𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫, 𝐚 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 born prince and a should be northern queen, their words were pretty but little meaning was held between. they were not friends, despite having met few times since their birth, their families separated by a crown, one that they each believed they deserved, while one had it, the other wanted what was rightfully hers. ❛ — it was the appropriate thing to do, your grace. and i appreciate that, i do believe i shall retired soon, a moons turn of travel is a long way. ❜

From all of the houses coming to King’s Landing for his brother’s coronation, the Starks were definitely the ones Rhaegar was the most worried about. They were proud people who thought they deserved their independence, much like Dorne and the Iron Islands. Although, they forget those region asked for it and negotiated with his mother, all those years ago. Their independence wasn’t given for free, like the north seems to want it. Either way, Rhaegar didn’t speak his mind, not wanting to start a pointless conflict right now. “Certainly, I do not wish to hold you from your rest any longer. Do you need a servant to show you to your chambers?”

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐦, hand patting his thigh gently as if to say she understands. ❛ — there are some in westeros that should feel the same, but perhaps they cannot express such things. ❜ a glass half full, she was always an optimistic girl and even know when she knows many will think lowly of her just for being dornish. ❛ so far, it’s been nothing short of exciting. everything is so different, dorne is beautiful, but this place is so green and so new, i am almost beside myself. you’ll be careful around those dragons, won’t you ? ❜

Nymor nodded his head, he understood that it was apart of their culture and they would hardly change their minds about it. “I would like to think so, at least that’s what I want to believe. Not everyone in Westeros is an idiot, I would think.” A chuckle escaped his lips. Dornish in general seemed to be judged quite a lot in the rest of Westeros, but there was a part of him that even though was hurt because of their harmful comments, didn’t really care about what they thought. Nymor would go back to Dorne after this was done and most likely never see these people again. “I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself, princess. Our curious minds are having the time of their lives in here.” He chuckled. “Don’t worry, I don’t plan on sneaking into the dragon pit and turn into one of the dragon’s lunch. I’ll be happy watching them fly over our heads.”

𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 dragon queen’s offspring would have protectors for always among the dothraki, loqqo was proof of that. ❛ — vipers lay in the tall grass all around us. ❜ she murmurs softly, taking the offered chalice before her as she listened to him speak. ❛ i know that dangers lurk around. if you haven’t noticed, my sworn sword stands not too far from where we are now. ❜ she glances over her shoulder once more before taking a swallow of the heavy ale. ❛ might as well, seeing as there will be little rest until everyone has returned to their homes. ❜

Even though the khaleesi was now dead, Loqqo remained in King’s Landing to look after her children. They were capable of taking care of themselves, there was no doubt in his mind, but it didn’t hurt to have another ally in here. It would be what his khaleesi would’ve wanted. “That is true, but if you are cautious enough around them, you might be able to cut off their heads, without them even realizing it.” Loqqo nodded his head as he took a sip from his ale. “I’ve noticed your sworn sword and I know they will lay their life to save your’s. You cannot blame me for being worried, mostly now that are so many new face arriving.” A sigh escaped his lips. “We will have some long days ahead of us, but hopefully it will be over soon and everything will go back to normal.”

𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 and twenty, who watched her mother as she took her last breath, she was strong at certain times. she was dragon blood, she knew that but with every new pair of eyes that met her features, she felt smaller and weaker. dreams that plagued like a sickness left baela worried more often than not. ❛ — and what if i am not strong enough, rhaegar? what if they know that. ❜ she worried her lip with her teeth as she turns back to the people. ❛ vaehra and i would like that, i can feel her getting antsy with the new arrivals, just as i. ❜ she pauses, making the final turn away from the balcony, taking steps away to bring herself out of view of everyone, back into their home. ❛ tensions brew when black and grey meet. ❜ she repeats softly. ❛ there are too many, the dreams to vague. i wish i knew. ❜ and who was to be deemed deserving now, no wars had come to pass, a new monarch in place who would not change his mothers rule. what made them worthy now?

Rhaegar knew and understood where she was coming from. He too felt the same way that she did, there were doubts in his mind, what if he wasn’t good enough? What if he wasn’t strong or smart enough? It haunted him, but he always managed to put up the same strong and stoic figure, that so many people found intimidating. “You are. You have the blood of the dragon. Mother believed in us, I know that much. I believe in you as well, you’re so much stronger than you think, dear sister.” Rhaegar turned around to face her, a warm smile on his face as he brought a hand up to caress his sister’s cheek. “It will be good to clear our minds and forget about everything that’s happening here for a few moments.” He told her before stepping away from the balcony and walking into the room once again. “Me too, but I don’t think continue to repeat it will help. I guess we’ll only know what it truly means when it happens.” Unfortunately, it seemed like the tensions would just keep growing and there wasn’t much they could do about it. The north definitely worried him, but he could only hope they remained as noble as they are known to be and bend the knee without complaining too much.

