Bridging the gap| Leo and Seohyun
Having spent her entire life being sheltered and overprotected, Seohyun really felt the loneliness most of the time. She was a sociable girl but her parents, once they found out about her ability, locked her inside the house, with nothing around her. Yes, she had everything she wanted, but she never got what she wanted most. Her parents only let her out of her lockdown when Seohyun demanded that she wanted to go to high school like a normal girl. However, high school was too late for her. She lacked the social skills required to make friends due to her lockdown, so she was always alone.
She didnât resent her ability though. She loved it. It was beautiful and she enjoyed making people smile. Midas Touch. The gold touch. Once she joined the Circus, she truly felt like she was home and her true social personality shined. There were so many fascinating people and she really had no idea that there was so many people with abilities like hers. The feeling of not having to hide herself anymore truly made Seohyunâs heart soar. As the Circus opened for the night, Seohyun took up the spot on a pedestal in a golden chair. From her vantage point, she could see everything. All the sideshows, the others who were considered âdecorative piecesâ like her, and afar, the lights of the main tent.
She could always feel a gaze on her though, but once she looked over to whoever it was, there was no one. Tonight though, she was extremely intent in who it was. Maybe it was someone of the security team, Seohyun pondered. As the night drew to a close, she looked around and noticed a boy approached her. He seemed shy, since he kept his head down. A smile rose on her lips. She had a feeling that this was the person who often saw her. As the greeting tumbled from his mouth, she smiled widely. âHi, Iâm Seohyun,â she said, introducing herself, leaning her legs over the edge of her pedestal.
She hopped off the pedestal and straightened herself out, brushing her dress off. Now that they were on the same level, Seohyun allowed herself to look him over. He seemed interesting to her. She had heard that there was someone who could take away oxygen from the air, but she wasnât sure who it was.
"I'm Leo" Leo said back, he wasn't really one for talking but this was how it went for him. He didn't really know where or when to begin a conversation that was oh-so-long in the making. He didn't know how he could in anyway start a conversation with this person. He was shy and he was aware that that came off more often than not as him being cold. He didn't mean to but sometimes is was hard for him to make friends. Well it was just for him to be around people. His power and his past made it nearly impossible for him to relax.Â
He didn't really understand people. But then people didn't understand him. No one else knew what it was like to constantly be trying to control the oxygen levels. He needed to constantly be aware of what his body was doing. He needed to be aware of how his emotions were. He needed to know everything about himself and about the environment. He'd gotten good at knowing when someone was too close to be able to get away from him quick enough. He tried to shut off that nagging as he tried to think of what to say to the pretty girl.Â
He smiled  a little and then ran his hand through his hair. "I'm the deoxygenator." he said quietly, he hated telling people but then at the same time it was safer for everyone if he just told them. It enabled them to be able to get away from him if they needed to.Â
Conversation wasn't his strong point. He was never good with people - probably the oxygen thing. He tried to think of what to say to the other hoping she wouldn't say it was creepy or weird of him. "How's it going?"
Late Again...| Leo and Dongwoo
"Thatâs quite alrightâŚ" He nodded in understanding. To be honest, Leo had never seen him when his powers had been involved, and for his sake, Dongwoo hoped that Leo never would.
He paused, taking in everything Leo had been saying. Normal. He called him normal. Leo said that he was normal the way he was, and for some reason, that felt good.Â
"You know.." He said finally, a weak smile on his face. "Youâre right." He nodded. "Youâre absolutely right. If I wasnât like this, then I never would have met you." He said, a sad smile on his face. "And to be honest, I donât know what Iâd do without you."Â
Leo smiled a little at Dongwoo. "Well I am your best friend, so you'd be best friend-less" he laughed a little. "You wouldn't have anyone to be late for. So you'd sleep waaaay longer." Leo laughed again, knowing he was teasing. He didn't know what would happen if they were not even acquaintances. Leo tried to smile as his mind took a turn for the worse. "Your life wouldn't be at risk." Leo bit his lip at he said that.Â
"Hey." he laughed a little, trying to lighten it up. "Imagine me without you. No waiting around." he teased, he didn't really understand why someone like Dongwoo would like him. He didn't understand how he ended up with a best friend, let alone one like Dongwoo. One that was always there, one that would be by his side no matter what. Someone who could instantly make him feel better. Although that could be because of the fe elings he felt growing.Â
He was pretty sure he was crushing on Dongwoo - although that was a childish way to describe it. But he knew that he had to hide it. No one wanted to be liked by someone who could stop them breathing.

