Afrojack, Lil Wayne and Paris Hilton, "Good Time" Killing any hope for mainstream EDM.
He doesn't classify himself as an EDM artist and producer. He has been quoted as saying he makes "Afrojack music". Well Afrojack, your "music" has taken (in my opinion) a downward spiral. While we can appreciate being chameleon-like and versatile, his collaboration with (on or off again girlfriend?) Paris Hilton for her new single has left me speechless. A week ago he dropped his new single, 'The Spark' featuring Spree Wilson on Pete Tong Radio. While fitting into the rising POP EDM genre, the dancey tune did give you some things to appreciate.
Then yesterday, Rolling Stone Magazine published, "Good Time". I will say as a lover of all music I wanted to give it a Chance. I REALLY did. The song starts out with some promise, I don't dig the auto-tune but I keep listening.
The lyrics don't surprise me. It IS Paris Hilton. The life of a heiress with no cares in the world besides what outfit to dress her dog in. The hook is catchy but nothing fabulous. Then out of nowhere LIL' WAYNE. I was NOT expecting that. He starts his bars and talking about, 'suck, fuck' and 'big butt'. Exclaiming "It's Paris Hilton Bitch!".
I couldn't be more disappointed by a (partial?) EDM producer/DJ if I tried.

If you are a fan of Drum & Bass you know that UKF always brings the best, and Chase & Status should definitely be (if not already) one of your favorite DnB duo's out of the U.K.
There chemistry is amazing. Being friends since the mid nineties, it was solidified when the two DJ'd together at Manchester University. In 2004 they saw their first production, notably 'Duppy Man' along with several others.
'Brand New Machine' is one of the most anticipated releases from UKF, and we cannot wait to hear it!

BRO Brings A Hermit Crab To A Music Festival
Seen recently on Reddit, is a photo of a "Bro" who took his beloved hermit crab into the middle of a music festival.
It is possible that this man was paying homage to a B-52's concert, where they requested Crustaceans to enjoy Rhythm and Blues based riffs.
Either way, we are pretty sure this is a first at a festival!

Dollar Per Basshead Donations Announced!

The King of Bassheads has announced a total of 100K going to charities!
National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics will be receiving $50,000, with the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Contact USA both receiving $30k and $20k respectively.

EDM Vocalist claims Mitis hasn't paid her
Anna Yvette, vocalist (and fellow Unicorn), is claiming that producer Mitis hasn't paid her for the vocal work she did.
Quoted from her Facebook;
"Mitis has NEVER PAID ME FOR A SINGLE VOCAL I HAVE DONE FOR HIM! I have done FOUR songs for him (only two of which have been officially released) , he has sampled my vocals in other songs that are for sale, he has NEVER paid me for my time EVER! Even though, he goes and tours and makes money playing shows and plays songs we've done together... In lieu of monetary compensation AND THE ONLY THING I HAVE EVER ASKED FOR from MitiS was to make the song "change will come" a fb like for a download when he posted it for free. I think that is EXTREMELY fair."
Once word began to spread the EDM community, Mitis tweeted the following (we can only assume) in reply to the buzz,