Dagon had been drowning himself in drink for the past 30 minutes, nothing in the castle had brought him any entertainment. So now he found himself in one of the better taverns in town. He’d thought about going down to flea bottom for a drink, but that was too far for a drink. So he sat alone just watching the others talk. Looking over at the dothraki man who spoke Dagon snorted, “Some of them are fake, I can assure you.” Pausing, he listened to one of the noblemen talk about being at sea and fighting a Harlaw ship. “That man has never seen an Iron Island ship before we arrived here today. But it’s fun to listen to him.”

A small chuckle escaped his lips as he nodded his head. “Oh believe me, I know that most of them are lies, to impress the common folk. Why they would care about impressing strangers, that’s beyond me. Maybe to increase their already very big ego.” He paused to take another sip from his drink before turning to look at the man who had been speaking about sailing and fighting a Harlaw ship. “Well, there was one earlier speaking about how they defeated a Dothraki bloodrider in battle.” He paused, titling his head to the side. “He looked like he had never even held a sword properly in his life.”

𝐞𝐲𝐯𝐚 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 those who weren’t common to the keep, sometimes even by lords that lurked the halls frequently and that was their mistakes, not hers. ❛ — that’s clever of you. ❜ she muses with a slight uplift of her lips. ❛ the shadows are host to the most delectable secrets though. they have never led me astray. ❜ she spoke coyly, brows piquing slightly. ❛ the weather here is constant, we oft not get a wisp of winter, perhaps it’s dragon fire that keeps it at bay. if you truly struggle there is a secluded bay not far from here that you can indulge in, i’m sure you’d appreciate the sea more than most. ❜

Daemon shrugged his shoulders. “It was something taught to me by one of the older ironborn warriors, who helped train me when I was a young boy. I was already underestimated by everyone back then, it was never a new feeling for me, but as I grew older, that advice made a lot more sense to me.” He nodded his head. “I cannot argue against that. I can’t say I pay too much attention to gossip though, I truly do not care about the whispers going around court. Or anywhere else for that matter.” A sigh escaped his lips. “I might have to go for a swim, I miss the water too much.” He paused. “It’s not just about the warm weather, the cold helps me deal better with my pain so it’s going to be some long painful days spent here.”

𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 dragons to be innocent and tamed, she would be a fool to consider that notion, but she knew there was more to the creatures that she as a martell and not a targaryen ( a true born one, for she would soon by one by law ) would understand. ❛ — i fear it makes no sense to me, however, i do believe that it is something that only targaryen would make sense of. ❜ she muses, but her smile never falls. ❛ and i see nothing naïve about it, i think it admirable to want something like that and i too would like that for us, we are to spend our days together, i see no reason for us to not be at peace with one another, at the very least. ❜ she doesn’t want them to be tearing each other apart from the inside, she wanted for them at the very least to be friends. ❛ i fear no place could replace dorne in my heart, however, kings landing looks like a suitable place to be. ❜ as if she had a choice truly, but it wasn’t a false jest. her hands in turn rested against the balcony for a moment, before he back turned from the view, and she pulled herself to sit dangerously on the edge, uncaring of the stares she would receive surely for the unladylike position. ❛ i must tell you, had you stayed longer you would be given a visitors tour, the water gardens and your chambers, we don’t show many people to full tour. ❜

People did not understand dragons. It was fair for them to be afraid, even terrified of them, because people were afraid of what they didn’t understand. Although, it was hard to explain to someone who wasn’t a Targaryen what their bond with their dragon meant, how it felt like to have such a creature connected to you in such a deep way. “I know, it’s hard to explain as well. We’re connected in a deep way, we share the same feelings so whenever I get too upset or angry, my dragon will feel and act the same way. And well, much like me, she’s not very excited about having so many new people invading our home.” A small chuckle escaped his lips. “I’ve always hoped for a loving marriage, since I was a young boy. I knew it would hardly ever happen, being third in line of succession meant I would most likely marry out of duty, to assure political ties between my family and another house. But I’m glad it was you, you seem to share the same mindset as me, which is refreshing.” From what he had experience in court, most ladies would only agree to marry because of his title, but Nila seemed to be different, she didn’t seem to care about titles or positions. Much like him, in a way. “I understand, we will visit Dorne as much as you wish, I do not want to keep you from your home.” When she climbed on the balcony, Rhaegar instinctively placed one of his hands on her back, as if to keep her from losing her balance and fall to certain death. “Truly? I feel honored then, that you would be willing to give me a full tour this time around.” He smiled at her.

