AURELIA DOESN’T EVEN bat an eyelash when she hears Aven’s question, and that alone is enough to make her breathe a sigh of relief. “Oh, thank god,” says Aven as soon as Aurelia takes the very wine bottle she’s been seeking out from her coat pocket like it’s the most normal, most casual, most obvious solution in the world. Of course she’d have the foresight, one way or another.
“Knew I could count on you to have the working brain cell between the two of us,” Aven adds, one corner of her mouth rising slightly. Aven likes to think they’re both reliable in their own ways, perhaps more so in different situations ( she knows she’ll be relying on Aurelia more to keep conversation going later on, that’s for sure ), but remembering things like gifts and birthdays and general niceties were never really her strongest suit. “I’ll make it up to you, I promise.”

“Well, isn’t that often how this plays out?” She pokes playfully, grinning wide as she holds the bottle of wine tightly in her hand. “Happy to do it.” And she was. She always was. It never was a burden or something heavy to her to remember these things.
There’s a snort that soon follows as they stand at the door, and she waves her wife off. “Please, I’ll be making it up to myself by getting tipsy on their very nice wine.” They didn’t spend time with Dawn and Slate much, but these year parties were a guarantee, and their selection of wine was delicious, and most importantly, plentiful. “And having a gorgeous woman by my side is making it up plenty, too.”