Vacant Memory| Open
Within the camp grounds there was a place that was somewhat secluded. He didn't know what else to do but all he knew what that he wanted to sit there, and think. He knew he was getting to the point where he was going to have to act on what he was feeling but then at the same time, he didn't know what do. As if speaking them was painful, as if it would change everything... ok that one was true, just thinking it was beginning to change anything. Telling his feelings outloud would change them. It would change everything.Â
He knew he was being stupid, but then at the same time just his feelings alone was a risk. It was possible that he could lose control and kill the other, but at the same time he didn't want to and he trusted the other to warn him. He was quite glad to be on his own, the football resting at his feet. He toyed with the idea of taking the oxygen from the fooball but decided not to...Â
He sighed a little bit. But that was when he heard the presence of another and he smiled. He decided to put a front up.Â

Gay Witchcraft || Gongchan & Leo
It was elementary, humans apprehended arrogance when lady luck left ghastly kisses upon their cheeks, and the man across from him, thinking of his past home and gambling, was not the exception to the rule, not today anyways. As per tradition, a new filing cabinet was imagined within his cerebral archive, titled Taekwoon, the thief of oxygen, and as the man allowed his thoughts to wander Gongchan would arrange them in a cavalcade of organized information. He would have to make it habitual, to repeat the manâs given name until the nostalgia of a mother and ignominy would become ink permanently coiled within the fibers of his irises. The question of his hypothesis was if the manâs spine would shatter as he collected facts and emotions, or if tungsten would replace his vertebrae, and perhaps he wonât be here to find out.
He wore a smirk of his own, the immediate future was clear as day and the stars were in his favor. After this charade he would have an errand boy to fetch him coffee, and do his metaphorical taxes. âOh, Iâm aware. In fact, the probability of me guessing the third card is twenty two thousand one hundred to one. Even if I manage the first two, I would have to be the luckiest man alive, then again,â The rambling was put on hold for the sake of charming devilry, a transition in the tone of his voice from lighthearted to obscured, for he had stolen Oceanusâ voice, played the chords for the sake of self-interest. âThat could be a title for anyone that shares a minute with you. Could I be wrong? No, I donât think so.â The proceeding chuckle was fleeting, and it was the vanilla to return them to a game of low stakes, an almost childish affair whilst he smiled back the concealed knowledge. In another life, one without an addiction for what was juvenile and impermanent he would have made a brilliant politician.
âTaekwoon.â He made a point to use the manâs true name, and he would rearrange it, make it his own with each replication. Gongchan sought out eye contact, and acted as the surgeon studying electrical currents pulsating within his head. Simplicity at its finest, paired well with a shot of adrenaline â a rather rare phenomenon that only circulated when met with a new, interesting victim, and the soon-to-be minion could be paraphrased in a million ways, but boring would be a word omitted from his existence. However, he was also not the diamond or a quality batch of heroin, no; he was like the others. That was the rule of the world, there were no originals. âOkay, I got it.â Finally the charade of contemplation was forsaken, yet the mummer of hesitation was donned, just to extend the parlor trick until the trap was set, and with a guess of reluctance, he spoke the face of the first drawn card. âIs it the four of diamonds?â
Taekwoon raised his eyebrow a little as Gongchan reeled off the facts, he wondered how much time this boy spent y himself, he just knew that it was pretty impressive to remember such facts, statistics, everything. He smiled a little, not sure how well this boy could play this game. It was chance but at the same time there was no way the other could have possibly trained himself to be good at this game... It was impossible you can't learn to be good at a game of chance. It was just not possible, so in that sense Leo felt safe in the knowledge that Gongchan would have to do the nearly impossible.
At Gongchan's flirtatious words Leo felt a slight flush of colour brush his cheeks, he wished he wore make-up to hide it, it was almost impossible for him to hide his own bodies reaction to things like that. He felt the red spread more as he thought about how embarrassed he was. He was an adult there was no need for him to have this reaction to things like this. He smiled a little as the game began.Â
He was really unsure as to how the game would go, something in the back of his mind was unsure of him winning, while the rest of his mind was telling him that this was going to be easy. He smirked when he got the first card. He looked up when Gongchan guessed. "Yeah." he said, smirking as the odds were still in his favour.

