Alice Travers; One look was all it really took. Frank knew since the first day he met her. It was cheesy to say the least but no one else captivated him the way that Alice did. Alice became his best friend and later much more than that.
history:
Frank had always been a bit sensitive about things. His curls, his laugh, and his smile. He was always quick to embarrass but he didn't let it bother him long.
His parents were shocked to hear about him getting into Gryffindor considering how he was growing up.
While he understood that the hat chose your house for a reason, sometimes he felt he wasn’t any of the traits of a gryffindor. It wasn’t until he made a close friend who had gotten bullied that he realized his bravery only came to those he cared for rather than for himself. Because of this, it was why he had chosen the route of becoming an auror.
He wrote Alice a poem towards the end of his second year
"do you apologize to everything?" charity asks squinting her eyes as she tilts her head at him, her tea nearly spilling all over her as she gripped onto her to- go mug. maybe she really did need the tea more than she thought-- or she should have just switched it to coffee at this point. "i think i didn't see you when i turned the corner." was this way of charity apologizing? probably. thankfully, the tea didn't spill." she says taking another swig of her to go cup. glad that she wasn't really a brit. she was certain that real brits would be chastizing her right now for the way she drank tea. "anyways, speaking of, i will probably need another shortly, care to get some with me? on me." again, was this another way she was apologizing? perhaps.
Her response was unforthcoming. It had taken him aback, really. Frankly, yes, he did apologize a lot but he wasn't one to like being called out on it. He went to say something but caught himself, pressing his lips together. What did one even say to something like that anyway? Usually James would probably say something snarky or jokey, right?
Frank cleared his throat, shifting his weight. "Appreciate the offer, really, but I think I'll pass. Don't want to ruffle some feathers with the future Mrs. Longbottom." He gave an apologetic smile.
school was a guaranteed place that he could see all of his mates every day ― a common ground where they all came together no matter where their home address was. after they graduated from their studies, it was a difficult pill to swallow that the era of his life where that was solidified was over. seeing the ones he spent days, months, years with never fails to make him giddy, like he's back in hogwarts for a day.
james laughs at the notion, waving it off as though it were the most ridiculous suggestion in the world. " i've got nothing better to do, mate. i beg you to entertain me. "
Being around friends often put him in a better mood, especially when he heard them laughing. Frank smiled softly at James as he rested his head upon his hand. He was on his way out of Hogwarts when he and James met, hell when he and most of the group met. The curse of being older, really. He always felt he missed out on many things.
"You know I've never been one good at entertainment," he pointed with a laugh himself. "I can give you dad jokes and I hardly think that's amusement for you."
After visiting the animals and such within the store, Frank always grew a bit bummed. While he and Alice had their own pet he did want to have more. He was a strong believer of "the more the merrier." Alice often had to remind him they didn't have the money to take in strays, as much as they would like.
Franklin gave one last look towards the door before turning from it and almost running into a familiar face. "Oh, yeesh, I ought to look where I'm going-- turning? My apologies." he said after having had grabbed them by the shoulder to keep from running into them.
the streets of diagon alley are much calmer as the weekend comes and goes with the sun inevitably rising and the moon unavoidably falling, which james welcomes with open arms. new faces are enjoyable until he can't walk into a store and grab food to bring back to his flat with little struggle or he's standing in line for an hour at his favorite pub instead of being immediately seated. ( call him spoiled, he'd likely agree. ) he takes advantage of the school children being gone with their supplies and high hopes, sitting in his favorite wooden chairs with a half - empty pint in his hand. he's chatting with the waitstaff, boyish grin pulled out as he lays his usual charm down to reduce the price of his bill, when the bell to the front door jingles and catches his attention. the grin gradually shifts from juvenile to pleasant surprise, leaning back in his chair with raised eyebrows. " aye, fancy seeing you here. joining me for a drink? "
Frank wasn't one to drink. Too many and the bloke was half naked and dancing to the music only he could hear. Which, for some, was amusing (Caradoc having more fun with that than anyone.) Though, After getting chewed out for something that wasn't even his fault he felt a need to, or at least had the urge to. The walk there was enough time for him to talk himself out of it.
The former Gryffindor sat down beside a familiar face with an obvious irritated huff. "Against my better judgement, I guess, I could take a drink. What brings you to the leaky? Certainly you've better things to do."
