Words need to be used, but how you use them shows who you are.

‘Books are expensive’ has always been my least favorite of the excuses people use when they pirate books. 

Books are, in fact, the most cost effective form of entertainment we have today. In our economy, it’s frequently said that time equals money. If that’s true then let’s break it down. 

Concert Tickets = $120/Concert Time = 3-4 hours – $30-40/hour

Broadway Tickets = $50/Show Time = 2 hours – $25/hour

Movie Tickets = $15-20/Running Time = 1.5-2 hours –$7.50–13.50/hour

Cup of coffee at starbucks = $4.50/drinking time = 1 hour –$4.50/hour

One Young Adult Book (300 Pages) = 17.99/Reading time 5-10 hours – $1.80–3.60/hour

Plus, you get to keep a book forever. If you read it more than once the cost per hour goes down even more. 

So don’t complain that books are expensive. We drop money on these things that expire hours after we buy them and cost much more without a thought. So why do books take the bad rap? Don’t pirate. Buy your books.

The doctor put his hand on her arm and said gently, “You or the baby will survive. Not both. I’m sorry. She closed her eyes and took a deep shaky breath. Those contractions that were ripping through her body meant nothing after that news. She was spinning in a world where bad things happen and there is not a thing she could do. Slowly she opened her eyes and looked to her husband. His eyes were glistening and his head was bowed as he prayed. She looked at their hands entwined and sweaty. The platinum ring with the single diamond sat on her ring finger pressed into the nook between her husband’s pointer and middle fingers. Time passed and all she was able to do was pray. And pray she did, this couldn’t possibly be what was meant to happen. Those dreams, those countless dreams and days spent preparing for their child couldn’t mean nothing. As the time continued she grew withdrawn and unresponsive. Soon enough the doctor told her “start pushing”. She pushed and pushed and screamed with each push. The pain that came with each push was debilitating and horrendous. The encouragements kept coming and time passed so slowly it was unbearable. She was no quitter and this child, this baby girl needed her mother. So she would not give up. No matter what she was going to hold on and fight for her. She made this decision and saw her husbands eyes pleading for her to make it through. Then the doctor looked up and said “she is almost here”. With closed eyes and a gut wrenching scream she pushed as hard as she could. A louder cry erupted in the room her husband’s grip tightened and his eyes lit up. She stared into his eyes while the doctors cleaned the screaming infant. She turned her head and saw a nurse approaching her with a bundle the nurse reached her just as her vision went black and sound faded away.

Dear Darling...

 I still see you every time I close my eyes.I see your face in my dreams and even in strangers whose paths I cross in my daily route. There were a few times when my phone would light up with a message and I could have swore it was your name. More than once during the day i will have a quick flashback o some of our good days and only feel happiness and remorse for our long lost love but then all those fights with words like swords slice their way to the forefront of my mind. Sometimes I even go so far as to question whether either one of us ever truly loved the other. I mean, really, who is to tell? There is no book on love or a way to be positive if whomever you are with is "the one", so what are we to do? All we really can do is seek to surround ourselves with the type of person we desire and hope that is what can be the best, but you surely were not the best.