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐝 to give the idea some thought, but nila, she hadn’t thought much of anything, she knew as a young girl is was her duty but her cares were not for boys or men, but rather her surroundings, she thought little of the man she was too marry but the way his words were offered hoped that, that was what was to come of their union. ❛ — yes, very much so. i mean, yes, there must be truth to those words but the tone in which they take, i think many are jealous that they do not have the bond targaryens speak so highly of. ❜ nila wasn’t a liar, she held no reason to lie to him. ❛ i’m sure you picked beautifully, i look forward to meeting her. ❜ even should it result in her burning should the dragon not deem her worthy of her bonded. ❛ you seek companionship, honest and true companionship. it’s a refreshing statement to hear, rhaegar, i too wish the same, certainly more so now that i hear it from her lips. ❜ it was never a thought for her until now. ❛ and i should hope that is what is in the future for us, gods be good. ❜ she thinks of them in dorne and cannot contain the small smile of his pink cheeked in the warm sun. ❛ i would wish for you to join me, sunspear is so different to the keep, i would love to give you a proper tour. ❜

Rhaegar couldn’t help the smile that spread across his lips. He was pretty certain that he had smiled more in these few moments they shared together than in the past few years, which was a very strange feeling for him. Rhaegar didn’t know why he felt so at ease around her, but he immediately felt comfortable after meeting her. He was usually so stoic, suspicious and closed off to everyone, it was definitely a new experience for him. “I’m not saying that they are innocent, well tamed creatures, they are not. They are dragons, they cannot be controlled, not truly. But they are beautiful and loyal creatures. The bond is something that can’t be explained, only we understand it. In a way, I guess the dragon is almost an extension of me, if that makes sense.” He knew that to people who were outsiders, it might sound crazy but he knew what hew as saying. “You will, soon, I promise.” He offered her a smile. Rhaegar nodded his head as she spoke, agreeing to what she was saying. “Yes, you could say that. It’s naive to think that we’ll fall in love with one another, but I hope we will at least care enough for each other to be able to love.” He paused. “Me too. I can promise you that I will do everything in my power to make sure you are happy. And have everything you need here. It’s not Dorne but ... I hope you will see it as your home as well.” Rhaegar smiled at her as they reached one of the balconies that looked over the ocean. Rhaegar leaned his arms on the balcony, looking out towards the water. “I’ve been to Sunspear but unfortunately I was only passing by, didn’t get to witness its beauty properly. And I would love to get a tour from you, although I highly doubt its beauty is any match to your’s.”

𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐝 adventure and excitement, her heart made leaps and bounds at the idea of being before a dragon. the thought never scared her previously because she never thought the day would become true, and yet, she was now to wed a dragon prince. she would be considered stupid to not be scared of the great beasts, and she was, but this was to be her future, a dragon princes’ wife and this was something that would become the norm and the fear would ebb into excitement as if oft does. ❛ — we hear whispers of the dragons in dorne, but i think they get misconstrued and jumbled, is she named for any reason? ❜ the princess enquires curiously, ❛ and as for what i am to you, do you envision a wife by duty or a friend? ❜ she was curious to know what he wanted from this marriage. yes, they were an alliance but she didn’t want duty to trump all else. ❛ i fear nightwing would not survive the stables of the keep, he is wild spirited and has freedom to roam, i couldn’t cage him, but alas, i don’t think that dorne will be free of me forever. ❜ she jokes. ❛ i fear books and i are not compatible, i cannot remain still enough to immerse myself, much to septa’s dismay. but, stories i could listen to all day. ❜

Rhaegar wanted his future wife to be involved in everything in his life. And that meant meeting his dragon. Saphira was a family member, the bond he shared with her couldn’t be explained but she was something very important to him. And it wasn’t only for the fact that she was a strong beast, who gave his family an advantage over all the other houses, he cared for her deeply, like a family member. “I’m certain you do and I assume those whispers speak of how terrifying and destructive they are? Most people who whisper about them never even saw one.” A small chuckle escaped his lips. “I liked the name as a young boy, when I first saw her, I thought she looked similar to a sapphire.” He paused. “The name as a whole new meaning now.” Since then, Rhaegar lost his eye and had a sapphire replace it, part of which was because of his dragon. Was he slightly extra for wanting to match with his dragon? Maybe, he did not care though, apart from his family, no one ever got to see him without the eye patch anyways. “I expect ... no, I hope for a wife that will be more than someone I married to give me heirs. I don’t want someone who will only fulfill her duties as a wife in the bed and then ignore me the rest of the time. I believe I want someone who can share my thoughts with, who I can strike a conversation with. Someone I can trust with my life.” And well, someone who Rhaegar can trust around his family as well. He nodded his head, understanding what she meant. “That is understandable. I wouldn’t think so, you are free to go to Dorne whenever you wish, I’ll even accompany you, if you wish.” Another chuckle escaped his lips. “Maybe I can read some of the stories to you? I do enjoy reading a lot and I wouldn’t mind sharing the stories I read with you.”

