Snug With Me
The day had been long and dreary, rain pouring from the sky in sheets of gray fog. She stared out the bedroom window, listening to the low rumble in the clouds. It was a late afternoon, the weekend shot for the heavy precipitation that had lingered for two days already. "What are you thinking about?" The voice made her head turn, brown eyes warning at the sight of the man behind her.
She smiled slightly and turned back towards the glass. "Nothing really... Just a shame the weather's been so..." She paused, trying to find the right word. "...fucked,"
He chuckled, passing by the bed and coming to a stop behind her. Wrapping his arms around her stomach, a soft kiss landed on the back of her head. "Hmm... Funny you should mention that..."
"Oh my GOD!" She laughed, swatting at his arm with a shockingly bright smile that lit up the room. For a brief moment, he simply stared down at her, taking in the beauty of her face, the soft curve of her cheeks, the little crinkles at the corners of her eyes as she giggled up at him. "You're just awful," She teased, bringing him out of his thoughts.
Shrugging, he gave a sly smirk. "Awfully sexy, maybe," Squeezing his arms around her small frame, he glanced out the window into the gloom. "...yeah, that rain is kinda shitty, isn't it?"
"...yeah... It is..." Leaning into his chest, she closes her eyes, the tapping of the rain on glass slowly clearing her mind. "...kinda wanna just... Lay in bed... Watch the rain..."
After a thoughtful few moments, she felt her body being pulled backwards. Before she could yell out, she found herself half wrapped in the unmade bedsheets. "Let's do it, then. At least for a while," He smiled, pulling her firmly into his chest. Sliding his hand under the pillow, he rested his cheek against her head as he relaxed. "Yeaaah... This is nice..."
His hands brushed against her skin as he pulled her close. His fingers danced lightly along her arm as he hugged the sheets further over them. The deep brown tones of her skin brightened for an instant against the white fabric, catching his eye. He reached up, gently brushing down her hair under his nose. Inhaling the scent of her, he shut his eyes, holding her as though he were protecting her from the creeping darkness outside.
She couldn't stop the childishly giddy smile from spreading across her lips as she wriggled back against him. The warmth of his embrace radiated into her back, relaxing and calming her mind and body. Closing her eyes, she slowed her breathing, focusing on the sounds around her.
The steady beat of the rain on the world outside the window came to her first. The breathing that was slowing against the back of her neck brought her into the house. The heat of his body against her was trapped by the blanket he pulled up to tuck around her. It was comforting, and safe...
His heart beating against her back was even and steady, the rhythm easing into her spine and making her sigh in contentment. "Yeah..." She murmured softly, entwining her fingers with his as they listened to the distant sound of rolling thunder. "...this is... Really nice..."
