I've just finished reading my 100th book this year and I can't quite believe it! I can count on one hand the amount of books I read in 2016 and 2017 as I was living that sleep deprived, overwhelmed, new mother for the second time, kind of life. So, for me, the chance to read so much signifies a change in my family life and in myself. I'm not so sleep deprived nowadays, I have a (little) time to spare, and I'm now reading chapter books to Lyra too. Back to the dreaded school run tomorrow. Me and this little one are going to miss Lyra that's for sure! Thee isn't back to preschool until next week so we've got a few days together first which is nice. She's grown loads this summer, in both size and attitude. I mean, look at that face! . . One last glorious day of summer. I am exhausted, the kids have fought with each other non-stop all week, and I'm about ready for them to go back to school/preschool. But I will miss this, I know I will. . . . We have one last day at home tomorrow but that's for school prep and then we're back. Well, it would appear that I got a little cocky with my posting about my 'perfect' day yesterday and the parenting gods have punished me for it today. . . . So this evening I'm posting this lovely serene photo from our holiday but telling you that I counted down to the kids' bedtime from about 3pm today. There were a lot of tears (not just from the kids), and so much shouting (again not all from the kids). Eurgh. Well you can tell it's the summer holidays as I haven't posted on here in a week! We have been taking it slow, lots of park trips, reading, crafts, and playing in the garden. Not much of anything and yet everything if that makes sense. . . Today we had a go at tie dying for the first time and I'm not sure who loved it more, me or the kids! We just used some old white tops that we had lying around which weren't getting worn as they had stains etc on them. I'm pretty sure they're going to get worn lots now! https://ift.tt/2KaFCJx

Just two days left of school for Lyra and then she's finished reception! She is desperate for the summer holidays to start (as am I) and it is isn't helped by the feeling that everyone else has broken up already. Who else hasn't broken up yet?