“i’d worry you’ve taken a knock to the head if you ever stopped.” a playful tap on the shoulder, she offered daemon a wry smile. “watching lords and ladies trip over one another never fails to amuse, though it is but short-lived delight.” a different time and place, she would’ve admired his insouciance. as a captain, amara had taken on a considerable amount of responsibility. even as a young girl she’d dabbled with authority, both her mother’s daughter and a keen student of her father’s approach. the lord sunderland had never been much of a parent, but he’d taught his daughter valuable lessons: how to work her way up within the ranks of the crew and win a spot as captain, an undertaking that required discipline, ruthlessness, respect. to encounter a lack thereof wasn’t something she could easily shrug off; it infuriated her. “that throne matters because we are still expected to pay our respects to it. that damned house believes it still has a hold on the iron islands and its people.” while daenerys targaryen lived and ruled, no one had posed a threat to their isles. crowning a new king bore that risk, and amara was determined to keep sharp. “i fear the late queen’s children have forgotten our mother did not beg for independence. she asked, and she negotiated well. something the north should’ve taken inspiration from.” her final sentence had an air of nonchalance unbefitting for such a subject, mocking. their eldest sibling reigned over the iron islands and dealt political headaches. let them curb their tongue for the sake of diplomacy—amara knew no such restraints.

A groan escaped his lips as he listened to her talk. “You’re starting to sound too much like our older sibling, it’s not fun.” If he was being honest, Daemon couldn’t care less about the political games happening in Westeros. Sure, he cared for the Iron Islands and his people and he wanted to make sure they kept their Independence throughout this change in the crown, but at the same time, he couldn’t be bothered to pay too much attention to it. Daemon was going to play his part, greet the nobles and strike some conversations with them, greet and offer his condolences to the royal family whenever he comes across them but that’ll be it. Daemon won’t go out of his way too appear good. “Why can’t our older sibling, as the representative of our house, do it alone? Again, waste of time, our’s and the royal family’s.” Daemon nodded his head, agreeing with what she was saying. “I want to believe they will respect the agreements their mother did while alive, they wouldn’t stain her memory like that, would they?” He asked, titling his head to the side. “The north is filled with cry babies who get grumpy when they don’t get what they want. They should’ve negotiated, like our mother did and maybe they would’ve gotten their fucking independence. Instead, they cry about it, quite annoying if you ask me.” He shrugged his shoulders.

eyes rolled with mingled vexation and amusement, a sentiment she believed adequately described most (if not all) siblings, younger ones in particular. “you’ve every intention of acting as a nuisance. you’re lucky, after all the inane chit-chat i’ve already endured, i find it refreshing.” so far from home amara found herself in a generous spirit, less inclined to be her usual belligerent self with those she knew and loved. “all hope is not yet lost, brother. i may find a source of entertainment soon enough. a coronation is a grand affair; many things can go awry.” the brunette mused with a smirk. “good, neither have i. let them find and greet us. we are their guests, after all.” as far as amara was concerned, every pretence of gratitude the principality held for being granted independence had fallen with the death of daenerys targaryen. she took great pride in their isles; a harsh, willful people they were on even harsher soil marked by raw, savage beauty. she intended to keep her people even closer in king’s landing, where she believed no one but their own kind could be trusted. the woman was anything if not cynical to the bone. “you’re a prince of pyke, your absence ought to be noticed. we are not here to kowtow to the targaryen king, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t make our presence known one way or another.”

A chuckle escaped his lips as he looked up to his sister. “Well, it wouldn’t truly be me if I didn’t get on your nerves just a little bit.” Even though they hadn’t truly grow up together, as Amara spent most of her time away sailing with her father, once she came back to the Iron Islands to stay with them, they had grown fairly close. And Daemon had a lot of respect for his older sister, for everything that she had achieved on her own. “I certainly hope you’ll find your source of entertainment, for everyone’s sake.” He paused, shrugging his shoulders. “Honestly, I don’t really care if they greet me or not, I don’t care who’s going to be crowned and who’s going to sit on that throne, it’s none of my business.” Mostly now, that the Iron Islands weren’t ruled by whoever was on the Iron Throne. In his mind, no one could be trusted in this place, not even those who were supposed to be their allies. They could only trust one another. “Our older sibling can very well do that, give out the condolences for the entirety of the Iron Islands, our presence here is a waste of time.”

