as one of us mods is top side and the other is down under), and the looming doom and gloom of the world at large rn, it’s probably no huge surprise that we unintentionally disappeared for a bit and had to postpone Darcy Bingo 2025 without notice.
Our apologies, friends. It wasn’t our intention, but, honestly, we’re not sure anyone much noticed our snapping out of existence for a bit amidst the gloominess at large anyway. Everyone is going through it rn, and we’re not immune either.
And we’re both writers, so we get it: being a creative in this current social and political climate is not easy. We want to try to do our part to make it easier and more fun for you to create as an escape again. Having a creative outlet is good for our collective as well as individual mental health. It’s time we try a little bit harder to come together to make a collective creative space. We hope Darcy Lewis Events will be a space where we can all do that.
The good news is, much like half the universe in Endgame, we’ve been unblipped (or more accurately, maybe, we’re working on getting there like everyone else). And we have some ideas to make moving forward with Darcy fanwork events such as a Darcy Bingo easier, with a little less pressure and work, for everyone.
First, we’re obviously renaming and repurposing this space and this event. We want to host all kinds of creative events, longer events with distant deadlines, and shorter, seasonal events with deadlines just in the horizon. We want a little more leeway in deciding which events we want to host next and for you all to be able to weigh in in the future and let us know what kinds of events you’re interested in, too. Hopefully, this will mean no more waiting days and days for custom cards or graphics churned out on outdated laptops and even more outdated software. If it can’t be created in some way on our phones, tablets, or crusty old desktops, it’s probably more work than it’s worth for a bit of writing inspiration. 😆 Our time is as valuable as yours, so we’re changing our methods a bit to honor that, too.
Which means we’re streamlining. We still may do one or two small bingo events each year with premade cards and custom lists of prompt swaps for you to use to personalize your card, but we’re thinking it’s time we go back to our roots and the first mini bingo we hosted here with 3x3 bingo cards and no free spaces to make Darcy Bingo simpler and an easy entry event for everyone.
In addition to the retro changes to our bingo event (and the length of those events), Darcy Lewis Bingo HQ—this tumblr and our Discord server—is getting that new name with a new purpose.
Starting today, you can expect to see us swapping out all the bingo-specific mentions here and on our Discord to make room for our new name and purpose, Darcy Lewis Events.
Despite the name, you can also expect us to host a couple of smaller events each year, events open to our friends in the wider MCU, with one or two events each year that don’t centralize Darcy Lewis as the main character, and maybe even an annual event that’s open to any fandom, including your favorite crossovers.
This won’t mean less Darcy, by any means, just that we’re making room for more MCU events alongside Darcy-centric events, and room for those of us who gather here to share our love of other fandoms, too.
We have something fun and spooky for October meant to go live on Monday. 🤞🏼I’m working through a frozen shoulder and cervical (spinal-neck) pain at the moment, and my husband is having a surgical spinal procedure Tuesday morning, so pls be gentle, friends, if this new event goes up sometime later this week instead, while Turtles has family visiting during her busiest time of year.( —Chrissi) This initial event under our new banner is actually four fanworks challenges in one and it ends on October 31st. It’s a sprint, not a marathon, to be sure.
Questions, concerns, comments? Let us know in the comments below or DM us and we’ll do our best to get back to you quickly. Keep an eye out for another post very soon about our first event. And happy first day of autumn and spooky season!
Your Darcy Lewis Events Mod Team,
—Chrissi & Turtles
