Andy Linder, kicking it old school. One of the pioneers of the sport of footbag, Andy Linder has released a new video of some stylish tricks, not only using a footbag. Andy last competed at Worlds in 1991, finishing second to Peter Irish. Maybe 2013 will be the year for a comeback?
Don't Call It A Comeback - Andrew Grant and Tom Mosher return to Footbag. While both of these Canadian players played a huge part in the North American scene during the 2000s, both have become more involved in other passions, but a chance to dust off the shoes and have a kick led to this video, which had many people excited. Among those with positive comments for the video was David Clavens, who recently returned to Pennsylvania, with his visit captured on film. Great to watch the reactions from Nick Polini.
Freestyle Footbag - New "battle" format at Austrian Championships. Taking a leaf from freestyle football, the crew behind the Austrian championships decided to take in a new format, with the battle taking place in Vienna. The video above shows the final between Milan Benda (Czech Republic) and local hero Alex Trenner. The battle encourages variety and entertainment, giving the opportunity to see tricks you may not see in a circle contest. It is also more appealing to have the competitors going head to head. This is a great video from last year's World Championships, which were held in Helsinki, Finland. Finland has such a strong scene in both freestyle and net and some great talent in the video department too.

Current world champion Honza Weber has been doing some great things for freestyle footbag (and freestyle football too) during the year. Check out his latest video - "Freestyle on Fire".
This is a great video from last weekend's Footbag Jam in Las Vegas by Nate Linscott. There is plenty more footage around and I will share some of it later in the week. Some great play by Evan Gatesman.
I'm also hoping we can build a stronger internet presence. I feel like footbag has done very little to harness the power of social media and the communication tools available to us now.

Many Footbag players have appeared on the various TV talent shows, and I believe this is the most recent one - Brayan Steven from Colombia. Colombia has a strong scene and will host the South American Championships in June later this year.
In regards to the judges, one of the other Colombian players had this to say -
One of them was vice-queen in Miss universe once, her name is Paola Turbay, it was on 1992... The other one is Alejandra Azcárate, a model, actress, writer and humorist from Bogotá, Colombia! We enjoy the beauty of the women here!

Off the top of my head their have been performances in Czech Republic, Australia, Denmark, Austria, Colombia and I'm sure many more. Many people talk about a "decline in the Footbag scene", however there are people playing at incredible levels all around the world.
On this page I aim to share photos, videos, interviews, news, results and anything else of interest to Freestyle Footbag players.
The biggest aim is to share the sport with the rest of the population, and not just in Footbag circles. The question will be to see if it works! For those new to the page, footbag is often known as hacky sack, and the freestyle discipline involves performing a range of tricks with a small bag, generally filled with some small pieces of metal.
This page is run by Daniel Boyle, a footbag player from Australia who lives in Santiago de Chile. You can see Daniel's personal Tumblr, some more of his writing or check his progress with his game.
