Art Asks and Commissions for this Tumbie
I’m planning to delete my previous post poll later but here to explain my embarrassing typo story before I remove it:
I made a typo in a dm that was so bad I it sounded like I only do art asks in my ask inbox through paid commissions.
Their question was about whether I do both free public and private art asks.
I was trying to say I’d look at any public art request if I get it properly through my Ask inbox and *might* do it if they interest me but I reserve the right to what I create in those cases. My usual intention of keeping it personal use to the requester + reblog/repost protocols would remain the same. I thought this was the best way to make a disclaimer that I wouldn’t just immediately draw what was asked but I’d be open to suggestions …
What was embarrassing was I accidentally said I’m not gonna draw stuff I like for public art asks
WHICH MAKES NO SENSE, so behold my stupidity in the 3rd bullet point:
My won’t draw publicly bullet point was written in the case their ask is actually NSFW 🗿but I never got to find out what they wanted to ask.
WORST PART:
So my typo literally made it sound like I was trying to get them to request something out of my comfort zone and beyond casual sketching, which made the last bullet point sound like I was saying asking “hey would you be interested in making this a compensated private commission”
What’s with the private word:
-> the reason why I use the word private is bc I wanted to then further explain that I believe when they asked for a private art ask where I wouldn’t post it on tumblr but rather in their dm, that to me that was an actual commission and going beyond just a casual public art ask where I could decide if I’d even take an ask suggestion in the first place.
Instead I sounded rude and only money focused by accident
I couldn’t even properly sort out my typo and I got blocked
Oh the misery …
In Conclusion
Art asks and questions are awesome and I’ll read anything in my inbox 💖
I don’t guarantee art asks to be done. It’s only if I find it overlaps with my own interests in subject and that’s that.
To actually seriously guarantee I draw a request, please ask my availability to take on a formal paid commission request.
Why paid commissions :
It means I’m taking on a project that requires me to carve out personal time I’d usually spend working to supporting myself.
I do not do art asks for private DMs, because I like to keep this tumblr for making and sharing art I am self motivated to create first and foremost. DMing art for someone to use indefinitely for any personal purpose without formal contract (even for the some real simple art I make) does not align with my intentions for this blog. I will only consider that kind of more exclusive personal usage custom work through a paid commission.