Late Again...| Leo and Dongwoo
Dongwoo smiled at that.Â
"Your eyes are really pretty." He said teasingly, because in reality, Dongwoo didnât know how to deal with his feelings, and because he had been having strong feelings for Leo for such a long time now, it was hard for him to express himself around him. All he knew how to do was be a trickster, so despite caring deeply for him, he could only crack another stupid joke.Â
"Me too." He nodded. "But I guess thatâs life." He said with a sigh. "I try to relax around people, itâs just.. sometimes itâs hard." He said with a small frown. "Sometimes I really wish I was born normal, you know?" Because maybe then he wouldnât be a danger to himself and those around him. "Oh well."
With that, he remained silent for a moment, taking that time to think.
"Well, you donât have to worry when youâre around me." He said with a smile. "Because I trust you, and you trust me." He nodded, that stupid grin returning to his face. "And thatâs all that should matter." Because at the end of the day, when everything seemed dim, he remembered that he had Leo, and would always have him.
Leo laughed a little. "You haven't seen them when I use my power." Leo smiled a little, part of him was proud that he hadn't ever used his power around Dongwoo - he'd just told the boy of the incidents because he knew the other would understand him. He smiled a little as he thought about it, how he had some control around Dongwoo like he never really had around anyone else, he assumed it was just a protective instinct he had.Â
Leo laughed, "I couldn't imagine you being ... with out your power." Leo said quietly. "I mean, you're normal now, you being the way you are is normal. It's your normal." Leo said softly hoping he didn't sound weird with the way he expressed it. "Would we have still met if you weren't gifted." Leo mused almost to himself, the thought of not having met Dongwoo was weird, the idea of not being around him was hard.Â
Leo smiled back at Dongwoo and smiled. "Yeah... that's all that matters." Leo smiled more, of course he didn't believe that they were talking in the same way, it was hard for him to explain what he thought because he was quiet. "It's nice to always have someone"

Late Again...| Leo and Dongwoo
"Why would I be scared of that?" He teased back, nudging the other man with his elbow. "I trust you. And besides, you could never hurt me." Dongwoo didnât believe in many things, but that was one thing he would always strongly believe in. Leo could never hurt him, as he could never hurt Leo.
"WellâŚ" He said with a sigh. "To be honest, when Iâm alone." He hated to admit it, but being alone made him feel more secure. Because when he was alone, there wasnât a risk that he would be hurting anybody, and to him, that made him feel safe.Â
Muttering to himself, he quietly replied to the others short, âI wish I could you feel safe.â
He nodded though, agreeing with Leoâs final thought.Â
"Yeah, I agree." He said with a weak smile. "Iâve always thought that too."
Leo smile a little at Dongwoo. "Ok so it would kill me if I ever hurt you, but you might find my eyes pretty." he cringed a little at his own words, this was so unlike him and it was an attitude towards people that he didn't normally take. He didn't to make it obvious that he was habouring a crush. He was never going to be safe enough to be with anyone so he was only setting himself up for heartbreak.Â
"I wish it wasn't that way." Leo said quietly, "I wish there was a way we could make it so you can relax more often. I know what it's like to be tense all the time, it drives me insane." Leo tried to smile, but he could only force half of one. He looked at Dongwoo and smiled.Â
"If it helps I know you're not going to hurt me." Leo said quietly, offering a small shrug. "I just... I can't trust myself around people. I can't promise that I will never make a mistake." Leo shrugged a little and then looked at the scenery they had now found themselves surrounded by.Â
"It's so beautiful here."
Wrong Place, Wrong Time| Leo and Xiumin
Xiumin opened his eyes and peered over at Leo next to him, noticing the strange paleness in his eyes though knew better than to say anything about it. At this point, he was used to weird things like that; although he found it quite interesting. He didnât know what Leo felt about his own eyes, but Xiumin was one of those people that wished he could change his eye color. Maybe that was weird of him to want, but thatâd be less troublesome than hypnotizing people in his opinion.