Daemon nodded his head at her. “That is quite smart though, if you don’t spar in public, you won’t let others know what you’re truly capable of. That’s why I always say, never give your best when you’re training, they will underestimate you in the battlefield later.” Many had done that with Daemon in the past, after learning of his health issues but all of them came to regret it. “You never know what might be lurking in the shadows.” He told her with a smirk. “That is true. Either way, I don’t think I would get used to this weather, it’s truly far too warm for me.” He paused. “Give me the Iron Islands anytime.”

Nymor was definitely surprised. This might just be the first person he met since he arrived in King’s Landing that didn’t look at him with disgust after learning of his parentage. He had hoped that there were people here who would share the same thoughts that the dornish did towards bastards, but his hope had been running lower and lower with the more people he spoke with. “Yes, I was raised alongside my father’s legitimate children, I was never casted out or pushed aside, always had the same opportunities.” He smiled at her, before nodding his head. “I guess that is true, it’s refreshing to find someone with such an open mind outside of Dorne.”

A sigh escaped his lips as he shook his head. “It’s all about the front you put up, sister. We cannot show them weakness, we must put up a strong front to show them that even though we just lost our mother, we remain as strong as ever.” He paused, titling his head to the side. “Vipers burn, just like everything else.” Another pause. “What do you say we take Saphira and Vaehra for a ride, give them a little show and show them where the true strength of house Targaryen lays?” He asked, a small smirk appearing on his face. “I cannot tell you. There are a few regions that are unhappy, that much is obvious but I cannot tell you what they are planning to do. With the Iron Islands and Dorne getting their independence all those years ago, every other region thinks they also are deserving of it.”

Rhaegar might not be an expert when it came to courting a lady, but he was smart enough to know that for a marriage to be successful and at least happy, they should know each other as much as possible. It did not make sense to him, that they were to spend the rest of their lives together and know nothing about each other’s interests. “You have a point, I would happily tell you about my family’s history, if you so wish to learn.” He smiled. “Well, I’ll take you to Saphira, she has a bit of a temper when it comes to strangers but when she realizes who you are to me, she’ll be more receptive.” It would take some time, as Rhaegar knows his dragon didn’t like anyone approaching her unless it was him, not even his siblings got to approach her if Rhaegar was not present. As they continued to walk through the gardens, the prince paid close attention to everything she was saying, he had meant it when he said he wanted to know everything there was to know about her. “If you wish to bring your horse to King’s Landing after our marriage I’m certain we can find a place for it on the stables.” A chuckle escaped his lips. “Sounds like you have a curious mind then, we have that in common. The library is my favorite place to be, I often find myself lost in all kinds of books.”

whilst most highborn girls had been perfecting their embroidery skills, amara had been taught many a creative way to kill a man, be it in a swift and clean fashion or a rather more torturous one. neither the iron islands nor the three sisters were places for those faint of heart, tending to snuff out tenderness young (and yet, beneath her sneer and the malevolent glint in her dark hues, amara had managed to retain some). something akin to warmth reflected in her gaze when she saw her brother, but it was gone as quickly as it had appeared, replaced by a scoff. “is that any way to speak to your sister?” almost entirely unlike her, she had no desire to challenge daemon or to feel the burn of others’ stares on a princess trained to wield a blade and weave through movements to avoid fatal blows. she blamed her listlessness on the gilded capital — its rotten core. “this place is stifling; i’ve barely slept. i am seconds away from telling someone it is because of the sheer excitement i feel from meeting that family of silver-haired peacocks at long last.”

Daemon raised his hands in a playful mock before letting out a chuckle. “Apologies sister, I did not mean to be rude.” He put away his sword before sitting down on the bench and picking up the jug that was filled with ale. “And here I thought you would be having lots of fun here.” He teased her before taking a sip from the jug. Daemon was fairly certain that none of the ironborn had wished to be here but in a way were forced to. In his opinion, their older sibling could’ve come alone and shown the iron islands support of the new king. They weren’t even part of the kingdom anymore, but either way, he was having his fun knocking cocky nobles on their asses in the training grounds. “I haven’t even greeted them, I’m fairly certain they won’t even notice though.”
