You’ve suggested a couple times that the backlash from 431 (even his editors forcing his hand) may have influenced Horikoshi when making the latest one shot. While I know it’s all speculation and we probably won’t ever really know, do you think it’s possible it was the other way around? While I have plenty of complaints about the epilogue, 431 felt so completely out of place that even before we got this one shot, I had chalked it up to editorial overreach, but then my high regard for his writing prior to the epilogue might have me biased here.

My assumption is based on the notion that 431 came out as part of volume 42 and never was serialized in WSJ. This means Horikoshi's editors would likely have had nothing to do with 431. It's all Horikoshi. But Horikoshi's reputation suffered from 431 and MHA's too as a result. They were likely concerned this ultra age book wouldn't sell well unless news came out that shit got better, and so Horikoshi would have been pressured to make his mini-chapter included in it a bit more palatable and at least something people would want to buy. And I have too much respect for Horikoshi to absolve him of responsibility for the shitty things he has written and drawn. He has to own it.

Well, I already liked this ed because of the visuals and I think you can apply the song for a lot of characters and dynamics. Even in the mv, there are elements of tenko and these lines "Light up this path with your blooming smile. Your face is my origin" screams very togaocha to me but because I'm a bkdk thru and thru ofc I make it about them and well there they are.