Listening to the other, he understood the point being made. Even though unwilling hypnotism was quite bothersome, Leoâs ability was definitely much less convenient and much more dangerous for others. Xiumin felt bad for him; even though the ability may seem cool to someone at first, in hindsight it really must be tiring to have to deal with. Losing all that energy but also having a constant fear of harming others must be a lot to bear for the young guy. âWell, I guess I could kill someone with my power⌠Itâs just that I could choose if I wanted to or notâŚwhich I would never do. But I know what you mean. You donât have complete control over it. And Iâm sorry for that. I hope that in the future you can figure out a way to make it so that you arenât afraid to be around others anymore. Everyone needs human interaction; so maybe someday youâll have better control over itâŚâ
Looking down at his hands, Xiumin smiled weakly and shook his head. âWhy would I freak out on you for something that wasnât even your fault? You didnât ask for any of this. Anyone who would be upset with you for something you have no control over is not very nice. Itâs okay to be in shock, itâs okay to be upset to have almost died, but being upset with you doesnât help anything. You feel just as upset as them, maybe even more so because if you really did hurt someone, youâd have to live with the guilt. I could never deal with anything like thatâŚâ He let out a soft sigh and scratched the side of his head. âIâm sorry, I talk a lot.â
As Leo talked about his real name, all Xiumin could do was smile a bit bitterly, knowing full well how the other felt. âWell, TaekwoonâŚI could call you that if you want.â
Leo looked down a little. "Yeah... control, that would be a nice thought. I just don't think my power can ever be controlled, with great power comes trials and honestly I don't think there is anyway that this can be controlled more than it is." he sighed. "It's triggered by emotions I can't control, like fear, anger.... love sometimes." Leo said quietly. He looked down a little that prospect in itself was quite scary the idea that just loving someone put them at risk of suffering from his power was scary but he had learnt to accept that this was his lot in life. "I just have to be careful around people" Leo smiled.Â
"Like how those with gifts like strength have to be careful to not crush the hands of those who hold theirs. It is the same, you learn how much oxygen a person can live without and you learn how to stop yourself letting them get nearly that close to the limit. He learnt over time how to stop himself and he'd learnt how to protect the people around him. Of course it wasn't fail safe but he was more often in control now than not.Â
"It's fine, I like listening." Leo said quietly, it allowed him to be quiet, and honestly he liked listening to other people speak, he liked trying to understand them, he liked trying to see where they were coming from and he liked that they had different life experiences to him so he could always learn from them.Â
"Ok, I'd like that." he smiled a little.Â

Late Again...| Leo and Dongwoo
Dongwoo let ot a small hum, a content smile on his face. It was nice, being able to take Leo out to such a special place to him. He loved the outdoors, and being able to bring Leo to one of the places he had gone to most, made something inside of him twitch. He felt nervous all of a sudden, and didnât know why. Shaking it off, he grinned.Â
"Isnât it just?" He said softly, glancing over at the taller boy. "Itâs really nice out here. A beautiful scenery, a peaceful environment, and just the two of us." Â He sighed, glancing down at his feet. "Thereâs nothing more perfect than this, is there?" He was rambling, which could only mean one thing. Dongwoo liked Leo. Well, of course he liked Leo, Leo was his best friend. But, he felt like it was something more.Â
"Winterâs my favourite." He nodded, looking back at him again. "The summer is too hot, and when itâs too hot, thereâs too much of a risk that my powers could hurt someone." He frowned, but quickly turned it back into a smile. "At least in the winter, thereâs a less chance of me sweating, so I can actually be around people." Dongwooâs ability made it so that his sweat, saliva, and blood were toxic, and when he would sweat, a poisonous gas could sometime be emitted from him, which was why he preferred the winter. Winter meant cold which meant he didnât sweat, or as much, while in the summer he would sweat, and depending on how much he would sweat, would determine whether or not a toxic gas was emitted.
"Though, I do like summer as well." Despite the hot temperatures, Dongwoo loved the plant and wildlife that came with the summer.
Leo looked over at Dongwoo when he said just the two of us. "Mhm.. we must be far out into the forest." he said quietly, he didn't want to admit that he'd wanted to hear those words. He smiled a little at Dongwoo. "aren't you afraid of having me alone in a forest." Leo laughed a little, he was just teasing. He knew when he was losing control and could easily warn Dongwoo to get away. He also knew that Dongwoo trusted him and that was something that not many people did in this place, or in any place once they found out what he could do. He assumed it might be the same for Dongwoo.Â
"Is there any time you can completely relax?" Leo said quietly. "I wish I could make you feel safe." Leo said more to himself than to Dongwoo, he knew something was different between them than for normal best friends but Leo knew his power wasn't desirable and that Dongwoo could do so much better then him...Â
"I like winter more." Leo said looked around at the forest. "There is something safe about the cold"
