Kalahan grinned at Margaret, even his eyes lit up upon seen her open the door. He couldn’t help the small laugh that came from seeing her blush and he immediately felt the need to kiss her. But he stopped himself, he wanted to make sure the flowers got taken care of first.
He was about to speak when Margaret rushed off. His smile fell and he stood there completely confused for a moment. Had she not really liked the flowers? No matter if she didn’t like them! He could get other plans! Tickets to Paris for the weekend would still be for sale after five, right?
He stepped into the house closing the door behind him and made his way towards where he thought he saw her headed. “Margaret? Is everything okay?”
She had gone in the kitchen to check on the cake she’d been working so hard on. She wasn’t expecting him to be there so soon, but from what she could tell, the cake seemed done enough. Margaret wasn’t a master baker, so the cake wasn’t as pretty as the pictures showed. Hopefully it worked out like it was supposed to.
She did feel bad or leaving Kal at the door, quickly making her way to block his entrance to the kitchen. “I’m really sorry, I just had to make sure your present was finished.” Her face was soft, and she looked to the flowers again. “Those are so pretty! We should put them in a vase so they last longer!”
She looked up to him, moving around the flowers to give a small kiss on the cheek. “It’s been too long since we saw each other.”
